- Ajmiller1990Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a bit of a tangent of the style of reading I am generally into. However I really am enjoying what I've read so far. The chapters are quick, easy to consume, and make you want to continue reading in the same sitting.
CHADD is quite funny and I have caught myself laughing multiple times now at some of his quips.
I believe the struggle that Kyle is in, him realizing his old life is effectively over, and his resolve to make the best of his circumstances is something that is down to earth and appreciated.
I look forward to getting deeper into the plot, especially the antagonist side of things. - ReapnoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A nice fantasy/Sci-Fi mix that at points feels similar to Path of Ascension without being too close to feel boring or unoriginal. The Characters are fun and have nice depth. The main Characters are growing constantly but not too quick. A rare and appreciated treat is the emotional growth next to growth in strength. Killing doesn’t come too easy too quickly and the struggle to adapt into a galactic community is nicely fleshed out. The comic relief / Sidekick of the story also has some depth and development. Overall a gem.
- Sacred-FireRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Straight 5's from me, this was fantastic.
Maybe its a personal preference, but seeing in from the ground up on the development of a progression fantasy character is just so satisfying.
After a quite brief 'prologue' type scene were we get introduced to the fundamentals of the setting, system and MC the situation gets blown to pieces, literally. From there the fun starts.
Grinding up mutated beatless with his bare hands, getting to know the real world application and significance of various stats, coming face to face with starvation and isolation, this is how progression fantasy is meant to start.
Like all progression fantasies, we know he is going to end up becoming powerful, but when the story is structured like this we get to appreciate what he had to do to earn it, and it just feels better.
The premise sets us about 150 years after the 'system' landed and earth/humanity has already gone through a large quanta of adaptation. The impression is given that the super stars of the system tutorial have already left to go off into the multiverse, leaving earth and the survivors to handle themselves.
It's a interesting setting that helps to frame the litrpg system apocalypse trope into a fresh setting. Our author has obviously thought very carefully about what a world in that setting would be like, and how society would have adapted to the use of mana and stats and skills etc. Their hard work on planning and world building here allows the readers to comfortably slide into the immersion of the story.
The grammar is very good, some very minor sentence structure issues didn't get in the way of enjoying the story.
As of chapter 7 we only have two, the MC and the robot that he 'prompt hacked' into following him. Which is absolutely hilarious btw, anyone who has had to associate with the recent generation of LLM like ChatGPT will find his early interactions poignantly frustrating. It seems like the AI in the robot is changing, presumably due to the bombardment of chaotic mana, - TeabagasaurusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is an absolute gem! I'm updating my review after reading through the more recent chapter because I am so impressed! Reading this each morning has quickly become the highlight of my day! I cannot wait to see what's next! Here's to many more adventures with Kyle and C.H.A.D.D.!
- ThatWriterGuyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Disclaimer: This is a review swap. I wouldn't have read this story without it. However, I can say that if you like system apocalypses but want a science fiction flavor to it, this is the story for you. So overall, 5/5 stars.
Style: The writing style is easy to understand while not so easy that it looks like it was written by a kindergartener. It's engrossing and easy to get into. It gets 5/5 stars from me.
Story: In the near future, a system apocalypse happens. However, that was 150 years ago. There has been time to adapt, with the MC growing up his entire life with the system. And here's where I'll mention that I'm glad the author did something different. So many System Apocalypse stories are pure medieval fantasy with stereotypical fantasy monsters. Not here. This is a science-fiction story even if things like mana exist. Probably a science fantasy, which is a genre that can use some love. 5/5 from me.
Grammar: Other than a few typos, this work has good grammar. There often has to be serious issues for me to give a lower score in grammar. 5/5.
Character: I'm too early in the story to truly know what to say, but so far so good. Kyle is fascinating to read about. And as a computer scientist who knows how AI works, I like how C.H.A.D.D. acts like an actual robot. It truly doesn't have emotions and must follow its programming, meaning Kyle sometimes has to trick it to do what he wants. 5/5 so far. - YuKurtRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First of all, I really like the writing style! From the start, the author provides lots of details in each scene, providing enough input to enable readers to visualize everything but he doesn’t exaggerate with describing everything. It’s also evident that the author improves with each chapter and his skills grow the more he writes. The grammar is pretty much flawless from what I’ve seen and small mistakes are quickly edited out later on in case some are pointed out in the comments. The story has great worldbuilding throughout the whole plot which becomes evident right in the first few chapters, it is clear that the author has fleshed out the world and knows what he’s writing about. Same could be said about the characters. Each one is unique and has their own personality. I really enjoyed the mc until now and can’t wait to read more chapters! (also great and consistent writing schedule!!)
If you’re looking for a fun and welll-written sci-fi story, this one is for you! I’m not a big fan of sci-fi but I enjoyed this work. The mc has great abilities and while it is LitRPG (which I absolutely love), those kinds of elements are only used when necessary so they don’t distract from the story.
Keep up the good work, StarswornAdmin! - mustache.you.a.questionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Update: I binge read everything the author has put out including everything on patreon. I couldn't wait after that cliff hanger. THIS IS SO GOOD!
The author is also very consistent with posting daily content as promised and makes an effort to consider reader comments for edits, etc.
I am definitely looking forward to reading more content.
Original: I've been following LitRPG for awhile now and just needed something new and different to read. This definitely scratched an itch for me.
C.H.A.D.D is breaking all the rules with being a drone familiar. Including his own rules.... dun dun dun! He is a total gem in this story and provides great comedic relief among the chaos.
Great story so far. Drawing out that much emotion in the first chapter was a bold play. Definitely left me wanting more to read. Excited to see where Kyle will take his skills now that life as he knows it is done.
To be honest, having an MC that is an overall average dude in both stature and status in the beginning is a game changer. And a healer class at that! Having a healer class MC in the genre is refreshing.
As a new read, it is very well written. Few mistakes here and there, but nothing blatantly ruining the story. And the cover artwork is breathtaking!
I definitely recommend this saga to anyone particularly interested in cute familiars, underdogs, and SciFi. - BobCharlieRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: The Authors style is nice and smooth. The story flows nicely. Everything is nice and detailed (not overly so) and there's no sense of the story having been rushed. The plot has obviously been well thought out in advance. No plot holes or confusing head scratching moments.
Story: I'm barely a quarter of the way through, but so far, it's been great. Rather than the typical System integration situation, the story starts off a couple generations in. The world is thought to be more or less safe, which is good, because the last D Grade being is dying (quickly 😭). The plot progresses at an excellent pace. Not too fast, not too slow.
Grammar: I'm not the best judge of grammar, as mine is atrocious, but so far as I can tell, it is on point. As of chapter 14 I haven't seen a single error.
Character: Kyle is a bit of an idealistic softie lol. He's a healer who also gets his hands dirty when necessary. Although a lot of his early problems could've been solved with some casual mayhem and destruction, as a healer, he's understandably not too fond of killing. He's easy to relate with, and his AI companion C.H.A.D.D adds in an excellent source of comedic relief.
All in all, this is one to keep an eye on! Give it a shot! Now. - DabossUnberogenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story immediately caught my eye after reading the first chapter. Normally in post apocalyptic progression fantasies, the characters start off right after the apocalypse has happened, but this one actually starts after humanity has gained a foothold and made a better world for themselves.
The style was engaging and clear, with a very readable cadence. There were no unnecessary words and every thing functioned effectively. It was refreshing to read as well, and it transported me into the story line more than if it had been jerky and broken up.
The rich background and pre-constructed history of post apocalyptic Earth are really well done, and the journey of the MC is engaging as well. I liked the unconventional progression path of Kyle as a healer. Usually in books like this, the main characters are almost universally fighters.
The grammar was clear, and there were no obvious mistakes. The few that there were had no impact on the story, and they did not make it hard to read.
Kyle is an interesting character, and the other side characters are well written as well. The companion robot actually acts like a robot too, not just a person in the guise of a robot.
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this story. - Ding-DongRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly, at the start of the chapter, I felt confused with the world and what is the current setting of this world, but as the story progressed, it revealed information bit by bit as the chapters progressed and it's really good.
The MC is Healer and his companion is literal Chad. The setting is an apocalyptic world with a system, I guess more regarding how this world works will be revealed in later chapters.
If you are looking for a routine, normal isekai/reincarnated doctor or healer story that uses system and level-up, you will be in for a surprise, because this one is not.
The LitRPG tag justifies the story and is only used in the crucial moments which does not hinder the reading experience.
As for grammar, I'm not that picky, and overall, it was relatively good. Based on the comments I've seen, any mistakes that were there have already been pointed out and fixed.
The only issue I felt is that the paragraphs were too big, and for some, it might feel jarring to read. However, for me, it was not an issue.
The MC is well-developed, and his sidekick brings charm to the overall story. As far as I have read, there are not many characters, but whatever has been introduced is written well.
