- Tee heeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I absolutely loved the main character in this novel. Despite their cliche condition, they managed to avoid becoming a mindless killer, which made them both complex and relatable. Their story had me hooked from beginning to end.
But what really stood out to me were the relationships depicted in the book. They were so realistic and nuanced that I found myself invested than I expected. - WFSmedleyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am entertained reading this and think it deserves more attention. It held my attention better than I assumed from the blurb.
I read through the first 22 chapters (currently released) in a day.
I've read countless stories on this sight and it's hard to find something new to keep me entertained. I drop many things in the first few chapters.
The title "No Strings Attached" with a sexual tag, implied this could be something very adult. I was happily surprised when it turn out that the main character specializes in textile magic and not casual sex.
I have some criticisms of the story that contain some spoilers but the criticisms were not enough to prevent me from bingeing through this in one sitting (and I often drop stories).
I feel like knife proof fabric would have drawn a lot of unwanted attention and I would assume his mother would have been wearing his creations/been more heavily observed by the mc preventing the events from occuring.
It also feels like the isekai elements aren't really necissary and the story wouldnt have changed without them (though I do see the future tie in developing I think this would feel more polished as a regular fantasy)
I'm not sure what the authors intentions are and whether they are justing getting their vision onto paper, or they're writing something to polish later, they should continue writing. - renimusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I don't usually write reviews because I don't consider my thoughts to be particularly insightful but I wanted to highlight this novel because it deserves a lot more attention.
What I particularly enjoy about this novel is the original concept which I find very interesting while the overall premise isn't super original the author was able to give this story a very unique spin on it.
I found the style and grammar to be quite good making for a novel that flows really well keeping the reader engaged.
If there is a thing that could turn readers away that might the fact that there are some darker moments in this novel while the story overall is not that dark there moments that could turn some readers away especially the beginning.
In conclusion you should give this novel a try you probably won't regret it and this novel deserves a lot more attention. - rem_brandtRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I was confused by the starting chapter, it felt uneccesary to me. Why should I be invested in the MCs childhood friend, who shows up later in his life as a colleague only for the MC to commit suicide?
I think the author has a hard time writing believable people. They all seemed two dimensional to me, their motivations didn't feel real. A lot of telling but not much showing. E.g. someones supposed to be a sadist, but never behaves that way? The author just tells us. Also, the conversations between the kids in sunday school felt kind of stilted or not like one that kids would have.
And it didn't help, that every woman and girl got a beauty rating somewhere in this story. It would have made more sense to me, if the MC had been more obsessed with their clothing or fashion because of his magical affinity for cloth.
Which was one of the more interesting things to me, because it felt new and innovative. And I might just continue this story for that alone.
Having said all that, the writing isn't bad per se. I feel that with a few tweaks this story could be excellent.
