REDUX :  Completely rewrote version - I asked on the forum and was adviced to post it new as the chapter and the story has been rewritten/corrected so much.2189: In a world ravaged by the aftermath of multiple wars, society teeters on the brink of collapse. The Elite, having abandoned the planet for the safety of space freighters, sever all communication with those left behind, plunging the impoverished masses into a cycle of violence and hardship.

Amidst this chaos, MainFrame emerges as a beacon of hope, offering a tantalizing promise of digital afterlife for a steep price. To access this elusive sanctuary, a Digital Signature—or more commonly called a “Soul”—must be transferred to MainFrame's server. A task entrusted to Couriers, enhanced runners equipped with Receptacles capable of gathering the digital signatures. Couriers race against each other in a cutthroat competition to secure Souls, often resorting to any means necessary, and all within the stringent time limit of 21 minutes. But there is a catch,each use of the Receptacle cost the Couriers their own memories....

Our story follows one such Courier who finds themselves thrust into a job unlike any other. Unaware of the client's identity, the Courier is tasked with retrieving a Soul as per usual job.

But things don't go as planned....
