Description
Something stirs in the darkness of a rainy city, creeping through the gutters and hiding in the shadows.Branded and abandoned, she crawls through the alleyways of the forgotten streets, looking for life and meaning in a city given shape by a spiderweb of competing interests and the lingering legacy of a long-distant tragedy.
This story is set in the Parahumans universe, created by John C. McCrae, though no prior familiarity with the setting is needed.

I love this story as I have always been fascinated with truly strange creatures just trying to find there place or form there own path in a world of uncertainty and challenges, also I love shadow based creatures as protaginists, such as stories like The Abyss That Stares by Sonkoso, or the awesome Silhouette by GrimCat - StillNotDisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I read this story when it was on a forum, but its nice to see it cleaned up and put on a site designed for reading.
The concept of a inhumanly shaped shadow monster set loose on the streets of a supervillain filled Seattle is elevated by two things: firstly, the intimacy and detail found in the writing for the MC's infiltration and observation abilities, making the mundane come alive with new dimensions. Secondly the warmth of the MC's personality; they may not know whats going on, or be entirely human any more, but they retain their adorable personality even in the stories darker moments.
