Description

When the first Super showed up, it was a hoax. The tenth was unnerving. The thousandth was a sensation. By the ten-thousandth it was a disaster. Super Humans did not make the world better, they broke it over their knee.

-Elisa Snowsi, Reporter by day, blogger by night

Jimmy Wallace was not a normal boy. He hadn't been for three months. Three...okmonths. He'd figured it out and he'd made arrangements with that thing in his head too. He'd live with the powers andItwould live with his morals. He could be a Superanda normal boy.Hewouldn't break the world. Not like Legion and Amaterasu. Not like Ice Age. Not like those other Supers. Not him.

Then Vicky happened, and it all went wrong.

This is a coming of age story in a world much like this one and a short stride ahead technologically.

There are more hard topics in this story than there are super fights, and I try to bridge the divide between dystopia and wholesome. The views discussed in this story do not reflect those of the author! They are hard topics and I try to be fair to all sides.

If anyone has their own views, comment! I love the discussion and If you're thinking it,someonein this story is too, even if don't I know it yet. You might well find your ideas show up down the line.

I can't promise a consistent chapter cadence, but I am shooting for once a week. If this story starts getting enough attention, I plan to put up a patreon, and if THAT gets big enough, I would love to do this full time. Until then ;)

PS.

If you've read (and liked) my other story,The Wizard of Elsewhererest assured it is not gone, just put aside. I have a personal attachment to that story, and I fully intend to keep it going. Also, it's rather applicable. You'll see.

This book is off too an amazing start. Just one arc has been done by now with some interludes drizzled in between but every chapter is a masterpiece.
The story is imaginative, mysterious, funny, relatable and so much more that I can't possibly list. I hope the author continues with the story because i am HOOKED.
Ps. If you're new and wanting to check it out, do it. Trust me.

I love stories about powers and superheroes. Though it is still early days, Myriad is already a solid new entry in the genre. Though as of chapter 1.8 the main character has yet to become a hero, I feel confident we'll get there (or maybe not -- I'm honestly too invested to stop reading either way).
    Story
I don't want to reveal too much, but the main character has an ability to store things as cards, then retrieve them at a later time. It's a fascinating ability and our main character is still in the process of learning about what he can do. Also the ability comes with some problematic compulsions that he has to deal with.
    Grammar
The grammar is very good, better than most serialized stories.  There are a couple mistakes, but if you blink you'll miss them.
    Character
While this story is definitely what I would consider plot driven, the characters are all likable and reasonably intelligent. There are solid sibling dynamics between the main character and his sister. I would say that the characters are perfect for this type of story.
    Overall
If you enjoyed Sanderson's "Reckoners" series or the "Superpowereds" series, this is definitely something you want to pick up.

I highly recommend this story.  It's just starting out, but it reads very differently.  I started reading from a "yea sure, I like super fights...." mentality.  And I am sure there are plenty coming up.  But that hasn't been the point so far.  The story has focused far more on developing its characters and relationships.  The world as a whole.  The author introduces tough questions, and when I think about them, I don't come up with many good easy answers.  I really recommend trying this one out.  I'll talk about why.
    STYLE SCORE : 5
I really like the style.  The sentences flow smoothly and the imagery is very vivid.  No telling going on here, mostly showing. Also, it's funny.  Not like a dying in laughter funny (though there have been a few laugh out loud times, but more of a consistent lip quirk funny. The dialogues and monologues tend to have a consistent wit to them that I've been finding really appealing and fresh.
    GRAMMAR SCORE: 4.5
Across the board good grammar.  There are some spelling mistakes every so often, but lets be honest, where are there not? Maybe at an average rate of 1-2 a chapter.  The ones I noticed were pretty benign and didn't jump out at me.
    STORY SCORE: 5
It is still a fairly new story.  I just finished reading Rosette (which was so good I'm currently writing this advanced review) and I think that is chapter 9, though there is another chapter out that I haven't read yet. Still, the picture that is being painted is a compelling one.  It's more at the stage building step at the moment, but if it continues the way it currently is, I am really stoked for how it turns out.
    CHARACTER SCORE: 5
Ok.  Characters.  There have been a few introduced, though we've mainly spent time with the MC's sister. One thing I can say pretty definitely though is that all the characters have their own unique voices and ideas.  They literally don't sound the same.  What I mean by that is that the characters don't just state differing opinions, I mean that their sense o

Good going Hatted One! The first four chapters hooked me right away! The characters are interesting and feel real. The writing is smooth and keeps the pace moving without dragging. The main character's power is sick and super creative. There were already a couple of surprises I didn’t see coming. Can’t wait to read more!

I just finished the first arc of the story and it's really good. What carries the story for me is the characters. The MC is kind of naive and kind of an idiot. He's a nerdy dude who wants to believe in heroes. This usually gets old in stories quick when the MC does reckless things and acts with no brain. However, the characters around the MC are brilliant. MC's sister is so good and acts as a balance. She encourages the MC to think and makes the situations feel so much more genuine. The characters care about each other in a way that doesn't feel forced. MC's powers are super unique and I'm excited to see what else he can do. This story reads as a bit more of a slow burn. MC is not really a fighter, and while his powers seem strong so do other people. Read the story if you like learning about coming of age with good characters and human interactions.

Not a lot of stories have me wishing to go into a coma, to awake a decade in the future with a few hundred extra chapters available to binge.  This is for sure one of them.  I'm not normally a fan of the supers genre, but I love the fae twist the author has put on this world.

The story is excellent no doubt about it but the problem is there are various chapters in the story which is quite difficult to understand such as the current interlude I am reading not only that they have a couple side characters who story is per has not related or not I don't know but it is difficult to understand what is happening in those inter loads there are no context given anyways the story related to the main character and that entire part is called good and I like that part but in between there are some side story like chapter thrown in that is difficult to understand breaking the emotion completely specially after end of the book one from when I am posting this review

    Grammar
A handful of small errors every chapter, usually the same one, and will more likely than not have been corrected by the time anyone reads this.
    Character
One of the selling points of Myriad. None of them are particularly fleshed out yet or have incredible depth of character, with the possible exception of Rosette despite only appearing in one chapter so far, but they do each have very unique voices. I was struck particularly by how easily I'd assigned a new voice in my head to the principal the moment they started speaking. Despite how early this review is, I feel confident this will be a trend after reading scenes (like the one with the kind old man) that speak to plenty of potential to delve into the nitty gritty of character development through emotionally powerful scenes as the story progresses.
    Story
The story is still somewhere between the exposition and the start of the rising action as we have yet to meet any real villains (lowercase V) and hence a narrative has yet to coalesce from the threads of story we've been introduced to, but the exposition has handled world-building and character introduction wonderfully so I am excited for the call to adventure.
    Style
I'm not fully confident I know what style is, but I do know I enjoyed reading these chapters - at the irresponsible cost of sleep, even - so am happy to give this five stars. The thing I associate most with style is mastery of narrative conflict or 'pacing' and Myriad does splendidly. It's fast-paced in a mundane setting with the looming presence of conflict always just over the horizon and past the next page. It's well done, and I'm excited to read more.
    Overall
It's a strong start and has the potential to be one of the better quality works on this site. It's currently a little rough around the edges, but no story is perfect from page one.

This slow-burn magical superhero story, through 19 chapters, has been crafted with high-quality, lengthy, and well thought-out installments, leading us through a dystopian future dealing with the awakening of super heroes, through the eyes of an awkward teenage nerd. Generally this is done through showing us emotions rather than exposition, which I really appreciate.
My tension is some of the archetypes of the cast of family, friends, and enemies feel too extreme. I guess that comes with the genre?  Or maybe it's a reflection of the lack of nuance our protagonist has comprehending others' behavior?
I'm looking forward to exploring the world-building as we slowly learn the whys and whats manipulating the chaotic and perhaps evil urges thrust on the supers. Is any hero's power truly good, or are the gifts only morally corrupt?
I find the diversity of superhero powers compelling. I also have to look some words up in the dictionary - however the writing is approachable.

I wanted to like this story but the massive chunks of completely unlabeled dialogue means you quickly lose track of who's saying what and who's talking about what, making the whole story confusing mess for me. Also for most of the story the main character seems to lack a internal monologue which a lot of stories possess, this makes it difficult understand what he's doing at making the confusion worse.
