What a muDdy Brilliant story!Been a fan from the start, and now get to relive the series through the restart!MuDster D. Beard's style is eccentricly beautiful, aesthetically muddy, wonderfully tragic, and powerfully pleasing. It is a topsy - turvy world that MDr D. Beard has disappeared us into.Bob is not your average hero.Bob is not your average guy.Bob is... a nobody. A... cog. A hapless QA assistant who is assuring the quality of what is quantitatively and quintessentially The. Boringest. Pointlessest. Mindnumbingliest Unimportant job in what is arguably the entirety of existence.Except, to George. To beautiful, fluffy, goldeny, smelly-breathed George. To George, Bob is everything!Bob is his rock. His world. His raison d'etre. His raisin supplier. (If you call doggie-biscuits raisins, I suppose.)And this is where we meet (or re-meet) the dynamic duo. The Dirtiest Wizard and his Golden Companion.I can hardly wait!

I have followed Mr. Beard way back when he had the nerve, the audacity to trickme, into thinking his slapstick comedy could hide away the psychological drama hidden underneath a hood of ever evolving expert writing. One that I personally doubt I could match without tryharding harder than when my literature professor swore she would have my ass crucified if I didn't step up on my written finals.Needless to say, while my ass will never recover from what happened, Mr. Beard dared to disrespect me further, most exuberantly so, by improving his writing even further. The nerve on this man knows no bounds. It is for this reason that I curse this book with a 5-star review so as to force more people to read it. In hopes a kindred soul could find it within themselves to discover a flaw worthy of a less stellar review. If not, at least I can try to offer you a well made read. A story if you will, of a simple man, an average man, the most average of average office workers who could easily have been me or you. A story about Bob who is also a Bobman.Doing his best with the metaphysical lemons shoved down his path. As well as with the greatest of all knowing dogs, George. For when George Knows Best, Bobman Does His Best.Thank you and have a good read!

I found this book yesterday and I binged it. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down. Now I finished book 1 (all the current chapters at the time of this review) and I can not wait for the second book. I seriously NEED to know why happens next

TL:DR - Just read the book. It's well worth it, will make you feel deeper emotions than you'd expect (one chapter really hit home and brought tears to my eyes) and will make you cheer for the wins he gets.I'm Not doing a pro's and cons list and critiquing his writing or grammar. Hell I'm barely liberate myself. However, Bob is a funny, relatable character who's slow decent into a unique form of madness via his unique method of coping with what happened throughout the book is engaging, enfurating, funny, sad, tense and leaves me desperately waiting for more. Will you always agree with the MC. Not a hope in hell. But we're all humans and I rarely agree with myself when I look back. He's more human than most MC's in other LITRPGS and that's what makes this book unique. My only complaint is I waited for a week and a half to condense chapters and binge them on Saturday evening. I had the final chapter of book 1 and a note saying I've to wait another 9 days till another chapter and that really scuppered my plans.I would go into more detail but there's not much more to say. The proof is in the pudding and sadly this was only the main. We will have to see how he writes other humans POV or Bob's interactions when the next book appears. But I am very hopeful that he will knock it out the park.

Mud Wizardis an engaging and imaginative work that blends vivid storytelling with a touch of mystery. The author creates an atmospheric world that pulls readers in from the start, balancing humor, tension, and a sense of wonder throughout. The pacing is tight, and the characters feel authentic, each adding depth to the unfolding story. What makesMud Wizardstand out is its balance of creativity and meaning—it’s entertaining on the surface but layered with subtle commentary beneath. It’s the kind of book that stays with you after reading, offering both escapism and reflection. A concise, enjoyable read that delivers far more than it first appears.

It takes quite a while to get going with an overly humorous and ridiculous start, but it sets up great character progression that it delivers on later. George is also a really good boy who should get more treats and Bob tries his hardest to be a better owner while the universe wants to make him its laughing stock.

The grammar and pacing are both good with no huge flaws and the story itself is a good read if you have some time to kill. a story that could be laugh out loud for some, not me unfortunately, but still highly entertaining nonetheless. it even has some very emotional moments, the author does a pretty good job developing Bob's character and his relationship with his dog, which only adds to the story. Bob's growth is also very satisfying to watch, especially as he figures out the rules of the system and his new magic.

You know the book is awesome when best boy is also the goodest of boys. The dynamic between Bob and George (the good boy in question) is well written which is quite an achievement given that George can't talk (He's a dog). Not much particularly interesting in book 1 but after all its a setup to the larger story which one can't help but look forward to. The author hasn't spoonfed you the questions you ought to be asking but they're given us enough to start asking questions and look forward to reading and getting the answers. Hell of a slow burner but I'm in it for the long haul. The writing is also stellar. Most authors throw in a lot of staple characters early to fluff up chapters with dialogue to avoid the stagnation of inner thoughts ad nauseum but the author has managed to toe the line by making the narration and Bob's inner thoughts quite expressive. Making it a threeway convo between the "narrator", MC who all but breaks the 4th wall and the reader. Hard to say grammar is "amazing" after all its just grammar but I haven't seen many edit suggestions up to this point.

This sort of story does work for an insane character. Not sure who would stay sane after something like a system showing up. The problem is that the main character is insufferably stupid, lazy, insane and rambling, and you HAVE to read his ramblings because there are often snippets of plot relevance in all of them. The story hopes the main characters dog will endear you, and they did, to a point. But that point wore down very fast. I have never, not once, ever wanted to see a dog character die before... And that hasn't changed here. Even John Wicking the dog wouldn't save this story. But if you killed the MC and focused on the dog, maybe. At least the dog doesn't talk.
