Moonflower Inn

Description
What better way to hide from an arranged marriage, in Coral's opinion, than to settle in the strange village of Direwood and open an Inn far from her home.
Now that her father was dead, and having never met her betrothed, Coral felt that this was a most excellent plan. Especially with delights such as fine wine, the company of her lovely sister Pearl, and an abundance of ruggedly handsome men from the adventurers guild.
Moonflower Inn seems to be attracting the patronage from all sorts of odd people, and Coral is starting to wonder if perhaps she has stumbled into something far more darker and dangerous than the throes of questionable matrimony.

- 42ndGateRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This almost feels like I picked this book up from a library, if that makes sense? It is very well written, especially the dialog, which gives off the vibe that the setting is going for. Something that not many on this site do. As for the plot, it's interesting, if a little slow paced. Slice of life with mystery and action in the backdrop, and a dash of romance to round it out. Characters are well written and feel human (flaws and all), and they don't break character or make weird decisions; bad decisions, yes- weird? No. The previously mentioned setting is also quite interesting, late 1800s-ish fantasy. (not earth) plenty of neat creatures and magic, and for once the adventures guild is not-for a lack of a better way to describe‐an adventures guild. It's more of an actual guild or mercenary company, a breath of fresh air in my opinion.
The only issues with the book, that I picked up on are the occasional grammatical error (like swapping 'or' with 'of'), which gave me pause now and then. Some paragraphs seemed to drag on a little long(is just me, I pretty sure?). And most importantly... I've run out. Updates are somewhat spaced out and sporadic, not that I blame the author at all, I imagine the this takes awhile to write. The chapters are long and I'm just glad that we are still getting updates. I've found many a good book here on this site that was last updated 2-3 years ago.
So in closing, it's good. Read it. In front of a fireplace for best effect. In the future and in a more completed state I could see this getting picked up by a publisher. So good luck to the author and keep up the good work. - SoupelRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Intriguing world and interesting characters. I like how the world is rolling out little by little - each chapter includes just enough for you to want the next chapter posted stat! The world building is well done - rich in details without endless boring description, as are the characters. No boring tropes either - each character is unique and believable and for the most part likeable if they are meant to be. The writing is excellent; I really enjoy this author's style. Not overly descriptive but definitely enough for you to imagine the setting and look of the characters.
I love magical worlds but they should be original, and this one IS original whilst still staying true to its genre. It has a bit of a new spin on my favourite magical beings, which is nice to see.
Love that a ghost has shown up! I really like mixing up magical creature/entity genres, ie, not just a werewolf story, or a ghost story, or whatever. Seems like this one is right up my alley.
I've found myself thinking about this story now and then and I check in to see whether there's a new chapter published yet every day. Busting to see where this story goes. I hope the author keeps this one up. I have a few ideas on what might happen, but each time I think I know what's about to happen, the author surprises me and the story twists.
I don't really have any criticisms I can think of. If you are after an intriguing story, get stuck into this one.
