Mists of Redemption

Description

In the twenty years since the Gates opened and began releasing hordes of monsters onto Earth, half the human population had been killed, governments collapsed, and a new breed of enhanced humans evolved to protect us — Hunters.

The day after I graduated from high school, I tested positive as a Hunter. The weakest Hunter in human history. In a society where the strong rule and the weak become prey, it was a death sentence. I knew that, but I wasn’t going to just roll over and die.

Pitted daily against monsters I couldn’t kill and ostracized by other Hunters, my miserable existence changed when I heard five words. ‘I will make you stronger.’ A ‘System’ attached to my soul, one that allowed me to level up and become stronger. But the ‘System’ wanted something from me.

All I wanted was to live and enable my family to eat. The price was to become a tool for someone else’s revenge.

Basically all KR webnovels copy the hell out of each other, literally every single one for a good 5 years made the MC a necromancer (I think this trend was started by LMS)
So it's fine. Stay positive author, you aren't doing anything out of the ordinary wrong compared to Seoul Station Necromancer or Solo Leveling itself copying the whole necromancer spiel

It is a pleasant to read novel, well written, with an interesting world build. The humanity of the characters, their struggles and victories are well represented. I don't know yet if the lenght is too much to bear and gets repetitive, I'm only at chapter 35, but it is a worth reading novel up to now. It shows a good research into weapons and all sorts of creatures, and as for the writing, is top notch.

I've been reading this for awhile now and I have to say that it's really good. The writing is good, the story is good and the humor is good also. I see that the story is on hiatus so hopefully that means that it might continue, I really hope it does.

It seems that the majority of the reviews of this story so far only talk about how it's similar to the Korean novel Solo Leveling, but don't really talk about the merits of this story on its own.
I will only briefly mention Solo Leveling at the beginning of the review, to hopefully help people who read all the reviews before trying out the story, and to dissuade them from believing all the crap that has been written to badmouth it. Basically, yes, the very beginning of the story and the premise borrow a lot of elements from Solo Leveling. However, I have read both, and while Solo Leveling had a really good start, the majority of the novel and especially the ending are utter trash. So I'm not sure why all the fanboys are complaining when this story could give you a great premise reimagined in a better way. Additionally, anyone who has ever read Eastern novels knows that even with the best of translators, the quality of the writing and the way it sounds in English is just not great.
So with that I'll transition to talking about the current story alone and start with the grammar and style. And in short, I'll say that in contrast to translated novels and the majority of other stuff on RR, so far this story has pretty good writing.
    Grammar:
I have been a little desensitized to noticing spelling errors because of how much stuff I read on this site and others similar, and the fact that they typically have A LOT of spelling errors, but even still, I believe this novel has a lot fewer of those if any. Overall it's definitely in the upper tier of this category on this site.
    Style:
The style is also quite pleasant, I haven't been distracted from the action by any strange stylistic choices so far, and the writing is immersive enough. Apart from that, it's all pretty standard and I'm only not giving it the maximum score because it could always get better.
    Story:
So far the story has been great. I do love the setup and even though it borrows a lot of tropes from other novels, I'm

To those that say this is not as good as solo leveling... really? This is way better, the story is different enough and this flows way better. The intereactions with the characters around th e MC are way better. And I think as a female lead its great,  I look forward to the further development as well, I binged this to the end in just a couple of days. Those that get stuck in the first 15 chapters or so keep reading its great!
At any rate, I have read up past 100 at this point and still enjoy it. So come read and give it a chance!

Many litRPG books share concepts and plot points. You have System novels, reincarnation novels, portal novels, dungeon core novels, cultivation novels... etc.
This one shares some concepts with that Solo Leveling book, but I've taken a look at it and this one is still quite different. I look forward to seeing where the author takes the stories.
    Keep up the good work!

I haven't read solo leveling, but this fic does have a similar premise and is clearly inspired by it. The author should at least mention it in the summary.
That said from what was I able to find out from the wiki the trama is starting to develop differently, although someone who has actually read both works should judge.
In any case it is decently written so I think it deserves  3,5 stars, unless it really continues to develop as a genderbent solo leveling.(I mean it would still be  a legitimate story, but then it should be tagged as fanfiction)

My original review was mostly just harsh because of how perfectly the beginning copies Solo Levelling. That part hasn't changed at least. The initial story arc is basically the intro to Solo Levelling but with a girl instead of a guy for a main character. a weak, low rank adventurer, called "hunters" in the setting, Jin only gets brought along on missions by higher levelled hunters to pick up the leftovers and carry stuff, basically the same as how solo levelling started.
She even has a mother in a coma, and a sister she's supporting, and gets stepped on by everyone stronger than her at every point in her life, ad nauseum.
Where it differs from Solo Levelling is in the general setting. the world is even more bleak and depressing, with some strong hunger games dystopian flavors showing through the cracks. The writing style reminds me very strongly of how the twilight saga books were written. That is to say, it gets the job done, and it's easy enough to understand. can't really say more than that.
    Grammar is totally perfect.
The story is, well, like I said in the review title. it's a lot like Twilight, but set in a world themed after Solo Levelling. The MC even has an "Overpowered Boyfriend™" who she acts all extra chaste and wholesome with, which would be endearing and adorable if she wasn't such a dishrag the rest of the time. even as she begins to get stronger, the story's been running for over a year now and she still won't stand up for herself.
Which is why character score is the lowest i can give. she's basically Bella from twilight but with more stuttering and less backbone. as of the last handful of chapters, that's actually starting to change if i'm being honest, but it's like a total transformation arc going on right now so it's not like she's getting any real character growth.
All in all, it's better now than it was when the story first came out. it's better than "meh" at least.

I have to admit I started this story, to prove me wrong about the point that there is one more copy of solo leveling. This one takes it new heights, but still tha base is the same. Since a portal connecting our world to a world full of monsters and creatures of all kinds appeared, some people have acquired powers and the ability to hunt them: they are called hunters. The protagonist of the story, Sung Jin-woo, is the weakest of the rice and curry landers and barely stronger than a normal human. He is nicknamed by his fellow hunters as "the weakest". One day, he and other hunters find themselves trapped in an extremely dangerous dungeon, and only a few of them survive and manage to escape. Sung Jin-woo himself barely survives and is the only one who completes all the trials in this dungeon. He then turns into a "player" who can now see an interface showing him quests, stats, inventory, store, and levels. Will he succeed in leveling up to become the most powerful hunter?
Conclusion: this unmotivated review. I am happy there are authors willing to write their stories, but a bit own initiative would be nice. Otherwise just call it a copy or a fanfiction.

The MC doesn't know how to skin something after a year of walking around with her comprehensive knowledge pearl.  They have computers, but she never watched a training video?
Also super-weak so basic short sword?  Not a ranged weapon or spear or learn a support role?  No poison darts?  No 'take-a-loan' for a good skill?
Only made it a few chapters in, and the plot had too many holes for me to enjoy the story.
