Mirror Link - Origin World – Book 1 A LitRPG Adventure

Description
Mirror LinkOrigin World – Book 1 Ethan Cross was just a burned-out programmer with three rescue dogs—Moose, Buster, and Pixie. Then everything changed. Dragged into a realm where monsters, magic, and game-like rules decide life and death, Ethan discovers his dogs are no longer ordinary pets. Gifted with intelligence, voices, and powers of their own, they’ve become something more: a Pack. Survival means growth. Together, Ethan and his Pack must fight to carve out a place in a land stalked by monsters and shaped by corruption. Every battle demands strength. Every choice carries weight. What begins as a struggle to endure soon becomes a chance to build something greater — a life worth fighting for, and a bond nothing can break. Mirror Link is the first book in the Origin World series — a LitRPG adventure of survival, loyalty, and the unshakable connection between a man and his Pack. What to Expect: I write the story myself, but I use AI as one of my main editing tools for phrasing and polishing. Some punctuation or turns of phrase may still reflect that influence, and since transparency matters to me, I wanted to be upfront about it A LitRPG with heart — Isekai survival, Packbond companion loyalty, and a bond stronger than steel Adventure and progression — dungeon crawls, corruption encounters, and challenges that matter without turning the story grim or overwhelming Slice-of-life moments — shared meals, quiet growth, Pack bonding, and the small victories that make the journey feel warm and real Immersive worldbuilding — tactical survival, teamwork, and lands shaped by magic and danger A character-driven adventure — found family, loyalty tested, and growth that leaves a mark Quick update: I’ve revised and replaced the early chapters to better match the tone and formatting of later parts of the book. This is the first thing I’ve ever written, and I’ve gotten better as I’ve gone, so I’ll continue doing occasional polish passes for clarity and consistency. If you’re a long-time reader and want the cleanest version, feel free to skim the first few chapters again. Update Schedule:New chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:17 AM CST In memory of my dog, Bloo (10/20/2025)This story exists because of him. Bloo was the friend who reminded me every day what loyalty, courage, and unconditional love look like—the same things I try to capture in the bond between Ethan and his Pack. He was with me through the first words of Mirror Link and every chapter after, always at my side while I wrote. I’ll miss him more than words can say, but his spirit will always run with the Pack.

- AingealcaraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0My brother asked me to read his book. I did and I like is so far. It is pretty creative and engaging. I like the characters. Pixie is hilarious 😂. The pacing is good and keeps you interested. I will keep reading it, not just because I have to... But because I am truely enjoying it.
- DarnaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am enjoying the unique twist of the main character transmigrating with his loyal dogs. It adds warmth and charm to every quest and battle. The bond between man and his canine companions brings genuine emotion to a world filled with monsters, magic, and game-like challenges. With clever system mechanics, engaging progression, and just the right touch of wholesome moments, this story stands out as both thrilling and unexpectedly heartwarming. I can’t wait to see how this story develops.
- Debi JonesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is the beginning of a great adventureI really love the authors style of storytelling and the analogies and the bond!It certainly is a great story so far and I’m looking forward to reading more of itI can just imagine seeing the dogs and their wonderful expressive personalities it’s explained vividly
- FriesAndFishRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Original concept and a fun read! I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys gaming, RPGs, fantasy, and dogs. Dogs understand more than most people think, and are great companions. This read brings out the relationship between the characters and animals. I enjoyed reading it and will keep it on favorite.
- HdantmanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First of all, I really enjoyed this. The concept is unique to me (a programmer with super powers written in Python??)-refreshing given the preponderance of duplicated fantasy concepts all over the fiction landscape. I also enjoyed the characters and overall happy feeling I got when reading it. Constant dark themes and awful drama full of catastrophe and death and general human ugliness with nihilism at the core are everywhere in all fiction genres these days and I find myself shying away more and more from that kind of emotional drain. World has enough awfulness without my fiction burying me in a fake copy of it. I didn't think it was devoid of drama and tension, but rather has a good balance of that without making me dread reading it. The characters are well-developed and actually likable which is another departure from most of the fiction I read . The protagonist is relatable and I could see myself in his shoes . If I had to sum up my feelings about this book? It's a fun read that keeps it lighthearted enough to keep me coming back for more. A solid offering and I hope the author makes more. Many more.
- Kuyating60Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story surprised me with its depth and heart. Ethan’s growth, the Pack’s personalities, and the blend of humor and world building create an unforgettable adventure. Every chapter feels meaningful, and the world keeps expanding in the best ways. A wonderful LitRPG that absolutely earns its five stars. Love it!
- Mojito-kunRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an exciting GamerLit adventure novel that I’ve enjoyed reading so far. With 10 chapters (and 1 interlude) posted, the story has only begun, but there’s a lot of promising material that keeps me wondering what is going to happen next. Ch. 10, which I just finished, conveys a particular sense of suspense! What I find especially enjoyable is that the story is written in a way that I believe many people like me, who play RPG, experience their own game adventures. It reminds me of how I play, say, TES games or Dragon Age: there’s a lot of exploration, a lot of snooping around just to understand what’s happening. Even the fact that
Ethan discovers there is a quest for something he’s already done, like killing a boar or wolves, is something I end up doing in Skyrim or Oblivion – accidentally stumbling upon an item that I later learn an NPC wants. Relatable!
The pack idea is particularly fun. It evokes games like DA or Baldur’s Gate where you run around in the company of a few companions and fight monsters together. I don’t remember seeing this idea anywhere else (though I don't claim to be an expert in LitRPG/GameLit).
Style. The story is written like a classic fantasy book, which I really like: the prose is good, the narrative flows smoothly, the worldbuilding is done well, there are no lore dumps – the world is revealed little by little as required by the current events. As a GameLit story, it contains game mechanics which are generally well-explained, but the stats do not overcrowd every page – they are given only when they are essential, which is great. I also like that there isn’t an awful lot of them – the system seems concise and balanced.
Story. The story so far is engaging, the dialogs are fun, informative, consistent, and not awkward. My only concern is that there’s no central plot other than Ethan and his pack exploring the world (hence 0.5 point off for now). In a sense, the novel has been more of a slice-of-life story, which is fine per se, but I hope - Smac1222Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am really enjoying this storyit is very slice of life but still moves and is funi like the dog characters and enjoy the comedy they providelike the premise and where the plot seems to be headingstory is engaging Mc is likeable cast is well done
- ThelmRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In this engaging tale, a man finds himself Isekai’d alongside his loyal dogs. Their journey unfolds as they navigate a fantastical world, forging an unbreakable bond. With heartwarming moments and thrilling adventures, this story explores loyalty, friendship, and the extraordinary connections between a human and his furry companions. A must-read!
