  Master of Yin Yang grabs me from the premise and setting, but it exhibits many signs of being a machine translation (MTL) with minimal editing. That is the primary reason for my low rating and the only major impression I got before dropping it.
  Style: It shares many of its issues with other MTLs. The delineation and length of paragraphs is rarely sensible. Because the machine relies on context clues, words change based on the context they appear in - an electric bicycle becomes a scooter in the next chapter, and other such strangeness. Any artistic choices that don't properly convert to English go unexplained by the translator, such as the father's nickname. There is also little sense of flow (though human writers can struggle with this as well, so that's not too huge a deal.)
  Story: From what I saw, very novel. I'm a sucker for the setting of a (presumably) modern world where corpse-salvaging is still a notable profession. Elements of mysticism that have faded into mundanity... it's pretty cool!
  Grammar: I consider this Pass/Fail. It passes.
  Character: He Zhihui is a fascinatingly superstitious character from the outset, putting stock in which of his eyelids twitch as a sign of impending poor fortune. He is a passive protagonist in the chapters I read, or maybe just observant and cautious. I don't know enough about him to truly say, but he leaves an impression beyond 'wish fulfillment cardboard human'.
  In summary, I think there's a lot of value in this setting and vibe, but I personally cannot bring myself to read it due to the seemingly thoughtless style of translation.
