***
Jennifer was ready to enter Lienmont's Mage Academy, the place she'd been aspiring to reach for years now, in hopes of learning the many secrets of magic. What she hadn’t expected was to be dragged into the city's dungeon.
Her journey found her in a trial of life and death that left a Mark seared on not just her body, but her very soul. And if that wasn’t enough, when she escaped the dungeon, she found her city in flames, burning as monstrous invaders slaughtered everyone they came across, including her.
When Jennifer closed her eyes, she was certain her life had taken an unfair and tragic turn. But then she opened them, only to find that none of it had ever happened.
The only proof she hadn’t gone mad was the Mark on her hand, burning with an inner fire.

- starrydawnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love this book. It's the first LitRPG book that I've read, and as an introduction to this genre, it makes me want to go searching Royal Road for other LitRPG books. There are a few spelling mistakes but other than that this book is gold. I definitely recommend reading this.
- Another bookwormRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The premise is the standard time looper attempting to grow strong enough to prevent a disaster, remescint of mother of learning with some litrpg elements as well. Except that this is the second version of what was an already solid fic, resulting in a polished, actually well written story which can be published.
The characters are likeable and the world building is good, but there isn't ground breaking introspection on human nature or a clash of philosophies, just a well written enjoyable read. - GruRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Surprisingly well written. Mc isn't my favorite but that's not because of a problem with the writing: she's well written, i just prefer a bit more stoicism and a bit less internal monologuing about her present emotional state. With that said, allow me to reiterate that this is a personal preference rather than a problem with delivery. The world seems interesting, the plot moves along in a way that let's you know there's an actual story to be told, and there's an enormous number of questions you find yourself asking and which the Mc struggles to find answers to. Overall, it's well worth the read.
- KedoroRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have nothing but good things to say about Mark of Time, it's got everything I want in a time loop! We have progression, we have mistakes, we have rough deadline and we have an awesome cast of allies the MC makes along way, that despite having to be reset, do not feel repetitive at all and seem to get added depth every loop.
I can't wait for the story to progress further and eagerly await seeing the author continue to grow and get even better. - One-eyed MikeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Curiously, this story itself did a time loop. The author wrote several chapters, then scrapped them and started again. The second attempt seems better, maybe a little blacker in mood, but it's early yet. (I miss the spider, but I understand why it disappeared.)
In brief, a young girl finds herself in a time loop. Evil destroys her city, her family and her best friend - and then kills her too. Then time repeats, and she must face it all again - with only a short time to prepare for the attack and her own likely death.
The story is about her attempts to deal with it. The Mark of Time lets her retain all memory, experience, skills, etc. that she has gained. After each cycle she is a little stronger, a little more prepared. However, aspects of the attack on her and the city seem to change from cycle to cycle. Is it because she has caused changes? Or is something more at work?
Up to Chapter 18, I felt there was a problem with the Main Character. She's a young girl, who has suffered traumatic death of herself and those dear to her, several times. She has also seen mass destruction of her home city. She just feels some distress, and this feeds into her plans to fight back and her attempts to protect her family and friend.
She should not be shrugging it all off, and making plans to fight back. She should be collapsing from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder at the very least - screaming with insanity at the worst.
I am glad to note that the author has acknowledged this plot hole in chapter 18, and has provided more in-story exposition. It might be good to retro in some more exposition in earlier chapters. It will help the suspension of disbelief that makes us read and enjoy this kind of story.
And I am enjoying it.
It's a good take on the loop genre. She's a young girl, not reacting perfectly to the awful situation she is in. After each cycle, she's pitchforked into the same position, and she tries to do something in a short time to make herself better, and the situation less b - Orion1024Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm a big fan of time loops and this one is well built. World building is deep, characters are relatable and complex enough, there are *many* unexplained mysteries at this point that I can't wait MC to unravel...
Pace is well-managed as well, not too fast and not too slow either. I recommend ! - SlayerZekeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I think this is pretty well made it captures the ptsd of death and how some other characters react. It also captures the growing sense of invinciablity that comes with the fact that the character knows that they cannot truly die. the characters also feel like they have personality rather than a robot.
- binary_o11o1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I rather enjoy Mark of Time. While it's a time loop story, it travels much longer loops than most other such stories, multiple weeks per iteration allow us to get very detailed amounts of information on the setting and causes in play, while also making it hard for the protaganist to perform brute force solves to their problems the way a tight loop would do.
The LitRPG aspects are very sparing, which lets them enhance the story without spamming the reader with made-up numbers. - malcolmRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0...and the original was very good as well.
I read the original and enjoyed it, and was unsure if the rewrite would bring much to the table. I've been reading the rewrite for months now, and I'm very much enjoying the retelling of the story. Timeloops can be tricky to write in a serial, since the best parts of a timeloop are the little nuggets sprinkled along the earlier chapters that come to play in later chapters. By rewriting it, you get the advantage of knowing exactly where you want the story to go, and structuring it accordingly.
The only disappointing part is the time between updates, but I don't think it is fair to deduct points from the rating of the story because of that. - malinizgeldiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0good start and running well. our main character and I really liked the side characters. like i said, a series that could be very good ( stepmother of learning ). I will continue to read when there are at least 50-60 episodes in the series (probably after 1-2 years). I wish I had given my comment and rating when I first read it
