Description

Virginia Greer did not expect the apocalypse, nobody ever does. However, when the sun and all the planets drift out of the physics ribbon of space and into the mana ribbon, magic is inevitable in the world. Now Ginny and everyone she meets must fight for their lives while trying to decide if they can even trust this System or the unknown alien or divine minds controlling it.

What to expect;

-A generic system apocalypse, including screens and classes, with both fighting and crafting based progression.

-Adult themes, a strip club, sex, violence, cussing as needed.

-A female main character who starts as an exotic dancer and becomes one of the most powerful characters in her sphere of influence.

-A Writathon submission, meaning the author started from scratch, with barely an outline and has not written any of this beforehand. The author does not know what’s happening next yet. This is a rough draft.

-The goal is a single complete arc of 22 chapters of 2500 words each over the next 30 odd days. This is a writing exercise, and unless it really takes off it will not be extended past the goal, so if you like it, say so.

I realize it's early in the story to do a review but I wanted to encourage the author. I've read A Lot of System Apocolypse style stories, and I can already tell this one has some differences that I'm looking forward to seeing how the author incorporates them. Examples of some new (to me) parts of the story: 1) An exotic dancer/gymnast as the MC, though it makes perfect sense considering the inherant fitness, flexibility as well a the very practical mindset needed for that job. 2) Using swing set chains as an improv weapon. 3) Having a friendly, helpful dialogue with the System from the start and an actual explanation as to why this is happening. 4) Character willingly giving up a skill at the very beginning to further her immediate chance of survival. 5) Character seeing magic as an option and doesn't immediately jump on it.
Other impressive things I've noticed are: 1) The first chapter's setting of an old playground is well-done and well-described. 2) Action pacing is good. 3) Info is provided several times on several things without ever becoming an info dump.
It's also good seeing an MC use common sense and not be a glory hound. I'm looking forward to seeing where the author goes with this as well as with her other story.
