Description
When Aurum Industries announced the first Full Immersion Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (FIVRMMORPG if you're hip) Limitless Online, most people saw it as an opportunity to live out their sword and sorcery fantasies. John, however, saw it as the opening of a new and as of yet uncrowded job market. One he was willing, and eager, to exploit.
Determined to make money through virtual hard work and effort, John sets his sights not on the heights of magic or the perfection of the sword, but instead upon the tilling of the soil and the sowing of seeds as he explores the wide and wonderful world of magical agriculture all from the comfort of his own bed.
Disclaimer:This is a rewrite of the original "Magriculture", which some of you may have read. (To those who did, you have my deepest gratitude, it is absolutely because of your patronage and comments that this rewrite happened, and I feel the story is better for it.) That said, this story is not a complete and polished work, there will be mistakes and errors, and occasionally these errors may mean I need to rewrite portions of the story (as of this posting the story has gone through two major rewrites already, and I'm seriously hoping there won't be need of a third.) Because of this, there may at times be changes.
Such changes may be as small as editing a few numbers (such as going back and changing how much mana an object holds) or it may force me to re-write entire chapters (this has happened once already, and I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again, but... life). Minor re-writes will probably never be posted here. Major rewrites probably will.
Anyway, what this boils down to is: If you're looking for a fully cohesive story with few to no errors and publisher level editing, this is not the story for you. If you're looking for a cohesive plot that's more than "Man farms, man farms, man farms well, man maybe makes money" you're probably also in the wrong place, but I will attempt to entertain you anyway.

- AlejoTheBearRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Its been wonderful. Read the first try and it was good and engaging but had a few problems stopping ot from being great. This rewrite has cleared up all the pitfalls I could see in the last one. I've been checking for a new chapter roughly every hour today so CLEARLY im hooked
- SilvershadowhuntressRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Magriculture has been a delite to read. John tryin to meet his goals and finding out how hard it is to get a farm up and running much less how expensive and time consuming it can be has been great. Wish the author would consistently write some more hopefully it will become more frequent but it's worth the wait!
- lucysabrina47Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I first started to read this because I had a random farming story craze in my mind that needed a fix but soon became obsessed with this and binge read the part that was out. Something that really surprised me if this from what I've read is one of the only stories that truthfully uses earth magic and/or earth manipulation besides just to throw rocks and it makes me want more stories with it.
- Lord VitorRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A very interesting novel about game market and people making their living through it in a way most wouldn't consider.
A truly hardworking MC, in all the possible meanings of the word "work". Raise your shovels, scythes and wands, my fellow readers, and let's see the way one will farm their way to victory!
And hopefully, a stable income! - BounclRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I tried to read the previous Magriculture and could not get into it, the writing was just not at a level I enjoyed. However this rewrite seems to have gone really well, and I'm really enjoying the story.
We follow the main character as he attempts to make a living in a new virtual world as a farmer. Unlike many MMO LitRPG's the world has a fair amount of versimilitude. The plot tends to focus on the main character's day to day challenges as a farmer, with a common thread being skill growth.
If you're interested in an engaging story about self-improvement, farming, and building than this is the story for you. - prowlirRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I like the story over all. It is a change of pace for what i usally read. The way it reads is a bit simple like its written for a young teen which isnt a bad thing just (not sure how to explain) maybe be a bit more into the story as you write it . Proably not the right person to say that since i am not a highly Edgemicated person lol but keep up the good work the more u write the better it seems.
- Uh-hmmmRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0For a immersive MMORPG story, it's good to see the main character take time to keep his real body fed and in shape. The magic system is simple so far, but not so narrow as to remove the possibility of creativity in formulation and execution. Having the story start in the early days of the game, with the game world itself adapting to both the deluge of players and the slow growth of the dungeons is an interesting setting. It gives depth to the "npcs" and allows for an interesting culture clash between players' expectations of fantasy society, and what actually developed within the rpg system.
The main character himself is a good mix of humble and polite, while pursuing farming instead of adventuring. His problem solving is enjoyable to watch, but the story does drag a bit while following the day to day activities of clearing land, making fertilizer, etc. It's best to go into the story expecting a slow burn, it is a story about farming after all. If you are looking for a thoroughly grounded litRPG, then look no further. - MonoriaRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0OK so far loving this, the worldbuilding as of now is great and the story interesting. I hope to see you updating this at your own speed, just so we get the story in the way you wanted to present it to us readers. So take your time writing this and to everyone reading this, get ready for a book of I would say good quality.
- ElorieRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5It seems, at first, to have a diligent worker as a protagonist.
Not so much, on second thought.
We're talking about a wannabe farmer - who does not even bother to talk to the friendly local farmers about how things go, what he needs/should avoid, before walking off into the wilderness because he knows it all.
The basics are entirely missing - the building blocks of civilization and games - we don't know the rules.
What are the duties and priviliges of nobles? How do taxes work for a business? Land-claiming and holding rules and laws? What are the local laws? How does respawning work? Are there any hostile monster lands? Is it even a human empire?
It's like a horse with hobbles, leading straight to a maybe-farm which turns into a shrine.
Golems, but no one thought of harvesting silk early on? It's a basic staple of fantasy-craft.
It's not bad, but there's little forethought - it's a work harder, rather than work smarter.
Gods are dropped out of nowhere - I sympathise with wanting to avoid data-dumps, but it's just that the necessities are ignored.
For example - there's a knighthood on his doorstep, of the god of magic.
Not even asking about their rules, hierarchy, aims, services they provide other than building... he's trying to learn some magics and enchanting, and doesn't even bother to ask the servants of the god of magic?
It's not bad, but it's all over the place. Running around without stopping to think or plan for quests and their completion.
With the gold and the tree, he could have easily paid the knights for a portal and completed that quest, just for example. - YamezRoyal Road★★ 2.0The longer the story goes on, the dumber I think the protagonist is. He has a monopoly on what is basically the most valuable piece of land in the entirety of the new Barony and he insists on continuing to farm it. The guy is literally sitting on a transportation hub for an empire sized polity and rather than building the amenities of all huge logistics chains (Hotels, Restaurants, Conference Centers, Mansions etc, Logistics Centers and Warehousing) with his massive piece of extremely strategically placed land, he continues to try and farm it. Poorly, at that.
To add insult to injury, he has also just begun to pick fights with the incoming nobles who are willing to pay him for the use of the land because reasons. Recall that the original reason that the Protagonist is doing all of this is because he wants to make money. I stopped following the story because the Protagonist never attempts to improve his self sufficiency, has the business sense of a brick and the pacing is awful.
