Machiavillainess

Description
To play the game of politics, one must be brave or foolish, but better to appear both and be neither. Countess Julia Augstadt lost her mother in childbirth, her father to an accident ten years ago, living in the shadow of the Royal Palace by a betrothal to the Crown Prince, only for that to be annulled with her eighteenth birthday approaching. There is no justice but that which can be administered with one’s own hands, no power but for that which one personally yields, and there is no evil which cannot be justified with greatness. It is a shame, then, that she has decided there is no greatness left in the land she calls home.

- Nomadic ChroniclerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0me a world shaking monster down the lien...
This is an early review, posted at just around Ch.19.
Hopefully, I will be able to update it down the line.
Mialbowy... Mate... I'm bloody speechless.
This has been extremely good and so different from this site's regular stories so far. Wishing & Hoping for 170 more chapters to watch this madness scramble on.
Cheers! - SharksRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a bit of a long review so I'll just lead with a TL;DR
This is a really well written, genuine historical fiction. The characters do not fall into the standard tropes you'd expect on royal road, and everything about this webnovel is extremely well executed. The world and how it impacts the characters is remarkably well thought out, the MC keeps you guessing with her plans, and every character you spend any degree of time with feel like very real, three dimensional people. I highly recommend this one, especially if you're looking for something different from the standard RR fare.

Now, for the full thing:
Machiavillainess isn't quite what you might be expecting from a villainess story on Royal Road, but man is it good. This is historical fiction - no superpowers, no transmigration, no dungeons, no system. It's written in a way that at least feels remarkably authentic while still being very accessible and fun to read. The characters all feel very human - everyone has their own motivations, and very few things are black and white.
The style is excellent. There is clearly an etiquette people are engaging in during conversation, the rules of which can vary given who has what level of social standing. The characters don't talk like people in 2026, but they also don't sound like some sort of ridiculous pastiche. Here's a little exchange from chapter 3 to give you an idea of the dialogue:
“I have overstepped,” Ludwig said, slowing his horse.
“That which is said in confidence can only be too little. Besides, I understand a certain scepticism of my capabilities. Having said that, it is understood which of us three holds the commission issued by His Royal Majesty, yes?”
A disjointed, “Yes, My Lady,” came from the general and the knight."
It's different, but still very clear and readable. No one is getting bogged down in excessively flowery language that you have to read three times before you figure out what the per - BrGastlRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This Story Features a female MC which seems to have taken upon her to plot herself to power. Its everything you might expect a politically novel to be, just a pinch more of it. In that I see this novels weakness and strenght.
On one hand you have instrisic Plots and the MC micromanaging issues on a new scale compared to other novels on the other hand you lack the broader picture. It feels a bit live setting in a mocie watching something, ist less immersive than your average novel which paints picture of a whole New World. As such I find the style of the novel somewhat unsatisfying, though that probably Mode a question of likes and dislikes or at least goals and expectations rather than a objective critic. The same goes for the Charakters who are mere Chefs pieces Ina plot rattert than Human. Dort get me wrong emotionslos Player a role, but the dance to power.
The whole thing is written well enough to go unnoticed without any complaints. The Story, as I teasered already, feels finely crafted, except the Exposition, it seems to not trott the average chunckfood experience.
Overall I think this is a good Story to come back to, though Nottingham to devour in one Session.bdefinetly recommended of you search something a bit different.
