Lunar Epoch

Illania is a peaceful kingdom. Unburdened by war or serious conflict. For tens of thousands of years, the kingdom has been ruled by immortal elves. Each given several millennia to rule. Every aeon one new immortal elf is born and the old one departs the world. So, it was strange when 800 years ago, two would be born mere decades from each other. The immortal sisters as they came to be called, the queen of the day and lesser, princess of the night.

In this world, a human, lost from our world would enter into her night court and her Lunarian Guard. His attempts to fix his past mistakes will lead him to adventures in this world, and maybe lead him to his goal of courting the moon herself.

Joining him, a minotaur short in stature but large in heart will fight to understand her own place in the guard and larger world. A misfit herself, perhaps she will find the place where she fits is next to her friend in the evening guard.

This is the story of Neal the Human, Mithril Hammer the minotaur, The princess of the Evening Luna, and the rest of the misfit Lunar Guards.

This is a story I’ve been working on and off for a few decades now. I’ve tired to write it five different times, this being the fifth. The world itself is a caricature of what you might expect to see in a Saturday morning cartoon. What would a cartoonish view of peace look like if made real?

What about immortality? We have this idea of what immortality would look like, but what if it was a ‘lie’?

This story has been a labor of love of mine, and I hope you’ll enjoy the journey with me.
