- SkarabraeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a very good story.
Style: I like this story's style a lot. It has literary devices, in particular a lot of imagery that helps with the story's tone and set various scenes within the story. I was able to spot some foreshadowing too as I read more of the story. The author has incredibly good word choice and is able to set the tone very well with it. The author's way of writing is also unique. And I can safely say that the tone fits the story perfectly.
Story: The story is great. it is paced at just the right pace. It develops at the right pace too. So, no complaints regarding that. The story itself is a Palworld fanfiction featuring someone who is new to Palworld. The fish out of water storyline works great for it, and I like how the author is able to introduce things from Palworld. So, no complaints here.
Grammar: I found a single grammatical error, and it is likely fixed by now. So, we're good here. There might be other errors that I haven't found, but they are likely too minor for most people to notice.
Character: The characters are really good. They are mostly well-depicted, realistic, and three-dimensional. Some aren't three-dimensional, but even those characters are fairly minor. The main character is interesting and likeable as well and his reactions to this new world are understandable.
Overall, I highly recommend this story. - TheHawkkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I definitely enjoy it. I'm not super familiar with Palword as I've never played or watched a video on it, but this makes me want to pick the game up and give it a shot.
The world is interesting and one I'd want to visit even if it's not all that peaceful. I'm not sure exactly which parts are original and which parts belong to the palworld universe, but either way it's good stuff and fits well together.
It's easy to consume, with natural language and dialogue. The author also has quite a few funny lines interspersed within the story. Got some chuckles out of me. It has good pacing and paragraphs are well-spaced and vary in size, keeping the text and your eyes flowing. Overall it's quite relaxing to read, the setting and plot makes me feel a bit like I'm on vacation relaxing under the sun, even if not-so-nice things are still going on lmao.
I like the characters, my only gripe is that I would like to see the main character named! The author put up a poll about it, so I hope that they are named in the later chapters! Other than that I enjoy they main character and their funny quips.
As for the grammar, nothing much to say. It's good, zero issues from my side. - WeavervaleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Alright this is a great example of a good new author putting themselves out there and hitting it out of the park.
Grammar is 5/5 and this is well written, especially the chapter 001 which has a confusing perspective on purpose. I know that this is a fan fiction and it won't become an actual novel eventually but I can imagine the sound effect that I would use in a podcast on this topic.
Style. 5/5 this has an even contemporary style. It's a fair bit of a lore dump but it's a fiction. The lore is done very well at least.
Story 5/5.
It is strong in the setup. longer term I think that it's going to go somewhere great. Skipping ahead and it looks like that is the case.
Character score 5/5
Pretty standard "WTF" isekai setup but there might be some mystery underneath that as well. I'm an avid player of pal world so this whole setup speaks to me.
Overall this is a good fiction and should be on your list to read. Also I need like twenty more words for this because of rules so maybe add more mammorest? I can't wait for the podcast version. - A. StargazerRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I'll be honest, I've never played palworld and probably never will. Not due to any sort of distaste towards the game or the genre, but simply due to a lack of time and interest.
That said, I still enjoyed this story despite having no attachment to the universe, and despite the fact that I generally don't enjoy fanfiction.
The style is contemporary and although it has a slightly strange beat for the first chapter or so it's easy to follow and get into.
Grammatically I saw no glaring issues. Full marks.
As far as story goes, it's an isekai into the palworld universe. That's the setting at least. It doesn't really get much more complicated than that, from what I've seen, and it seems to be an explanation/exploration of the lore and setting of the popular game.
Character wise, we have the nameless protagonist and the people who rescued him from certain death.
There's tension and action right off the bat. The story goes from an exploratory mission straight into the heat of things, and the protagonist and his friends/saviors must fight for their lives in an unforgiving environment.
If you enjoy palworld and are looking for some fanfiction to read, this story is for you. - WayOfTheWeirdRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5As someone who isn't familiar with Palworld, I found this story to have a lot of similarities to a mature, well-written Pokémon fanfiction. If you enjoy the world of Pokémon but have been craving something with a bit more edge and complexity, this story could be exactly what you're looking for. The grammar seems fine so no complaints there. All in all a solid fanfic. 4.5 stars
- HitmarkRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5To start my review, I'd like to first clarify that I'm not 💯 familiar with the world of Pal world. I do know it's a game but I didn't expect for there to be this much violence xD. So here's my two cents.
The story itself is nice. It can be engaging as there are lots of things that I consider new. I mean, gorilla's with guns? Doesn't get newer than that. Last I saw something like that is in Planet of the apes. However, it can get a little jarring as I've said, I don't know much about the world of Pal world itself so many things were very foreign concept to me.
Moving on, the style isn't too complicated. The way you write the story is simple but sometimes a little too simple. I do get that it may be your way of writing but I believe you can put more effects in the story rather than sometimes explicitly stating what a character is doing, it can help the audience imagine the scenarios better.
The grammar is good, I didn't see anything off or misleading. I'd say that's a solid 5.
The characters are also lifelike, which is something I really like as I believe the characters bring the world to life. The interactions seem genuine and legit coming from a personal being, not just some written piece that says whatever it says because it has to but because it feels like saying it.
Over all, it's a 4.5/5 for me! Keep up the good work! - IDC-Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Is the story complete?: NO
Did I drop the story?: YES
Is it hard to read?: NO
Did it do something to stand out?: YES
Would I recommend it?: YES
Thoughts:
The authors bold approach to story telling made this almost loose a star do to the difficulty of reading it but once you understood what the gimmick was it became ingenious in hind sight, truly a case of let them cook.
I hope the author keeps continuing to write in the future be it ether this story or any other story they choose to pursue.
How I format my review, keep in mind they are for the readers not the authors:
- The story starts with 5 stars.
- I remove 1 star if it is not complete.
- I remove 1 star if I dropped the story.
- I remove 1 star if it's hard to read (odd word choice, grammar, etc).
- I remove 1 star if it fails to do something that stands out. (Funny, Unique premise or perspective etc)
- I remove the 1 to 1/2 if I would not recommend it to read regardless of score.
Thought: A summary of my personal take.
