- B.C. FaJohnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have read the first 4 chapters and will update the title and review to an advanced review once I get deeper in :) But, long story short, this story is really well written thus far! You can tell the authors passion.
This story is creative and a fresh read. It's on the way to be a unique tale that will captivate the readers and throw them into this world.
I also quite enjoy some of the pictures the author has thrown in. They're really interesting to look at! Bravo! - MrBadWithNamesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style - 4/5
The story moved at a good pace for me, you have a fair amount of time to get to know the characters at the basic level, leaving loads of mystery for the readers!
My only complaint if it can even be called that is the constant jumping from person to person, though you get used to it real quick! It's just something to keep in mind :D
Grammar - 5/5
No issues as far as I could tell!
Story - 4.5/5
A lot still remains a mystery, however I can already see a good plot coming in. Recently we got to see some cool mechanics of the world with the "sprit modes"
Characters - 4.5/5
I've liked all the chracters ever since the start with the re-telling of the garden of eden! I like how the snake didn't start off as a bad guy, (and I'm low-key thinking he isn't all that bad anyway ;) )
Overall - 5/5
You should give this story a go! It's a fun reat and has a sizable cast of likable characters as well as some very interesting world-building! - FehRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Lied is a story that when you start it, you can't stop reading. The story contains a lot of mysteries, that can make the reader even more interested in the novel. Anyway, whoever think of reading this story are making a great decision.
- YAK EdgeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Usually, when I write a review for a story, I will judge it upon several criteria and say how well the author has executed them. Story and Chracter are the most important one obviously. Not this time. And it's not because either aspects are bad. They are not. Lied tells a fascinating story that gives the biblical Original Sin story a Shonen-y spin. The characters are likeable and there's enough intrigue and mystery that one wants to keeep reading. Compared to other Shonen, it doesn't stand out too much - besides the the biblical mythology -, but for the beginning it's fine. The story can definitely grow.
But the thing that holds it back is its format. Lied doesn't work as a webnovel. It should be a webcomic or manga. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. The style acts as a barrier to immerse oneself into the story and it genuiely affected by enjoyment. Even though I know that the story is good. And while I read, I always saw the manga/comic panels before my eyes.
As such, I should have given the story a low score in Style, but that would be unfair to the story. Instead, I will treat it like a webcomic.
So, all in all. I think Lied makes for a bad novel, but I genuiely see an amazing webcomic or Shonen manga there. One that I might even follow were it published in Shonen Jump. - AmanuensisRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall: Lied is a shonen anime inspired story that embraces many of the staple tropes in fun and interesting ways. It's pacing is quick and often littered with bits of intrigue to carry you from one chapter to the next. It should be noted that English is not the author's first language, so the phrasing and structure of sentences can sometimes prove awkward, although Mitsuaki's skill does improve significantly as time goes on. His passion for this project is abundantly clear as well, which I'm always happy to see. For these reasons, Lied is well-worth a follow.
Style: From the very start, you get introduced to the world not only through a unique take on the story of Adam and Eve, but with beautiful artwork as well. I personally love when web novels have supplemental additions to help paint the scene and establish characters. Unfortunately, when combined with sometimes hard-to-follow scene and point-of-view transitions, it quickly becomes apparent that Lied would be much better expressed under a visual medium. Needless to say, I'm very glad the author is working on a WebToon adaptation! The story is genuinely ripe with potential and I'm eager to see it bloom!
Story: Did I mention this is shonen anime inspired? I'm very much reminded of Bleach (one of my personal favorites) with a somewhat abrasive and broody protagonist that happens upon powers related to a secondary world / afterlife. The MC gets pulled in via the influence of members of a mysterious, foreign organization and proves himself capable of fighting against or alongside them in entertaining ways.
Character: I'm a big fan of characters, which is why I'm sad to say I think there are some pieces missing in this department. Early on we are introduced to a lot of names in a very Kingdom Heart's Organization XIII kind of way; a gathering of observers and manipulators of our hero in the background. The frequent jumps between scenes and perspectives can be jarring in a literary medium, especially when their featu - TheWitchOfTheRockRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0We start off with a retelling of the whole garden of eden myth, and then get thrown into a more modern setting with people who -clearly- are not what they seem.
My test for a lot of stories is this: if I go away from it for a bit, do I think about the story afterwards, and wonder what's happening past the point to where I read. The answer is yes, and thus this story gets a "Will keep reading" from me. - Luca DRRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Honestly, I had a good time following what was happening in the prologue. Thankfully the prose got better and better as the story progressed, showing that the author himself was growing and getting better at writing. The story seems interesting and has a good deal of mysteries, but it feels at times rushed and too fast.
I respect the choice, however. Good read, will definitely keep reading. If anything, I want to know what some of the things really are. Good job author, you hooked my by providing some unexplained phenomena I want to investigate.
