Lone Wolf of the Tower [Regressor LitRPG]
Community Rating
Description
Nathan Andrews has had a rough life, but despite all the hardship, he’s not quite ready for it all to end—even when he finds himself mortally wounded, with the rest of his party either dead or dying.
Adding to his determination to avoid whatever awaits him in the afterlife is the grim reality that whatever remains of humanity has little hope of finishing the climb now that another group has fallen. With no other options left, he decides to start the entire journey over—this time with a plan, but burdened by a handicap that could very well cut his adventure short.
This is a regression tower climber LitRPG, but in this book, the main character isn’t a hero who breezes through challenges and wins every fight. Nathan will lose, he will struggle, and he will bleed. Follow a man haunted by his past and with a flexible moral compass as he claws his way to the top of the tower that holds him—and his entire species—in its grip.

- KarmicInfiltratorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Seems interesting so far. There are only a couple chapters published, so I might come back to this review in the future, but the grammar is good and the story seems to be going in an interesting direction.
Not a lot of information about the main character yet, but I assume that will get fixed as the novel progresses. - The CommentatorRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Very nice stuff here. This is a good, well written story. While this review is part of a review swap, that won’t stop me from continuing onward. And it’s now time to get into the meat of this review.
The Grammar and Style were actually of a higher quality than I would typically expect of a fiction on Royal Road. Not the absolute best, but great nonetheless.
The Story is shown well. The goal is clearly and naturally established, and makes sense with what the character wants. The main character’s knowledge of the tower makes complete sense, but doesn’t render him all knowing, and able to beat all threats.
The main character himself seems to have a fairly interesting personality, but that may be mostly because I have read very little books in the tower climber genre.
Anyways, all in all, I would call this book a #WillContinueReading. This is some quality popcorn fiction right here. It’s a good thing to read in between the greats like Salvos and Stubborn Skill-Grinder.
The only critique I might give is that the mc is a tad bland, but that’s really just a minor nitpick. And even that might be just because I haven’t been with him for all that long yet. - LittleSkellyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Disclaimer: this is for a review swap and I have only read up to chapter 5, so I might be mistaken in a few things. With that out of the way, let’s get started.
Style: The style of this story was done very well. The time skip does not really distract me from the reading and works very well when it comes to the story. It’s actually feel pretty natural.
Story: As much as I love time traveling stories, this one feels a little bit a lot like other stories I have read. That might just be because I read too many manhwa involved with it. There’s also the fact that in one of the chapter I read, there is something I would’ve liked to indicate as to why a certain person the MC found is suspicious other than him just directly telling us. It feels a bit off, but that might just be me. However, the story itself did a lot of good things, such as establishing a goal, the end goal, motivation, among other aspects when it comes to storytelling. There is a clear hook and a good amount of world building weave in between the texts.
Grammar: From a non native speaker, this looks great in my eyes. Don’t take my word for it, though. I only noticed it if the grammar is extremely terrible.
Character: I will be honest, Nathan as a character feels…flat. While it’s not wrong to reveal all of the cards in the beginning chapters and kind of hard to establish them in the readers mind, there’s not a lot of hints to potential characters development, personality, and their backgrounds.
When Nathan traveled back to the beginning, we learned that he originally had a certain disability regarding his mobility. This concept was only there until he is whisked back into the tower and makes him normal.
I will be honest, I would’ve like that it’s be a explored or at least have the character shown a little more of his distaste for the disability and how that account to even his own life. Something like that just stick with you for a long time, and even if it’s been years, there should have been some traces of - MaethryaRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This review is part of a review swap, but I ended up reading everything released before reviewing instead of stopping at the breakpoint because I found the story intriguing.
The only critiques I have for style is the abbreviation of stats being used on the stat screen, and not knowing if the character is thinking/talking to himself. I did not immediately know what 'Ref' and 'Reg' stood for, and the MC did not have any reactions that clarified quickly for the reader. Its not out of the question that the MC just speaks aloud to himself, all the time, but I think you are using the same quotation marks style for both thinking and speaking, without a clear, consistent indicator of what one is actually happening in each instance.
Only minor grammar errors, nothing jarring.
For the story, I like the idea. A second chance at the same life, maintaining knowledge from the previous life. It's a common one, but the implementation so far does well at not making the MC an instant, overpowered character. He has advantages in the form of knowledge, but its actually that advantage that personally left me a little frustrated in spots. The MC knows a lot of things, but the reader is left totally in the dark. We appear to be privy to Nathan's thoughts, but he will say and reference things frequently without even a brief explanation. We don't need all the details, but
I probably should not have been left under the impression the brokers were just a merchant organization between chapters 3 and 7, when it is then made more clear that it's more of a criminal/smuggling thing, or left confused at why Brand would suddenly try to kill Nathan. Not when Nathan himself seems to already know both of these things, and is not surprised enough to actually question either of them. Instances like the Angel's Tears works fine, because while the reader does not get a full explanation, we instead get information on how it effects Nathan after drinking it. It's enough to not be left confused.
I know a lot
