- moulder666Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am loving Lise's writing style - and so far, a LitRPG from her is everything I could want. Will need more to be certain, but so far it's bloody fun and excellent!
The writing is great, the characters are interesting and the game elements promise exhilarating training/leveling sequences in the future! - TheCuratorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Listen I understand the reasoning behind why some chapters written here are incomplete. I understand that as written this story can be lengthened indefinitely. I also understand that some chapters will be lack luster I do I really do.
With that said, this story has begun to lose the heart of the very thing that made it great. I understand this is dallions story but people have friends. At this point the dude is being punished by the moons and couldn't even be bothered to fix it.
Dallion is millennia old and hasn't grown a single day he's lazy he doesn't do anything and now the chapters being half flushed out and short make it seem like he's going even slower. I hate to say it but this story is getting boring so boring I may have to drop it from my rotation.
So why the 5 stars. Well I'm reviewing it for what it was not what it's become. Just as I wouldn't base a journey because the destination was lack luster. My only hope is the author considers my words and rectifies this situation as I read all the chapters in 2 days and I'd love nothing more than to see what dal becomes. - Youngest NoonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It honestly didnt start strong, but over time I have come to appreciate it. A unique way of leveling up, aand a world full of mysteries.
Dalion as a character grew on me, though I still find him to be far too reckless at times, but I've come to accept that its just who he is.
If I were to nitpick, there would be plenty. But overall, I feel the good out weights the minor bad. - sw00ksRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I liked the original magic system. It's a litrpg, but where every object is basically a dungeon, and you mend or improve objects by clearing the dungeon within. There are certain thresholds/bottlenecks that have to be overcome to continue progressing, but it's not like a xianxia. I really liked the original spin the author gave to litrpg. It's not number crunchy at all so you dont have to read through paragraphs of math/numbers.
It's more than just that, but parts of how the system works is also part of a mystery you get to explore with the mc, so I'll refrain from too many spoilers. The battles both in and out of the objects are intriguing and exciting. The mc has decent character development, and there is a certain coming of age theme that works as mc strives to better themself. The mc is not op, but aquires rare abilities. They also have a drive and potential to become so in the future. The story can be a bit confusing at first, but as the story progresses it gets better and better. The writing style is direct and clear with few grammer issues.
Overall a good read, I think it should be higher up in popularity. I would recommend this story to anyone looking for a litrpg that's a bit different. - Lance WheelerRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story goes in a very different direction from other system books. It is refreshing and well done with that system. It has its slow parts and it takes a while to get the background out, but it is worth the wait. Keep up the good work Lise Eclaire! And give it a try to see if it is something you like.
- RouniRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story has an interesting perspective, that i havent met before.
the plot is also well paced and interesting, nothing is revealed too soon, and there are no suden power ups so far - that means we will get a decent character development.
I look forward to more, chap. 26 so far, keep up the good work! - arvingenRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0A unique spin on litrpg / isekai, I really enjoyed the world and characters!
The only thing I would critique is the explanations for advancement are somewhat fussy.
Otherwise it's a great read with a good main character even though he seems to rush everything when he doesn't really have to. - Kilogram60Royal Road★★★★ 4.0I am really enjoying the story. The premise of guardians and item awakening to me is very novel. There are a lot of familiar elements like familiars and stats but the real joy is the upgrading of items and areas.
The MC is flawed, although I think some of the writing explaining his faults are too subtle for me to understand. I prefer to just enjoy the journey.
My primary gripe is the grammar. There are a lot of typos, to the point that sometimes I don't know what the sentence is trying to say. Extra words that confuse the sentence etc. This is not consistent however, as though the author has had some difficult times in getting chapters out and then there will be a period of good quality work.
Frankly, I prefer the author getting on with providing more story than rewriting to fix errors but there are a few too many for me to ignore totally.
While I love the setting and mechanics of the world, at 160 chapters in, the primary driver of the story is still personal development. Not to say that there are not bigger story elements, but it would be nice if the MC matured in the world a little more.
I have dwelt at length on the areas I struggle with in this story but I want to particularly emphasise that I really like the story. If you can deal with the grammar issues, get on board. - RascozillaRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Magically improve the world by...killing mystical creatures...that live in mundane items...? oh, and level up too!
Postives: Grammar, story flow are good and don't distract. Interesting twist of how people "level" up. The world feels colorful and discriptive.
Negatives: A little too focused on new magic system...? Characters are a little flat, including MC. Transmigration intro feels unecessary ( So far appears to have little impact). The storyline is feeling a little railroaded and the MC is mostly reacting to a series of bad situations. - David GilesRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I've never seen a LitRPG quite like Levelling Up The World. The LitRPG elements are very odd, with people having to enter an object and battle with whatever is inside to upgrade it to a better version of itself. It's an interesting idea and decently executed.
The big problems come with other aspects of the setting, the lack of detail and description of the world around the characters which, while intended for a big reveal later, makes the setting feel extremely beige before the reveal and it frankly takes far, far too long to get to that point.
