Description
Update:Yo! Sorry for the late notice, but I will not be posting on 3/6 or on 3/13 due to midterms. I’ll return on 3/20 with a new chapter. See ya then!
A fun experience for all ages. Well, it would've been that.
Leveled Plane, the VR multiplayer online game renowned for its innovation and variety. Billions of people play the game on a regular basis. Thirty years after its release, the number of people who've "completed" the game is still a resounding zero.
So what happens when a veteran and a noob with nothing left to lose take a crack at it?
...
Nothing good...
Follow along as Heather and Jamie do everything they can to last one day longer, go one step further, all while dealing with game politics and the slow acceptance of their new reality.
This is an idea I've had in my head for a long time, and I really want to do it justice, so I'm taking my time with this monster. The initial plan for this story has it spanning at least 3-4 volumes if everything goes well. Any feedback (as long as it's constructive) is welcomed and appreciated.
New chapters are released every Sunday.

- BellwetherRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0When reading the first chapter, I didn't expect anything extraordinary. And then the ending hit me. Pretty hard. But I was not the only one to get hit.
What if one day you lost your life only to become something entirely else? Their actions influenced, their judgment flawed. Mysteries about protagonist's accident keeping the whole thing even more exciting than one might expect.
The protagonist is feisty and energetic, the whole main cast is rather distinct and likable when it comes to characterization.
As a side dish the author seemed to prepare fun quotes for some of his chapters. Their presence also was pretty much appreciated :P - BullerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Not that this means the story is stupid or anything. It's just that when reading anything that was magic related, I would be forced into thinking that people screaming it out full-force. Just regular talking and then we get a "DISAPPOINTMENT" moment.
"the menu said something about me having a LIGHTNING affinity?"
Tell me you don't read it the same way with a straight face. Anyway, the story looks good enough. Convos seem more real, when you ingore a few big words. People are of simialir character. 5/5 - PlumParrotRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As of this review, I've read the first couple of chapters. I don't usually seek out VR world LitRPGs because I would rather something be happening in the real world. I have to say, though, that this intro caught my attention and makes me want to keep reading. There's a nice twist toward the end of the first chapter, one that caught me by surprise and made me look back to see how I missed an important detail (were they playing on train tracks!? Oh, no, they were in a house near the tracks!) and I enjoy the dialogue that the two characters have with each other.
The author's style is good but could use a little more showing and a little less telling. Dialogue tags are a little overused, and I'd like to see more descriptions of character behavior during conversations. I think, overall, it's good, though. As far as grammar goes, I didn't see any glaring mistakes, and certainly none that hampered my understanding.
I found the characters engaging and enjoyed how most of the details, so far, have been revealed through dialogue.
All in all, I'm adding this to my list of stories to follow and read. - woseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall:
A solid story taking a lot of its beats straight from SAO but hey, you might as well take from the best, baby! Solid pacing, the dialogue is great without devolving into tell don't show and the graphic stuff is graphic but not so they would churn your stomach (though not recommended for the faint of heart).
If you are on the fence about getting into the litRPG genre, it's a great way to get into it.
Specifically:
I am writing this review at a very early stage because the story has progressed considerably and I'll update when I'm done but so far, this shows nothing but promise: Cyph's writing style is on point and his characters are well developed with their interaction showing off their world and history.
The system, which to me is always the part I can't stand about these types of stories (levels and aspects and elements oh my) is very solidly presented here without the author going on FOREVER about the specifics of interaction or anime-tier exposition dump.
I have no idea why this story has not gotten more exposure given the types of fictions that make it big on this website but you have to give this one a shot. It's worth it. - NatarajaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5- Style & Grammar
This is very well written, no grammar, syntax nor style issues. The situations are described very clearly. The layout is good which makes the text pleasant to read. However, English is not my native language, so I may have missed some things...
- Story
It's a little weird that Heather can't go back in the selection of her character and that there is no help on how things work. It would have been nice to elaborate more on the death of the characters and how their transfer was possible, the lack of detail about this is quite frustrating, while there are a lot of explanations about how the game works (stats, etc) which is not that interesting. The mistake of putting in realist mode seems a bit far fetched too, that said I love that they are in this mode! It's so much more interesting than having a system that prefaces everything. In summary, the idea is good but the characters don't really have an objective which prevents readers from getting into the story.
- Character
They are quite interesting, well described, but nothing exceptional apart from that. They should be more developed by giving them qualities, flaws, and especially more apparent emotions. The secondary characters are more interesting. - MarytheGorgonRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I would to clarify when I say basic I mean every component to make a great story in this sub genre is here. I love the story and I think it does things rather well compared to others I've read and reviewed. But I would have to agree with others that the main characters aren't very special and rather mundane, but this is actually pretty good for the story so far. I've read six chapters and we've basically just begun to get the ball rolling.
The girls death is after thought to the main plot as in its written and moved past fast. This isn't a bad thing as it shows that the author clearly wants to dive head first into the grind and stats aspect of being stuck in a VR. Which I'm super glad and pleased with as many (including myself) tend to add way to much fluff before moving onto the important parts that matter.
I like both girls and how it's obvious one is more experienced than the other. The player types they chose also affective their mentalities and health in good and seriously sad ways, the teenagers in this story are truly going through it and not just from having died in a quick but brutal way. Nothing else has really happened plot wise besides grinding, learning more about the game and the affects of their avatars and the restrictions it gives them hitting the girls head on. So I cannot complain about it as I'm only 6 chapters in.
If you like this genre but want a more slowed down, grind heavy and female lead story, give this a try.
