At first, you're greeted with something "heartwarming"; kids dreaming of becoming like their heroes, a group of friends going to school, enjoying music class, and joking around. Especially with Usagi's nickname as a "bunny," Takei's memories of her mother's lullabies, and the playful interactions among the friends, my first thought was... cute.
At least, until you dive deeper, and then, BAM, the tension hits hard! The atmosphere shifts with the introduction of a "secret organization" (hmmm, I won't spoil who they are!), cases of missing students, and even underground movements. This story seems to balance personal growth with the weight of societal unrest, posing questions about trust, resilience, and the nature of good versus evil (kind of awesome, really).
But I think this is the charm of the story—Dynamic storytelling.
You get this balance of them living their daily lives, cute girls doing cute things, and just when you've had enough of that, you're served with action, tension, challenges, conflict! I'm sure the author uses this contrast to keep readers on edge, blending innocence with suspense to create a unique, captivating experience. And I know it's working well as I read it.
Get ready for a rollercoaster ride from the daily life of "what would you like to cook today?" to the exhilarating "cornered by the situation so you have to serve the evil"! But is it all jarring? Nope, sure nope. The gradual revelation feels right because there are many hints here and there (I also think there are some "bread crumbs" plot twists >w>)
Plus point: the English is super smooth and easy to read, so you can enjoy the story anytime.
My last thought about this story... I wouldn't be surprised if, in the end, "Last Remnants" takes on a vibe and tone similar to "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" (if you know what I mean). I bet that would be very interesting OvO)7

In this story, we follow Takei, a high school girl in Japan, navigating the tense atmosphere following a catastrophic event at a military base where 128 people lost their lives -- it starts with a bang.
The story is engaging, using an eerie atmosphere to weave a sense of suspense and impending doom, heightened by the blend of mundane school life and the mysterious cult threat. The dialogue is well-crafted, capturing each character’s personality and hinting at the cultural and generational divide in their reactions to the crisis. For instance, Takei’s father’s solemn struggle with classified documents contrasts sharply with her friends’ casual dismissals and jokes, providing depth to the narrative.
Iammmunyosu establishes a rich, foreboding atmosphere that keeps the reader on edge. There's often an ethereal, almost mystical quality to the writing, that contrasts well with the darker, conspiratorial tone. The story is engaging and well-structured, gradually introducing the reader to the world’s darker undercurrents. The contrast between the seemingly innocent setting of the school and the threats posed by the Remnants is a strong point, creating a layered and immersive narrative.
Overall, the story has potential as a slice-of-life dystopian tale, effectively setting up a coming-of-age journey under the shadow of a mysterious and possibly apocalyptic threat, and I look forward to seeing how it will develop.

I think the prologue starts off with strong energy, introducing Ogata as a heroic figure, which immediately draws attention. The childlike enthusiasm of the characters, particularly Usagi & her friends, feels charming, & I believe their dynamic adds a lighthearted touch to the otherwise tense backdrop of the world. However, I think the pacing can feel rushed, especially during transitions between scenes. For ex, the sudden shift from the playful living room to Bones dark confrontation feels a bit abrupt. I also believe more character development for Takei would help other readers connect with her, as her inner thoughts aren't fully explored yet.

This story is so cool! The powers, the whole system, the powers of the Remnants! At first it seems like a typical anime story, but changes into something more neat with the passing chapters. All the characters are so cool and Usagi is my favorite! Her toughness is so captivating and all the other six friends are awesome too!
The story itself is a slow start, but once it gets into it, it gets better and better and it made me keep reading more and more, I can't say enough how much I loved going page to page, chapter to chapter, it all felt even cooler with each passing word! It starts with them being in school and then having to save their friend, after that things get really interesting whenever they get their powers and start to learn how to use them all the while being introduced to the menacing villains and learning more about the world and why it is the way it is.
It makes me so hopeful to see the author continue with this story and to build upon it more, everything about it is so unique, exciting and it keeps getting better and better with passing time and I can't wait to read more! If you're reading this you should definitely give this a read! You won't regret it!

Cool idea, this would make a good anime. You can tell it's a real passion project for the author, and the character illustration is a nice touch.
    What I liked:
Characters are the strongest part. The author does a great job maintaining unique voices and personalities with a large caste. Usagi was the most interesting.
Plot is a cool idea. I liked seeing snapshots of the characters growing up, and the looming threat of the Remnants gives suspense to even mundane interactions.
Dialogue seemed very real. It is an interesting contrast between the innocent playful banter of the friends and the severity of their situation.
Eloquent prose mixed in occasuonaly with the narration. Another nice point of contrast between more simple dialogue.
Superpowers hidden in plain sight. This sets up a ton of potential for future story for mistaken identity and all manner of subterfuge.
    Grammar
    Disliked:
The conversations sometimes seemed too trivial and unrelated, like a filler episode in anime. The author uses the banter for character development and information, but maybe mixing in more action would help.
The characters seem to have too little conflict between them. Even a group of friends has conflicting interests.
Would like to see more detailed descriptions of scenery and characters throughout to help keep track of them and visualize.

The prologue instantly got me excited! It was a mysterious, touching, and heartbreaking chapter that went from zero to a hundred in action, sure to keep readers turning the pages.
At times, the story felt dialogue-heavy, but each moment was engaging, and the banter was amusing. The characters are extremely lovable too. The chapters also explored their past and growth, which was a nice touch.
Some scenes could, in my opinion, slow down a little, but that just makes this a fantastic story for those who enjoy fast-paced writing. The introduction of new characters and names could also be spaced out a bit more.
The plot itself was fascinating -  the secret organization was a brilliant idea, and I can’t wait to see how things develop! You pay wonderful attention to detail. I especially liked how the characters, as students from Japan, struggled to read English text.
Overall, I enjoyed this. Each chapter had something thrilling and compelling happening, and I found it hard to stop reading, even to take breaks. The descriptions of the surroundings were vivid enough for me to picture each setting, which is always a great sign.
There are no issues with the grammar either. Great job!

"Last Remnants" is a fun and fast-paced fantasy which tells of six childhood friends gifted with the superpowers of Remnants, which they must use to fight evil.
The story immediately recalls a lot of nostalgic anime, such as Sailor Moon, with a cast of bickering heroes trying to figure out the best way forward. The characters themselves are all well-written and sharply defined, and their banter is definitely another positive.
There’s also quite a lot of world-building going on, as some of the Remnants are seen as a fearsome cult, only adding to the intrigue. There's a lot to love about this story, and nearly all of it comes down to the cast and their interactions. The characters are all particularly loveable, and you can really buy them as friends who are constantly egging one another on.
There are a few things that could be improved. The chapters can be very long, and are usually prone to being very dialogue-heavy. It also feels like the story takes a while to get going, and some of the transitions feel a bit abrupt. Still, these can be improved in future chapters.
Still, it's a very fun web fiction and definitely one fans of anime should check out.

This is not only enjoyable but a fantastic story to read. When I started it hooked me and now I want to read more
The writing style is easy to follow, and the usage of dialogues creates great interactions with characters which will help with characters development.
The story so far is amazing and with a worth reading plot. I'm intrigue on the release of the next chapters whether it's going to stick with the way it's being presented.
Grammar isn't an issue, but I may have seen one or two mistakes but overall, it is good.
Even though we are not as in depth with the characters due to the limited number of chapters. I will still say that this is an impressive cast of characters.

First, let me say that Last Remnants is an almost wholly unique fiction, particularly in the context of Royal Road. For me this gives the story extra points, as I love the creativity involved in the creation of the story.
The story itself is well built - the world is well thought out and designed, the characters are rounded and varied, the plot is laid out nicely and you can tell the author has lots of ideas and big plans for the future.
Still, for style and story I had to dock a point. I think there needs to be some work done ironing out your sentence structures to help clarify your message, particularly in earlier chapters. For example:
They all five pound the door, breaking it open. They tumble down marble, rolling down like rolled wet napkins hitting the street with a wet squish.
There are spots similar to this peppered throughout that really need to be rewritten and considered to make sure they flow well.
I mention this author to author. Readers are fickle - they don’t want to have to work to understand your story, they want you to do the work so they can sit back and imagine. So working on these things will make your story better and it will make readers gravitate towards you and increase your retention rates.
    Grammatically I didn’t notice issues.
Characters are the strong point of Last Remnants, and the relationships between them are the biggest selling point of this story. The villain are also nicely written and you can tell that a lot of thought went into defining each individual in Last Remnants.
I would recommend this story to anyone interested in a magical adventure through a deep world filled with complex characters, and I think it’s worth the read.

I wish I could describe this any better, but it's pretty much the main setting, especially the magical girl part. What makes this unique, however, are its dark elements even in the prologue, kind of like an 80s comic book if it was any other genre. The references to magical girl shows really shine through. We've got a character named Usagi for crying out loud.
Style: gotta say, I'm not a fan of present tense writing. Some sentences would switch to past tense, which is pretty jarring. Beyond that, the prose is still readable and engaging.
Story: quite unique for the site we're in. It's a magical girl story with superhero elements, and it pulls no punches with the darker stuff. The dialogue exchanges were a bit of a slog to go through, but it still drives the plot forward.
Grammar: not a lot of grammar or spelling errors, tbh. Some sentences made no sense to me, but I understood them quickly after a reread.
Character: remember what I said about magical girls and the references? Yeah, it comes out pretty boldly throughout the story, only with darker themes, as I've pointed out. For one, I thought the Bones guy from the prologue would be some Tuxedo Mask wannabe, but nope. He was a full-on terrorist.
Overall, I see a lot of potential.
