Koyuki, the Necromancing Foxkin

Description

Koyuki is a slave until an incident awakens her powers. With her death magic affinity she has the potential to become a powerful necromancer. In exchange for her freedom she has to attend the Royal Military Academy and serve in the army for 10 years. Follow her journey as she learns about magic, makes new friends and raises all kinds of undead creatures. This story is a mixture of slice of life in an academy setting with some action sprinkled on top. While it is light-hearted it does feature graphic violence, cute undead, a few explosions and a rather powerful main character. There is some romance (yuri) but it not the focus of the story.

So far it has been funny and just and enjoyable adventure. The cat is adorable and silly. The party works well together. Very interesting.
Main Char development is going nicely, and is getting cool powers. Yes she is OP, but that is rather normal in these types of books. I liked how the group is training hard, even when they don't have to.
The Iron Beaks idea is just silly. Oddly, it might actually work out and be rather deadly, and is great training for the group. Silly ideas come from drinking. Still, having an explosive walk to the enemy's camp and explode is the necro version of an RPG.

It is a very enjoyable series for those not looking for something serious. At its heart its light hearted and easy reading.
The main cast are generally well put together and fun to read. Some characters, specifically the antagonists and minor reoccurring characters could use some more depth to them but it does not detract from the story overmuch as long as it is the type of story you are looking for.
Overall a good story with lots of potential.

This is a slow Story. If your looking for action packed adventure this certianly isn't it. However it has its own charm. It's quite enjoyable to watch the character slowly progress along and get stronger while learning new things. I am very much looking forward to reading more about the main characters journey through out the academy.

This is a fun and engaging story. The chapter lengths are decent without a lot of extra useless fluff. The main character shows great personal growth. The story as a whole so far keeps me interested in the next chapter. I am glad I found this story and recommend others try it out.

Definitely recommended. It’s not particularly fast paced, which is why I’m calling it slice-of-life here, but the characters are fun and so is the story. Prose is good, technical writing is good too, 10/10 would read again. (Actually, I’ve already read it three times.)
Note: I’m writing this review on basically no sleep so it’s probably not great but eh, the book’s good. I’ll probably edit it later.

This is much better then the title and description would lead you to believe.
The characters are well done, and feel real.
There isn't a system, so power is based of mana pool, and knowledge. The main character does not seem too overpowered, her main advantages are not anything truly unique with the exception of the combination of advantages. So far it only seems to help her skip a couple of years of training for both her mana pool and knowledge. She's still a freshman though so she's comparatively overpowered with her classmates.
The magic system is a softer magic system then novels with a status or system. It does still have rules but they seem flexible so far and it's got enough depth to it to make it fun.
Overall I see a lot of potential here and an author who seems capable of capturing it.

The story has simple prose (sometimes too simple) and a somewhat OP main character, but I really enjoyed it.
We have sequences of fights and downtime - the heroes don't just train non-stop and fight, but also take time to celebrate achievements and to have a rest.
The characters are memorable and enjoyable.
    I'll continue reading :)

I first found this as a book on Amazon which contains the first 187 chapters. It does have a bit of editing and reads better, but overall is the same as the RR version.
Story: A slice-of-life story following a non-human Foxkin in a human society. She starts out as a powerless slave and is uplifted to freedom when she shows talent as a necromancer. In return for a 10 year commitment in the military, she will attend a school to grow her talents. The world building is done well with showing that while the Main Character is powerful they are still a small fish in a big world. Topics such as slavery, discrimination, xenophobia, and gay relationships are covered.
Style: First person with a slow growth weak to Over Powered. While not a harem, she does get a girlfriend and grows followers.
Grammar: Overall the grammar is very well done with few errors.
Characters: The main character is female and relates best with other females. Males are not shown in a good light. The MC is a necromancer and creates her own undead, both tier-2 (dumb) and tier-3 (smart). These become part of her followers and are important to the story.
    Overall an entertaining story. Recommended.

    I love this series ❤
It has a nice blend of drama, action, world bilding and slice of life that gives it a realistic feeling despite the fantastic elements.
The story is werry slow burn giving us time to bond with the main cast for an example we see how the hobby of one of the main girls slowly spreads through the group. The slow pace also gives us time to meet the characters around the main 4.

story-wise the setting seems interesting, magic is explained in a cool way and the groups dynamics and characterization is really well done.
i have found rather small amounts of writing errors and the whole story seems fleshed out its not a masterpiece but its really good.
this is spoiler territory do not read more
the relationship on later chapter was unexpected but not unwelcomed it was kind of hinted through the story and each couple has their moments before the reveal which i appreciate. the story focuses more on magic so far but i feel the future of the story has lots of potential with the past of the main character and the potential war incoming which probably has some traitor on the kingdom involved in it
