Although some of the transitions between time and dialogue are a bit rough, the author has a clear vision for the characters and the world they live in. I am keen on understanding the world that the author is setting up and I look forward to Tanner gaining more confidence over the course of the plot. I really liked how much the author characterized Tanner's family too--it makes Tanner feel more meaningful and dimensional as a character.

The transfer between narration and dialogue is pretty rough. The dialogue often feels stilted, and seems to interrupt the good flow of storytelling in a number of places.
