It might take a little time to get going, but the payoff is always worth it, there’s real depth here. The name Kinetica is super catchy too. Feels like something that could turn into a whole series with spin-offs or connected stories. I really hope the author keeps going. I’m in for the long haul with this one.
- TheSilentEmberRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story was honestly such a page turner! The world built is a dark and brutal place. The opening scene that we're left to mull over is two thugs threatening what they perceive to be a girl. One that they feel like they can overpower and rob from. Little do they know that they're dealing with super cop. All jokes aside this story is such a compelling tale of a girl trying to bring honor to her ruined family name! Everything in this story feels like it builds off of puzzle pieces purposely scattered around. I found it enjoyable and fun to try and piece bits and pieces of info together. Alright off my soap box.
Style Score: This one is a massive 5/5 for me. The writing pace is beautiful, impactful, and honestly in such an amazing way, it feels like Sherlock Holmes meets brutal kick ass sci-fi.
Grammar Score: 5/5 I personally didn't encounter any issues with grammar. Everything read beautifully and perfect.
Story Score: 5/5. This tale was crafted with intention. Every word felt weighted. Trimmed to perfection. Each line meant to lead it's reader where it wanted. Perfection.
Character Score: 5/5! I instantly fell in love with our MC. The fact that I empathized with her. She was someone broken trying her best to super glue the pieces together. I LOVED IT!
OVERALL.... 5 stars. Duh. Literally perfection of a story! Please get your book published. I will buy it. - Olivia HalfordRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Well written characters and world building, way to go my guy!! The actions sences, the atmosphere, the characters, the almost everything, they make me feel like i am in there while reading.Yes,there might be some boring parts but i love them soo far especially the chapter 2.Hope to see more from you my doode!!
By the way, mind i ask how long you been writing like...your writing experience? - Valerie HaroldRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I'm going to be honest here. This kind of story usually isn't my cup of tea. But I really liked watching Leiger Rosewood's journey. She's angry. She's pissed off. She's determined. And she's human. She makes a lot of mistakes. I wouldn’t call her an antihero. She’s not cold enough for that. She’s just caught in everything. Pushed into a system that keeps her moving even when she thinks she’s in control.
The action scenes are packed and deliberate. They don’t go for flash. They go for impact and cause the most damage.
The worldbuilding is sharp. You're practically watching an empire crumble in on itself. But then you stop and think, maybe it’s not really about the empire at all. Maybe it’s about the people. People like Leiger who’ve been dragged through the worst of it and are still trying to stand. Everything feels cold and industrial, like nothing’s been clean in years. The magic system fits into this world perfectly.
Sometimes I had a hard time following all the names, and Leiger's emotional turmoil could probably be dialed back a little. To be fair, that's a sin I'm guilty of too as a writer. But overall, I enjoyed what I read. - mike a penningtonRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5their lot depth to this tale, so it requires you to take the time to really read it. Yet for that same thing it asks of you, it returns a depth of a world that seems to be lost to madness.
We follow a daughter of a man who once was highly loved and one of the greatest heroes in this broken world, yet he was later found to be no better than those they tried to stop as evil.
So as she tries to redeem her name and save the fragments of her family, we follow her in this world of madness that seems simple on the surface, a dystopian space cowboy with some future tech, to slowly reveal their monster and psychic skills mixed in with the cybernetic world.
She is not a super soldier; she is a lower rank, and we follow her trying to rise in power while everything, even the world, tries to keep her down. The story doesn't hold your hand and spell everything out, but if you read and follow, you get to live in the world right alongside our MC as the cast slowly grows larger as you learn about new people.
There are only a few chapters, but each has a lot happening per chapter, so even where I stopped and reviewed, there were many things that took place and a lot of world-building and lore explored.
A minor nitpick was the sheer depth of things that exist and are unknown to us as a reader; though they slowly unfold in some aspect, the cast knows it since to them it is normal, so you have to pay attention and learn from context or the few clues they share, such as the limit of their weapons or why they are made the way they are, the rifts and monsters, and how the mystic skills exist, such as telekinesis.
Most of those things have answers if you read the book, but a few remain unclear. The book is not done, so there is plenty of time for even more lore and depth to be expanded upon. Is the reason why I say it is a minor nitpick.
If you're looking for a good, serious book with a lot of depth and good grammar, this is your book. Looking for something quick, easy, and just a lot of sh - ndsireRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I loved the character development about how her father dishonored the family and now she has to rebuild her honor. It makes me curious about the backstory. Kinetica is such a cool name. The title grabbed my attention. I love short punchy titles like that. I am going to keep track of this series. I want to know more about what happens. Does she end up rebuilding her honor? And what did her father commit that's so bad? That's what drives good stories.
