Kalender: Antithesis of a Harem World
Community Rating
Description
Harems have become too powerful. Reincarnators fall prey to temptation and poor relationship development, and no woman is truly safe from a life of emptily yearning for one man.
Thus, the Goddess of Reincarnation chooses a new champion, a man whom she hopes will oppose the blight of haremism, emancipate the men of Gaia from their self-deprecating stupor, and overall, just be a decent guy for once in this world.
Watch as he walks into a female companion in the middle of changing, then promptly turns around, apologizes, and leaves without being magicked in the ass because it's not really that big of a deal.
There's only one bed? No problem.Need some personal space? Gotchya.Developing mutual feelings? Let's talk it out.
In this tale, the true fantasy is the fulfilling friendships and mutually-assured relationships along the way.

Taking one look at my chapter upload timestamps will tell you more about how consistently inconsistent I am lol. (Indeed, this story won't die ... but at what cost?)

- scarecrow.authorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What would happen if you took a harem but with none of the dirty stuff and all of the heart-warming wholesomeness? The answer is "something great". Now, slap on top of it a good amount of great comedy and this is what you are looking at.
Not gonna lie, the first scene got me good, the kind of humor I like. The author had my attention and now only needed to keep it. They did a very good job at it with what came next.
What happens next is an epic bamboozlement, followed by the MC spawned in a new world where he is both viewed as a wild beast and tried to be seduced, but the power of friendship is there to say "get your mind out of the gutter"
Overall, it's a funny, wholesome series that doesn't sacrifice the plot to achieve that.
If I could say one thing, when the MC is spawned at first, you get a lot of names and groups introduced together, which, along with the switches in POVs made it a bit confusing at first, but it clears out real quick, like, in less than a chapter, so it's not a problem at all
5/5, would definitely recommend! Read this, people! - AustimizedRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What man wouldn't kill for the ability to have women hang on his every word and to have no choice but to eventually give in to his alluring charm, regardless of how alluring or charming he actually is?
The MC of Platonic Harem Revolution for one!
This story takes a delightful turn on the harem story wherein the cause of the MC's female-accrual is a "Blessing" from a god no one seems to really like, Said "Blessing" magically and Systematically increases women's affection for him once he speaks to them, increasing graudually from "thinks he cute" to "must fanatically worship him".
This turns out to be a curse not only due to the laws against such powers in the kingdom he's reincarnated into, but since he's actually a decent dude who thinks women are people rather than objects for sexual gratification, prizes to win and/or rescue, or minimal side-characters useful mostly for titilation.
Instead of using his blessing/curse as everyone else expects he turns to a novel approach and starts earns their respect. Rather than "using and losing" them, he listens to, gets to know, and establishes friendships based on mutual admiration and rapport.
Aside from this refreshing and pleasant (and occasionally laugh-out-loud-funny) path the author walks through the harem sub-genre, this story drops enough System in to keep Progression fans engaged. The MC's gradual discovery of ways to use his seemingly-purely-social abilities to increase his Systematic power are clever and keeps the fire of LitRPG crunchiness kindled as the story progresses.
All good stuff in both qualitative and moral terms! - DaijenaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Such a wholesome energy story that it will instantly give diabetes from sugar overload. One of the most respectable mc's out there. This is more convincing of the beauty of friendship than a Shonen, without the annoying yeeling
The writing and world building is also really good. Infinite/10 would respect others again, always. - Enoch LambertRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just a couple chapters in, and I can already tell this story is going to be great. A wholesome deconstruction of harem reincarnation stories, with a main character who will be the kind of hero we need.
Every chapter provides many laughs, and the whole thing is a joy to read. - Flch1cksRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is amazing! The MC is a fairly normal guy (from our world) who grew up to appreciate women without wanting to f#@$ them all the time. He is snatched to a world which has a serious harem problem in the hopes that he can fix things.
Unfortunately, it seems that "someone" is actively trying to work against correcting this issue as he is "blessed" (although the MC and everybody else considers it a curse) by what seems to be a God of Harems? This creates problems from the get-go as the people in this world are mostly aware of what is going on and REALLY don't approve.
I think the "harem-reversal" thing that is going on here is great. The MC just wants to be friends with the ladies he meets.
I also really like how the author shows the change in relationship by using a stat change. Going from AFFECTION to whatever stat fits the individual lady is a great touch!
Having Jyn the knight’s stat change to RESPECT is a well thought out idea on the author’s part as it goes well with her character and personality as a military girl.
As for Page, our young librarian, EXCITEMENT is an excellent idea as who hasn’t been young and full of dreams of going on an adventure?
I can't wait to see what happens next and what other encounters the MC might have.
I am also looking forward to more magic as I really like how the author is seems to finally be taking advantage of the "understand all languages in your new world" trope and how it interacts with the magic system. It's also very amusing how the translation of some of these spells can cause some very funny situations. Burning cookies anyone?
All in all, this is a great start to a new series! - GeneratorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What do you get from good writing, fun perspectives, and a platonic relationship between two people and smashing a harem into it?
An amazing literary work meant to praise a genuine good man.
I wish to base myself on this chad of a guy and become a better person. Anyway just saying that this is a good read. - Kenzo456Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Its a unique World with a MC that views relantionship in a different way.
The world has some shaddy stuff happening in the shadows and is really fun to read those.
Nobody expects the inquisition, they are every where!
The Magic stuff is interisting and the MC power can become super op. - LightBlueAndGoldenBrownRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm glad the author is writing this. As part of the Anti Harem Strike Force (AHSF) I find immeasurable joy in the very concept of this story's existence. As a guy who has always liked hanging out with girls my age much more than boys, male (and to a lesser extent female) harem MC's make me nauseous. Like, to the point where I won't read stories tagged with harem no matter what.
The main charictar acts similar to how I would in his situation, respecting the personal autonomy of his new friends and trying to mitigate his curse as much as possible. I just like the concept of a harem MC who doesn't want to be a harem MC.
PS: Invitations to KeeperAbra to join AHSF, we always need more members. - PizzaPizzaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have to say I was blown away. This is hands down the single most wholesome isekai I'd ever read.
The MC is a reincarnator that is 'Blessed' with the ability to effectively dominate and mind control women with but a few words. Of course, he rightfully treats it as a curse as do all the people around him in the new world.
Fundamentally, this is a story about friendship, boundaries and respect. All themes I can get behind! - Amine Jr.Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Kalender the Candleheart is exactly what it says it is. It's all the warm fuzzies that you might get from a well written harem and a slice of life, but without all the disgusting bits.
Women are people, not objects, and this story clearly gets that.
My only issue with the story might be the fact that the world has a rather low bar set for men considering the circumstances. So a really nice guy like Kalender who knows how to clearly communicate with people seems like the perfect guys in the eyes of nearly every woman who gets to know him.
It's not that he's a bad character, it's that the setting makes him look like he's a moment away from becoming your usual kind hearted harem protag. Thankfully, if there's one thing I can trust the author not to do, it's turn this into a harem story.
Also, the does not get nearly enough attention. The comment section is usually dead and I've been able to get a first spot several times on chapters over a year old. For such a well written story, it's a real shame.
