Description
Each human contains a spark of divinity. Only a few learn to access it, but for those few a reward awaits them in the afterlife.
Meet Karlus, a 26-year old construction manager who managed to access his spark. Join him on a journey of discovery as he explores a new world and new powers and meets new friends and ancient heroes to help him along on his journey.
A western-style Xianxia with a few other tropes.
*Note: I started this on a whim and updates will be sporadic and slow. I'm mainly posting here to allow my friends easier access for proofreading, but if anybody else wants to read and comment then I'd welcome your criticism as well.
No romance. Language. Drug Use (kinda). Gore.

- octonusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ecxellent writing, a protagonst that isn't an insane murder-hobo, and a setting that makes sense. The only negative is that there is relatively little plot in the first few chapters, just a setup for the characters/setting.
- Books003Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The character score should have like 10 stars this story is epic and I love it. I really enjoy the story line and the character I did think that because of his healing is what made his spark that he should be doing more healing. But maybe that's not come up yet
- EproRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far as of chapter 14 I like everything about this book, them mc isn't stupid and when he makes mistakes it's understandable ones. The grammar is great and I love the slow training we have now. Keep the good job up!
- Redeyes EclipseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love reading your work thank you for this exciting story
- VercynthixRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was honestly surprised when I started this novel. Instead of the expected over exposition and awkward dialogue that neither furthers relationships nor the plot, I was greeted by an eloquent attention-grabbing paragraph that dove right into engaging content. One of my least favorites starts to a story is the all too cliché MC wakes up in bed, gets up, and then exposés about something. This story stayed far away from that. With compelling descriptions and engaging well thought out systems, it is a story that I wish had more chapters than it does.
Something else that is well done in this novel is the use of mood and the weight of the emotions that the MC has. During the warfare scene where Karlus is describing warfare on earth, he really feels agitated to the reader. When he is with the Unicorns it feels like he is reminiscing. Nothing in this story feels mechanical and its something that I can truly appreciate about a good novel. I hope to see this story update further into the future. - Bill501Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of the best Xianxia style books I've read in a long time. I hope you keep going with this story! Thanks for making the effort.
- KikanoloRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Jumpspark is a solid and well-done story that has a lot of potential to become even better going forward.
The basic premise of the story is that people who touch the spark of magic within them before they die are allowed to be continue their lives in other worlds with selected gifts from the pantheon. The MC is one of those, and chooses his magic gifts and the type of world he wants to go to. While the premise is straightforward, it is executed very well.
Regarding character, the initial few chapters of the story do an excellent job of establishing the MC's character. The chapters show a down-to-earth MC who is a good and reasonable person and getting the reader to empathize with him. The MC's actions and development so far have felt consistent with his personality and satisfying. The only other character of note so far is the mentor character, who has also been portrayed very well.
The style of the story has been effective so far at estabilishing characters and building the world, and the pace of the story has been good so far.
The magic system has been well-explained so far and is quite interesting, and while the worldbuilding is still in its early stages it has been very promising.
It is difficult to say much about plot, since the story has only just started embarking on larger scale plotlines, but the early plotlines so far covering the MC's introduction and integration into his chosen world have been great, as have the plotlines concerning his learning about the world and its magic.
Finally, the story has been well edited so far, with few grammar issues.
Overall, this is a westernized xianxia with a well-developed MC and a lot of potential going forward. - JadensynRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5i am not really one for the wuxia/xianxia stuff, been burned too many times by terrible writing and worse power fantasies, but this? yeah, this is fine.
the intro is well balanced and paced, engaging and well thought out, everybody is fairly reasonable in their reactions (a rarity for wuxia) while still sticking to the core systems.
The Mc is likable, the world, while having not being fleshed out in story yet, has some appeal and is overall definitely something to keep an eye on.
Keep it up!
Jade - hakatri ginRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0So far (chapter 15) the story is still laying the groundwork and it has enough personality to distunguish itself, at this point is mostly the training part but is a right mix of detail and progress to not become stale
If the story develops a big plot it will become really good because irrelevant arcs are the weakness of most xianxias, worth tracking - WednesdaysJestRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I got 20% through what the author has written before I gave up. The first chapter does an excellent job of preparing the transition, but the next two chapters are spent wasting words for little return. By chapter 4 I was mostly done, but since I was finally through the setup I wanted to give the story one last shot. To my frustration, after 4 chapters I was still yet to see anything but an extended prologue.
The writing isn't bad, though the dialogue is stilted and frequently broken up by tangents. Sometimes that works to quickly establish some characterization, but mostly it just caused the story's flow to crawl. The characterization is likewise workable, though a bit lackluster once past chapter one. Syle wise I'm not a huge fan of the mid-conversation tangents, I don't feel they add much to the story to compensate for what they detract.
All together I found myself getting bored while reading. Perhaps if the opening narrative hook was really solid I'd be willing to slog through the long setup, but lacking that I found my time better spent elsewhere. If the slow start isn't an issue, then this might be an interesting stroy. Just because I wandered off before getting to that point doesn't mean that the same is true for every reader.
