- WordVoreRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a great Worm x Jujutsu Kaisen crossover. Taylor Hebert, our favorite queen of escalation, is our protagonist and she gets one tiny point of divergence right before she's dropped into this new world where she can shine with her love of throwing hands when she absolutely does not need to. My favorite active fic right now!
Style
The author maintains a smooth writing style while respecting the feel of characters from two separate stories. The prose can switch from serious to playful and maintain that same feel without messing up the flow. More thinky sections keep you engaged while combat puts you right in the headspace of the protagonist.
Story
The author knows what they're doing, we start with Taylor with one small divergence and we chart a new path in Jujutsu Kaisen with this different Taylor. It wouldn't be Jujutsu Kaisen without proper respect given to fights and the author honors this aspect of the story. The story is still a bit new but it definitely looks quite promising.
Grammar
No complaints about grammar, it's obviously got several passes. Don't see typos or poor grammar.
Character
Characterization is one of its strongest points. The protagonist is a faithful character insert with a believable evolution because of her new circumstances. Side characters are distinct and memorable, playing off of each other and the protagonist to create interesting scenes. - ArcanaVitaeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I started reading this over on Spacebattles and it's great to see this on Royal Road. It's a wonderful story that really has Taylor exploring her inner self, nature and values. The combination of Taylor as a person delving into jujutsu, the culture and mentality is really interesting. Teira is both someone who was Taylor but also feels enough like her that you can see that this is what a Sorcerer version of Taylor would probably be like. Seeing how she explores and expands on sorcery and effects jujutsu society is an interesting process.
- AsteraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is the best kind of fanfiction, a story that takes place in the Univers of JJK but doesn’t follow the main plot as most stories tend to do. At the time of this review, the story also hasn’t progressed past gojos child hood, which means it couldn’t have followed the original even if it wanted to. Taylor’s character is done right (as far as I can tell), there are truly no issues in this story.
Except for the lack of side characters we would care for, but it’s also early enough that it’s hardly a negative yet and is likely to Change either with the OG cast or OCs - Eileen1996Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Mercy toward oneself can be cruelty toward others.
That is, in a way, how I see this fanfic.
Most people know that the world is neither fair nor just, but we understand that to different degrees.
Sometimes what we think is fair turns out to be the opposite, because our judgment is shaped mostly by our experiences. Raise a child with love, and you may get a hero. Raise that same child with hatred, and you get a curse.
Teira, the protagonist, sees what is happening, endures the kind of cruelty that only conservatism and the will of the powerful can produce, and decides that she has to do something about it.
Fortunately, this is not one of those fanfics where nothing really changes except for an added character, a few bits of dialogue, and some shenanigans, only for everything to end up following canon anyway. This is a story that can make readers feel sad, hyped, disgusted, and even enlightened.
It is disturbing, because it challenges what readers may have thought was fair or acceptable before they started reading. If you feel disturbed or attacked by it, then maybe there is something in your worldview worth reexamining. And if you do not, then I suppose you had better hope that a version of Teira never exists in our world.
k - AvidReader2425Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great. This is a really great Fanfiction at its core, with some really interesting, moral quandaries, and a character who is suffering from a massive amount of PTSD, getting put into another sole crushing scenario.
All the characters are honestly very well written. I admit, I’m honestly just familiar with the Fanfiction of both franchise, so others can comment on character, accuracy, but regardless, still well written. I am always very invested in the main character, Taylor, as well as her own personal journey and development in regards to both her power, and character. It’s super interesting to see how she adapts to this new world, starting and rather horrible conditions, coming off from a world that already pushed her to her mental limits.
as she continues to evolve, exploring more of this cursed world, bringing in more characters, that becomes more enjoyable still. She has a really great balance of incredible ruthlessness, certain self delusions, but as the story develops, genuinely doing her own thing to help people.
regardless, I imagine she will be controversial, but that’s also made the story very entertaining to read overall. I think the story honestly deserves a try for most readers familiar with the worlds, but also well written enough that you can go into it honestly pretty blind. - BlackMountainRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fantastic fic, despite the thickly laid on political agenda. I wouldn't mind a story solely focused on a feminist crusade, it's interesting in its own rights. But the current fiction straddles multiple issues in a balance that is not too credible. Feminism takes on a similar importance to ending curses, even overshadows it. And it just feels unwarranted. Whilst the protagonist has built some believable motivation for her crusade, it doesn't feel enough given the narrative weight of it. I think the author should decide to either cut it out, or integrate it more deeply into the story. Right now it feels tacked on.
Despite that, the other 80% of the story is a grim dark power fantasy and really good. It weaves Jujutsu Kaisen and Worm in a very satisfying way. The power scales quickly, but that's fine. It only becomes a bit jarring when juxtaposed with... The high school arc. The switch seems like an abrupt step back, and it's a bit of a shocker to the reader. It's not a full suspension of disbelief, but it could be handled better.
Overall, a strong recommend. Apparently I'm not at 200 words yet so I will write one more sentence to finalize this review. I recommend this fiction. - Qcumber999Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Sorry for this poorly written review; it's my first time writing something, so bear with me with my thoughts if you are curious about the messy thoughts I have of this fanfic. I am surprised by how little attention this gem of a fan fiction is getting. I really like how it adds to the world-building (or lack of world-building) of JJK that it needed, especially curse users and how they operate, though that is mostly sidelined now in the recent chapters, and although the gender inequality is sometimes a bit in the nose, it isn't a major put-off for me and is already a theme that is explored in JJK, so a further exploration is neat. I also liked how the author used binding vows and it being fair instead of an ass pull; the characters we know of are also written especially well and act like how they do in the series. I just can't wait to see how the plot goes for this version of JJK since Kenjaku helped the MC at the start of the series. What will his preparations be like for the MC? How will it affect his final plan? can't wait to find out
- Reader8991Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Don't really have a structured critique just wanted to show my appreciation of the story. This is a spoiler free review but if you want to go in completely fresh just stop here and take my word this is peak fiction.
Taylor's character evolution really clicked with me, even when I felt she is being a bit hypocritical and irrational as it made sense to me considering her situation. I really liked the power mechanics, especially Taylors's clan's CT and how balanced it is, the introspection on the nature of cursed energy and ripple effects which Taylor's actions have had is also a delight to read about.
Also really like how the story manages to flesh out all the different characters. - Zythix DynamoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Are you a fan of Jujutsu Kaisen? Do you also enjoy grimdark isekai or power fantasies? Do you perchance enjoy reading Worm fanfics?
If you enjoy even *one* of these things, then I order you to read this. Now.
This story starts in a way you might've seen the generic outline of before: Post-GM Taylor gets dropped into a different world. That's where the 'been-there-done-that' stuff ends. The author has added and slightly changed the lore/history of JJK to create a fitting and suitable (evil laughter) environment for Taylor to grow up in (again) (more evil laughter) in the form of a new, original Curse User clan.
She's born in the same year as Gojo Satoru, and the butterfly effects from that are as unambiguously gigantic as you might imagine. I won't spoil anything else. Read it yourself.
