Community Rating
Description
Jay, a young cable installation tech suffering from a horrible accident is given a choice: Die from his injuries or undergo an experimental procedure that would end with him locked in a computer simulation. A game. But it's not a game for Jay as there is no logging out; for him that game is now his life. Follow Jay in his adventures as he comes to terms with a new reality.
This story is written in a peril-light style and focuses on the main character as he lives his daily life in a simulation. He is not a combat focused character but does run through plenty of dungeons. Those looking for a main character chasing a god-given destiny or a vital world-defining quest might do better to look at other stories. Jay isnota savior, but he is helpful at heart.
This story is updated daily, with minor exceptions for appointments and life events.

- WetdryvacRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've very much enjoyed this, from a decently structured plot to some nifty character development as it goes along. Kinda gobsmacked by some of the authors here with insane high-volume output, and this is no exception. Regular chapters, very few errors in grammar and spelling, and decent variation as it goes along.
- McBlasterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Our MC, Jay, has an accident on Earth while installing cables on a RICH guys house. He would of died if not for the opportunity for his consciousness to be uploaded into a game.
Jay is a good guy, like a really good guy that is willing to help out whenever he can. Unlike most MC good guys he doesn't get used or taken advantage of by unscrupulous people, while not as of yet anyhow, and I believe the author doesn't intend for that to happen.
Arriving into the game world of Eden, he has been given a trifecta of important character things. One being the class of Adventurer, Character specification of Traveler and the Title of Prophet.
His Prophet Title doesn't take to much of a lead early on as he's able to hide it away from peoples sight at the instruction of a helpful guild member Dag.
The Adventurer and Traveler parts on the other hand is what the story is written around.
The Adventurer class is often seen as a poor one due to having no combat or healing abilities, but rather as a support class that no-one wants in a dungeon party.
The Traveler has not been seen in Eden for a long time and has unique qualities that are very influential to the story, sorry won't put in spoilers about this one.
I was hooked on this book after the first dungeon run which happens about 20 chapters in.
Looks like we will be getting lots of dungeons, loot, abilities and skills with a couple of good friends he makes while in the Adventure Guild training program.
It's a full 5 star story so far in my opinion and hope that I won't be needing to downgrade it. Also 250 chapters long at this point. Yay
Now at chap 150, things are still good. The relationship between Jay and his lass is at times a little to much but still fine. Aiden seems to always want food. All the side characters have been well written fleshed out. - Kara92Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story is cute, not in a dismissive way but in a peaceful way.
No OP MC fighting for his life every time against incredible odds in order to save the world. Just an everyday Joe out of its depth, doing his best and also trying to enjoy it.
It's a slice of life, literally, as there is no timeskip and we know what the MC eats at every meal !
The romance part is cringing (young teenagers level) but is not the main topic.
The real topic is Adventuring! The author has great ideas about the dungeons and ruins. The MC's skills are original too. And the loot is fun !
It's one of those stories that make you smile for the rest of the day. - ShadeByTheSeaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5It's a great story, I really like it. Sometimes the characters can have dumb moments or lack knowledge you feel they should have. Those moments are usually overshadowed by the rest of the story. Things are rarely forgotten about and when it happens you can remind the author and be sure they'll address it in a way that doesn't break the story or force a rewrite.
Just be prepared, there are virtually(pun time) no time skips, no summaries, and I'm pretty sure you could pull out a meal tracker and figure out how many calories they eat a day. It's the kind of story where you complain how long a scene or day takes but than look back fondly after the fact. Their post rate is rather high as well while mataining a level of quality, which is always a plus. - F.L. RileyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I just binge read this, a couple of comments. The amount of time you spend describing and talking about what the characters are having for meals seems excessive. It's nice to have a chat when having dinner, but the amount of description put into what each meal consists of seems nothing but filler. It would be different maybe if each meal gave stats.
You need the MC to reach 20 in all stats at level 20 to progress past that point, but the stat accumulation has been exceedingly slow. Granted he is still in training, but he dungeon dives every week, if this is the progression for stat growth it is going to take decades to meet the requirement to get past level 20.
The relationship between the MC and M'redith is cringy at times. He keeps saying he wants to keep it platonic until after training then ignores that in the next paragraph to hug, kiss, or do something that is the exact opposite of keeping it platonic.
Months of training and he still doesn't have a dodge, parry, or block skill. He seems to be amazing at defense, even if he can't get a combat skill, so why no skills to show that he has escape or defensive skills?
I like the way he gets class skills every level, it is an interesting idea I've never encountered before. I love the class skills you've given, I hope you can keep finding unique ideas as he advances.
Overall the story is worth the time I just spent. - Sea_LeonRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This story is not a bad story. I'd wager to say it's a good story. It has its flaws, but you can't expect perfection in everything.
There's a bit of leap of logic in the start of the story where it make no sense from a 'realism' perspective that Jay could not be contacted in game or have contact with the outside world while in game. Really who'd make, and publish, a game world they wouldn't have complete controll of?
Moderate spoilers ahead:
It's really just trying to force an Isekai into a VRMMO, while also keeping the tropes of a VRMMO MC who's at the top/headline of leveling. While also keeping the MC an effectively non-combatant. He does fight, but will never be good at it and it's accepted by him and everyone around him. He offers enough as it is to everyone around him thanks to his class.
The other moderate issue with the MC himself. He seems to lack a fair bit of what one would call common knowledge for the real world. Of which there's many things that he probably should know from real life yet somehow is only learning about them in the game. It's a minor issue over all, it could be argued he lived under a rock before the events of the story.
My biggest beef with the story yet also probably one of the strong points of the story is Jay's relationship with the FMC. Honestly it has a forced start or well the FMC kinda forces the relationship on Jay. It is played off as Jay being romantically deficient/a guy. You know that Shounen RomCom Trope.
Of course romance was the last thing on Jay's mind when he had effectively died like no more than two weeks before. The FMC had no way of knowing that, however the adventuring guild they are part of also had rules saying no relationships till you graduate from the course. She still went through with it and Jay just kinda went with it as well. Despite he probably should have been a bit more firm about holding off on a more serious relationship initially.
Otherwise past the initial stages of the romance, it really is like tw - LittleShoesRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0ORIGINAL REVIEW AT CHAPTER 19:
The story is decent enough so far, not much has happened yet. What i really want to talk about though is the MC.
The MC is why i took off 1 and a half stars. Now this is entirely subjective but i absolutely LOATHE MCs that can't tell their ass from their elbow when it comes to relationships or who's interested in them.
And this MC has a bad case of stupid in that area. Also, their "romance" reads like two awkward 14-16 year olds who are still figuring out which parts go where, only that's probably an insult to the 14-16 YOs.
I'm trying really hard to suspend my disbelief and enjoy the story, but the MC doesn't act his age (Which granted, the author didn't really state, but he did have a job and got promoted once or twice so i'm figuring 20 something.) at all, at this point in his life he should've been in a few relationships or at least have some idea of what goes on between two people when one of them is interested in the other.
At this point i'm having to make up my own reasons for why he's this oblivious just so i can enjoy the story, my first option is brain damage.
Oh also, he's straight up told by his "friend" that the woman is interested in him and he keeps denying it. You know what, this actually deserves having another half star taken away but i'm keeping my rating as it is cuz at least one character has two braincells to rub together.
EDIT:
Relationship stuff does get better, mostly because the two characters are basically together now and i don't have to read about the MC bumbling around (Much). Bumped up half a star.
GF is the jealous sort and is definitely, at least slightly, manipulative. Not a fan of that.
In short, keeping one star off because romantic relationships are NOT the authors strong suit and a good portion of the story is dedicated to that. - KlarelRoyal Road★★★ 3.0This story seems like it would have been better without the whole 'uploaded to a game' setup. To me it would have been better to just go with transmission/reincarnation insted of that. There is little reason for there to be perma-death in a game aside from a challenge mode, and it seems like the possibility was only included so there is the potential for future tension/problems.
- ShaloriRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I like this story but it suffers from forgetfulness.
Jay looks at and picks up random things without using his identify skill.
Aiden the ever hungry gets a magic item that can provide him food every hour and uses it a few times then never again, even when on an adventure with only chalky travel rations that he constantly and loudly complains about.
Other than that the story has a nice flow.
