- BlueLightningLCRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’m really enjoying the story from where I’ve gotten, it starts of slightly slow but by the second chapter it really gets into its stride.
The concept is like seventh sense and paranorman with the main gore coming from the murder that kicks the story off.
I enjoyed the slight body horror description combined with the almost ordinary way the world is presented even with all the ghosts. The characters seem to respond realistically and are written well.
The world building is done well, it seems as though it’s our reality but one guy can see ghosts and the reaction to this information is taken just as well by everyone else in this world as it would be in reality.
I believe the hook of the friend being murdered with no ghost is a great one as the reader and main character try and understand how that is possible which adds to the mystery aspect.
I greatly respect the amount the author is able to write in such a short amount of time and while there is some grammar and typos that is extremely understandable with the rate of writing and can easily be fixed at a later date.
I’d highly recommend this story based on what I’ve read, though the first chapter is slightly more difficult to get through it’s worth it for the rest. I’d almost recommend starting from chapter 2 as the police procedural goes over most of the relevant information except a couple character interactions which may or may not be important.
Give it a go you’ll not regret it. - KillerKittyKatIVRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This was such a fun read, and I wish there were more! It starts pretty slow, the first chapter doesn't really seem to add much of anything to the story, but that may just be me. You push through that chapter and this is incredible, it's got some humor but manages to stay fairly serious throughout. The idea of someone that can talk to ghosts managing to have a mystery like this fall into their lap is incredibly interesting! The hook of a mysterious murder that doesn't leave a ghost behind is an incredible hook, I just wish it had come earlier in the story.
Once it gets going it gets going, from chapter 2 on is just a wild ride of information and skills and the author clearly knows a good amount about what he's talking about, you can really see it in the way he describes the lockpicking.
The characters are well made, even some seemingly insignificant ghosts seem to have their own lives (or afterlives) and their own stories, even if we don't hear about most of them.
The grammar isn't great, and I understand that, this author wrote so quickly I doubt he even glanced through it for grammar errors, and I would like to see him go through and fix it because it does sort of make it hard to read.
Overall, five stars, highly recommend giving this one a shot!
