Description
Gareth just wanted to get ahead. His job as an office junior was dreary and underpaid, his life was dull and he was without any direction. So when he found a self help book that told him how to conjure a warrior spirit, he thought it was a great idea.
Perhaps he shouldn't have tried that conjuration on top of a recently disturbed Bronze Age burial mound. Now he found himself inhabited by the spirit of a warrior, a warrior with strong views who had already had a tumultuous life but whose sense of adventure and duty was undiminished by the centuries.
That wasn't the worst part. The burial mound had contained more than the warrior's remains and it was up to Gareth and that warrior spirit to deal with consequences. Gareth wasn't sure that he was glad of the extra excitement, and he could have definitely done without the werewolves, but at least he was doing better at work and that was something - right?

- BeomJunKooRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5An ordinary office worker who one day inadvertently gets dragged into a world of magic, elves, werewolves, and more unravels an entertaining urban fantasy with vibes similar to Underworld (2003), along with a collection of interesting characters to follow and a wondrous world to learn about.
The style I'd say is possibly one of the high points of the story, feeling very polished and well-written. A style like this wouldn't look out of place on the shelves of a brick-and-mortar bookstore.
Aside from very minor mistakes that doesn't take away anything from the big picture, the grammar is also just as good as the style.
As previously mentioned, the characters are an interesting bunch. Gareth pulls off the "Average Joe in an fantastical world" image well by being relatable for us to get attached, yet also by showing other great characteristics like bravery and honor, no doubt helped by the things he goes through from Bron's spirit being inside him. The others, from the side characters to the villains, are all worth getting invested in as well with their own morals, conflicts, etc. that add some good flavor to the story.
As for the story itself, it's a great read of intense action, intriguing world building, and heartfelt emotions. Though I must admit, the ending left me a little confused due to how quickly everything seemed to wrap up, along with a few loose ends. But seeing how there's another story set within the same world as this in the works as of this review's writing, I'm looking forward to seeing how the story will expand and conclude on a grander scale. - GonoaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5What you will read in this story is an interesting combination of work-life and fantasy. It may sound strange at first but it is really interesting.
Story
Very nice story. Ever sat at your desk at work and dreamt of becoming more confident and successful? That’s what you are gonna get. And not to forget the fantasy on top of that. As mentioned before, I think this is a very interesting combination. Sometimes we have work scenes, sometimes we get thrown into fantasy scenes, wondering what all this mystery might be about.
What I think could be made better was the info dump in the 4thchapter. In my opinion it would have been better to stretch this information over several chapters, maybe starting even a little earlier with it. Like this, it won’t be as overwhelming and the effect of mystery is better.
Style
The writing style might be a little confusing in the beginning. It took half the chapter for me to realize, that the bigger spaces between the sections indicate a skip in time or place. But when I got used to it, I kinda started liking it. It makes it easier for the story to flow, also giving it a little bit of an artsy feeling. So even if it is confusing at first, I think it is worth it.
Grammar
Just great. Can’t say more about that.
Characters
I really like the MC. He feels very human and I can relate very well with him, as I also have a desk job. I think it’s intersting how he deals with the situation. It doensn’t feel forced or fabricated at all. He just tries his best to keep going, trying to ignore him becoming possibly crazy.
The reaction of a character in the 5th chapter was a little weird for me though. She accepted the whole situation way too quickly, without doubting it or her own sanity. But as this is just something small, it didn’t bother me that much.
All in all, I really liked this story and I can recommend it for all the RR readers who want to try something new instead of always reading LitRPG and stuff. It's worth it :)
