- chilkaaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I read some of the reviews here and nearly didn’t read the story. Glad i decided to give it a try. A very interesting idea that is being well written and the plot is developing nicely. Some minor editing needed but all stories need that and is not detracting from my enjoyment of the story. Keep the chapters coming please
- KrimetyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fun read. I look forward to more. Easy to visualize as I'm reading.
- LitRpgLoverRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The first chapters were quite hard to read, because of a "story telling" writing style. But it gets better and better. I have high hopes for the story to get quite interesting. I am can´t wait for the next few chapters
- GaskRoyal Road★★★ 2.5First of all let me say that I enjoyed this story for the most part and think that it could be greatly improved with some reworking.
All of the elements of an immersive and epic story line are present in “Ingame”; there is love, loss, triumph and pain. However all of that is undermined by a serious lack of pacing as the above elements turn to parody as they switch on and off near instantaneously every other chapter or so:
0. Cheat mode activate, standard OP from level one setup.
1. Instant unexplained hostilities with a random fellow level 1 that leads to a vendetta.
2. Instant fortune via OP protagonist skill.
3. Due to #1 and still at level 1 Tor gains the focused attention of the leader of a group of shadowy real world geriatric power players who finds out everything there is to know about Tor from where he lives to who he is over the course of one threat laced conversation.
4. Instant love affair with the buxom immortal tavern owner because.. reasons… and part time dish washing prowess.
5. Become a minor town hero due to said part time dish washing work ethic.
6. The instant take down and murder of a shadowy stalker. This was interesting as it establishes a theme of levels meaning nothing for Tor.
7. Gain the attention of the Gods via Tor’s gnarly tats. Level 10, never left starting city.
8. Easily subdue in one move the fellow mentioned in #3. At level 10.
9. The near instant recovery from blindness and escape from a seemingly hopeless situation with ease.
10. Meet the God of Gods and embark on the hardest quest in the game. He has still never gone anywhere at this point or leveled beyond 10.
All of the above plot points could be interesting if they had been properly paced, unfortunately they seem to come about roughly 1-2 chapters in between one another. So little time is allowed to pass between them that it makes suspending ones disbelief difficult or just outright impossible. My advice would be to go over your work and then establish and flesh out eve - jburge1Royal Road★★★ 2.5Great start, and then fell off a cliff. No story cohesion, no real plot.
- whomightub3Royal Road★ 1.0Gask covered most of my issues with this story.
Did not appreciate smoking being part of the story. It was included in Play to Live as part of a story arc involving in game patents, to gain the MC wealth. It fit into the story well, as the MC was hanging out with ex-military people and the author didn’t want to spend time on the MC having a 9 to 5 job or mob grinding. This is more along the lines of the author having an addiction and then inflicting it onto his MC despite it not fitting at all with personality or his background.
The author never finishes an idea. They come out of the blue, just long enough to have someone fawn over his new ‘wow’, then the whole story involving the ‘wow’ vanishes. Only to be immediately replaced by the new fawnable ‘wow’. - rowzetRoyal Road★ 0.5Too bitter that I feel pity for the MC. Pushed by Powerful individual up a cliff and The only one kind enough was too much a mother Teresa giving task that burden mc, and too stupid enough to even protect the mc from the consequence of her request. Gets killed yet still ask for help on impossible. Ahh the mc kind as you are you always end up thrashed wish for you to get fortunately lucky and sinceauthor made it so bitter make sure you damn finish it. You want cruelty then also introduce solution so fucked up can’t even change tags on this site so we warn others not be fooled
