Imperium Rising (An Empire-Building Progression)

Description
What will you do if you inherit a powerful alien technology?
When rumors of an alien ship spread online, Anton “Tony” Segerstrom thinks it is all a prank…until it appears above his college campus. Tony is selected to inherit the aliens’ Forerunner technology and its homicidal robot guardian. With the power to create almost anything he imagines, Tony becomes the most dangerous man on Earth--Prized. Adulated. Feared. Hated.
The only catch: Pledge allegiance to Earth’s secret benefactors and join them against a more sinister threat beyond the stars. Refuse, and humanity will face the galactic war alone and defenseless.
But the galaxy is a grueling and deadly place, and to stay alive, Tony must inherit a dangerous throne and build a legacy to protect his home and everyone he loves.
Set on modern-day Earth,Imperium Risingis a slow-burn, empire-building, sci-fi adventure. This is not isekai or litRPG.
What to expect: Our MC builds his nation from the ground up, fighting (and managing) other factions/governments from within Earth and across the galaxy and learn to become a powerful sovereign. There's political intrigue, action set-pieces, space exploration, and slice-of-life drama.
Fair Warning: The male MC is gay. I wanted to write a male lead who is queer in a sweeping space opera epic. I notice there aren't a lot of MCs like that, so enjoy!

- BugyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is amazing!
The author clearly puts significant effort into there writing. Everything flows so well, and I can immediatly picture everything that is happening. The pace is perfect, and I feel like I am along for the ride. The premise is well thought out, and there weren't any holes that I found.
The characters are awesome! I especially like the twist he has to the robot the MC speaks to, and how the MC interacts with it as well. The author blends the life altering, and dooming experience they are going through, with lots of comedic releif within the dialogue.
The premise is very cool, and I really like the introduction to the story. A fair amount of details leave the reader in mystery, which makes me want to continue reading even more. The shear amount the author has written is also astounding. The chapters are all fairly long, and he still posts everyday.
There are very few grammatical errors showing that the author clearly edits/proof reads each chapter. I am very impressed with the effort on display.
Overall, I really oved this novel so far and will definitely continue reading. By far one of the best on the platform! - LentseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story already has an amazing start with a great synopsis. I'm very curious as to how it will progress and how the different elements of the story will be put together.
The characters already seem fleshed out and the author appears to have done a great job at researching the background in a meaningful way.
Overall I can't wait to read more and discover what will happen. Great job and a definite must try. - RoboMellonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Build, build, build! I might be biased because I like kingdom-building-focused and first-contact stories, and this just happens to be plastered with Sci-Fi aesthetics. Surprise, surprise, this got a lot of it, packaged in science(y?) nomenclature. The First Contact part is an added bonus, which reminds me of a few Sci-Fi books from the 80s and 90s.
So far, it starts off strong and is easy to follow with a consistent flow. It sticks to its pulpy sci-fi concept really well, including the cliches: A former Marine gets selected to own an alien tech (which is almost like magic?), and an AI Robot forces him to protect Earth by becoming its leader. Then the bad aliens arrive. The book is written in 1st-POV (which is not my thing), but I quite like it on this one.
I have literally nothing but good things to say about the story. The main plot is robust. Worldbuilding is organic and keeps growing. I kind of see where some plot threads are heading, which makes it predictable but still fun. The fights/battles are written well. The backdrop feels fresh and lively, even with several sci-fi tropes and cliches introduced. The lore is fed to us piece by piece, and with how early the story is, there’s plenty of potential.
As for grammar, they’re few and far in between and can easily be fixed. I spotted a couple of mistakes in each chapter, but it’s not detrimental to enjoying the story.
Some of the prominent side characters are fleshed out (most of the side characters are Marines/soldiers). The MC struggles for a bit about his new role but then grows into it. My only very nit-picky complaint about the MC is expanding his personality more. Mostly the characters view their world through a serious lens. Just watch out for the cursing. These characters swear a lot, which is apt if you’ve ever hung around military peeps.
All in all, for a first-time author, it’s a good read. You can tell that the narrative is planned out and put together. If you like kingdom-building stories and Sci-Fi li - ScruffedUpRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Space Opera Empire Building, my favorite genre. The story is entertaining to read, and I have it bookmarked waiting for updates.
-Mild Spoilers-
Style:
The book has the obvious theme of aliens, high tech, and as of the latest chapters apparently scimitar wielding aliens, and I love it. It has a power scaling going into the levels of Goku and DC, and the book has only begun, so I am excited to see how it progresses further. 5/5 Keeps itself to its theme and doesn't go off course.
Story:
The story is entertaining to read, doesn't have any awkward skips or odd jumps that make reading difficult and leaves me waiting for the next update. So far I am enjoying it enough that I have it bookmarked and waiting for the next chapter button to not be grey. 5/5 -Chapters are also decently long, so I feel like I got my wait's worth out of it.
Grammar:
No spelling mistakes or anything, book is well written. 5/5
Character:
The shows just begun, and as such I can't judge all the characters we have but I can judge the few we have had the longest. I can relate to them, I can understand them, and so far I haven't noticed anything that reads off about them, so as of chapter 24 I give it a 5/5.

Overall I enjoy the book, its bookmarked as stated, and I am happy to see someone who has custom Book covers for the different books. The added mile really helps when you are finding a new book as it shows you are invested in the long run.
I hope to see more! - keeganashleyliveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0…Okay, so this one has a super cool cover which made me instantly want to read it but then…it just got better and better. DAMN. This one floored me. I’m not saying it to be cute, and I’m not rating it 5 stars just to rate it 5 stars. It’s EPIC. From the very start, this story pulled me in. It truly reads like a movie---larger than life with chaos looming. I would attribute it to the writing style; it is something that I loved about the story. There’s this current of action and description which sweep you along at, sometimes, a break-neck pace. I am a lover of fast-paced novels, and I so enjoyed the crisp and constant flow of action. The break of sentences into shorter bits and, then, longer descriptions really made things come alive. Pair that with the realistic (and, often, humorous) dialogue and it’s all a match made in Heavan. I was in love, anyway. Can you tell?
The premise was incredibly unique for a storyline that’s been used before. I mean, an alien ship appearing over the earth…sounds cliché, right? WRONG. Because the main character has been chosen as a Forerunner. I don’t want to spoil anything, but prepare to have your socks knocked off. …If you’re still here reading this review…why? Go read the story now instead!!!!! ;P - Wolfgang HuxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Wow, what ride... and this train has barely left the station! We start of with a hint of what's to come in the prologue, then we quickly forget about all that as we follow our MC along for a day-in-the-life of this serviceman and his friends. In an odd way this reminds me of the start of starship troopers, just the comraderie, everyone is joking around before the big strike hits and changes everything. In any case things soon go sideways and our hero and his crew investigate the appearance of mysterious and rather terrifying aliens. Things just keep escalating and getting more exciting from there!
Style: The author does a few things quite well. One is keeping track of the ensemble cast. I can see that we are building towards an interesting array of characters with their own unique relationships and traits. Another is action! This is the through-line that kept me reading on. I am very picky about this as an avid sci-fi reader. You have to do it right. I'm not detail oriented with physics or guns or anything, but PACING is key and the author has it down. So I'm quite excited to see how this plays out as we get deeper into more complex combat scenarios.
Grammar: A few small errors here and there, nothing a close edit won't fix. I didn't find enough errors to detract from my experience as a reader and there were no issues with awkward sentence structure or phrasing. Maybe just going fast.
Character: I like our MC, he's very believable and a good self-insert character for anyone that wants to hop into the saddle and imagine what it might be like to be granted these powers. I don't find him particuraly deep yet, but perhaps that will come later as we spend more time with him. The crew around intrigues me and I'm curious to see more about their relationship dynamics.
Story: Come on now! Best for last! This is where the fic shines. This is an INTERESTING story and a great premise and you can see that we are building to some really cool stuff. This is why I kept reading. I - ZenobiaTayRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I had the pleasure of reading this book and have to say, it's a must-read for any kingdom-building fan. The story has a consistent flow, and the worldbuilding is organic and growing as the story progresses. The book follows the theme of aliens, high tech, and first contact and does it really well.
Style:
The book's power scaling and pacing remind me of classic action anime, which I loved. The story is engaging, and it doesn't go off track from its Sci-Fi concept, which is a plus. The author's writing style is consistent, which makes it an enjoyable read, and the book is well written, with no spelling mistakes.
Story:
The main plot of the book is strong, and the worldbuilding is robust, with plenty of potential for future storylines. The First Contact part of the story is an added bonus, which is reminiscent of classic Sci-Fi books from the '80s and '90s. The book is written in 1st-POV.
Grammar:
The book is well written, and the few grammatical mistakes present are minor and don't take away from the enjoyment of the story.
Character:
The characters are interesting, with some of the side characters being fleshed out, especially the soldiers/marines. The MC's struggle to take on his new role is relatable, and he grows into it as the story progresses.
Overall, the story is remarkable, and the characters are interesting, with dialogue that feels real. The author's attention to detail in researching the background is also evident. I highly recommend this book, and I'm looking forward to reading more. The story has a personal touch despite the intergalactic empire-building promises, and I'm excited to see how it progresses further. - The Last RefugeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Overall, I'm really enjoying the start of this series. I expect plenty of bumps early on, but I'm looking forward to seeing the author polish their craft as we delve into this story. Science fiction isn't my normal meal of choice, but I'm looking forward to getting my feet wet. Here's to what I hope will be a fantastic, long-running story.
