Description

What do you call a mage incapable of casting spells? In this story, we usually call him Terry. When the boy is accepted into Arcana Academy, his talent in the pillars of mana foundation manages to awe everyone. All the bigger is the eventual disappointment when Terry turns out to be an utter failure at spellwork. Diagnosis? Major aspect impairment. No cure. Ever. Faced with expulsion, Terry is blessed with the unexpected kindness of others. He loses his spot in the Academy but in exchange, he finds a home with a caring family. Resigned to explore mana cultivation, Terry never stops looking for his own path as a mage – day after day, season after season, always searching for compatible spellwork. All to finally find the only spell he can cast. The beginning of a journey to discover that even a narrow path of magic can take you to the territory of legends. Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advance Access: I have created a Patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. All chapters will be published on Royal Road eventually. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters– I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commissioned fromredditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry. Overview: 001–030Arc 1, Cultivating Perseverance: complete. 031–060 Arc 2, Undying Defiance: complete. 061–090 Arc 3, Unyielding Fury: complete. 091–120 Arc 4, Savage Hope: complete. 121–150 Arc 5, Self-Made Fate: complete. 151–180 Arc 6, Heretical Style: complete. 181–210 Arc 7, Indomitable Bonds: complete. 211–240 Arc 8, Eternal Grudge: complete. 241–270 Arc 9, Blessed Curse: complete. 271–300 Arc 10, Blasphemous Saint: scheduled for publishing. 301–330 Arc 11, Awoken Will: first draft in progress. 331–360 Arc 12, War Breaker: sketching in progress. Further arcs are still in the sketching and idea collection phase. P.S. Hey amazon staff. Yes, I've been contacting you about infringement because someone released my story on amazon without my permission. I have not authorized publishing of the Immovable Mage on Amazon, or on any other place besides Royal Road and my own Patreon.

I never write reviews, but this is a truly great story. The characters are very human in there actions and grow well with the story. The magic system is interesting, and the power scaling is well done without tables of numbers. The interactions with the MC keep the story interesting.
The worst thing about the story is the MC's name. Who names their MC Terry?

It's usual in this site that the books lose steam as they pick up pages. A lot of them, most, start strong with great ideas, high concepts and exquisite world building only to fall flat after a time, like an unattended beer. Not this book. This book picks up intensity as it goes forward, with a plot that thickens as the story progresses.I'm also out of words for the character design, the solid and cohesive magic system -without blue screens!- and the delightful dialogues and freshness. The world feels alive. Sick, wounded, festering with health issues -fucking Wastes, man- but alive. My only meh is the use of onomatopoeia in the dialogue, but to each his own, not my cup of tea.In conclusion, one of the best currently here.Ps: fuck the Bright Lady and fuck that willow witch.

I don’t usually leave reviews but I wanted to support. Overall I’d say this is a 5/5 as it can be a little slow at times but it is worth it for a really unique and interesting story and characters. Since this is multiple arcs I’m going to list them to give people a a general understanding of how good each arc is.prologue : technically not an arc but I felt it worth including. It is fairly tedious and hard to get through but I don’t recommend skipping it as it holds key characterization. If youreallydon’t want to read it then at least skim it. 2/5Arc 1: Decent start as it introduces you to most of the major characters and why Terry is the way he is later on. A bit slow still very enjoyable. It’s almost like part 1 of jojo in that it’s not bad it’s just kinda bland. 3.5/5Arc 2: This is where the fun begins. Terry, away from home and in the wild, really gets to develop outside his comfort zone. We get to see what life is like in the real world and how Tiv likes to do things. Praise the Devonian lord. Great Arc 5/5Arc 3: Mini training arc that develops into an insight into Terry’s beliefs while introducing a major antagonist to the world. 5/5Arc 4: We learn a bit more about the heroes of old and how enduring Terry can be against the world. The Arcanian starts running. 5/5Arc 5: a bit of dragon slaying for breakfast followed by a prison arc. Terry vs the Coliseum. Terry vs his morals. Terry vs his naiveté. Terry vs his honesty. Truly a Whetstone for Terry in many ways. 4.5/5Arc 6: Terry is now in a xianxia novel and hates it. Too bad he won’t leave. Terry learns not only to fight but to lead (even with knuckleheads getting on his nerves). Terry defies the heavens like a good little xianxia protagonist. A little slow in the beginning but very satisfying at the end. 5/5Arc 7: Terry is tired and wants to go home. Instead he becomes a brothel worker. When faced with overwhelming odds again he’d rather slowly poison himself than break his morals. Also an insight into Terry’s

So firstly, I would recommend this to anyone who've read xianxia before and flund them wanting, as this is a really nice western fantasy. Terry is a good protagonist, with his own flaws that we see evolve in this book. Beware of the author, he'll take your feeling and make you follow this adventure with rapturous attention.

At first, I only read this to give other series to have a backlog so I could then greedily binge them. However, I am thoroughly enjoying this and like that Terry is fighting and learning g in his own way. He is learning but not so overpowering that he cannot face actual challenges.

So good! This is my favorite novel. I like the power system, the story, characters, everything. It is amazing how good this is. I also like how the main character has been getting stronger, but so has the drawbacks etc for using the power for this long this recklessly. Keep it up, i wanna see how the immovable mage becomes a legend!

I remember seeing this being recommended like 3 years ago and ignoring it and that was probably one pf my best decisions because I found this like 2 months ago and I had so much to read it was amazing. I can't think of anything else to say other than calling it peak, it started of slow and I thought it would just be a book about like learning how to fight mages or something and a slow power fantasy about getting back at the tower or something silly but my expectations were subverted in like the best way possible that I can't even begin to explain without major spoilers but this book is amazing, the characters actually feel like people and the aunt is probably one of my favourite characters in fiction in like the last 5 years. If your going to read this just please trust the process, I didn't think I would enjoy the book at first, but once it gets rolling I dont think the ball was ever dropped, at least not for me, it just kept getting better and better.

Terry is the geek in class that wanted to be a sports star but just didn't have the talent in his chosen sport.
But instead of physical sports its magic. This is very much a tale of magical talent but that talent not being in the socially appreciated areas.
Early In the story he fails out due to his phisical limitations. But a new adoptive family appears and helps him find his starting point. Then.... Well that would be telling.
The adventures are great the characters are well thought out and written. The plots and intrigue excellent.... Terry isn't really that type though.
Yes this story is definitely worth reading.
A hard working kid who works on becoming more useful to his friends and family.

I hope the author get a lot of money so the story can continue till the end. I want to see the end of anand. I want to see the return of valkerie. I want to see terry standing side by side with the sovereigns. I want to see the growth of his half sister. I want to see the closure of what happened with veil bender and his companion

It's a wonderful book that does everything so well to its character depths so well done to even making the MC powerful but never too OP.
The MC is always feels like he is the MC and isn't overshadowed especially when you read about his potential that he doesn't waste and is grind for power that is very much respected!!
The Characters always have such depth to them and great background stories done that make you love and care for the Main side cast and other important character without detracting from the MC.
The Grammar is impeccable and there is little to even basically no mistakes in Grammar or even spelling and the story is very well thoughout and shows the hours of work that must of been put into this masterpiece that is this story!
The style feels so unique and fresh compared to many stores especially with the powersystems feeling well done and original in there own ways and how the powersystems can show how simpler many ideas are but just a little bit of uniqueness here and there can make a story so great!
Overall, the Story is amazing and I hope everyone reads it, immediately and everyone make the story get so big that it's everywhere!!
100/100. Doesn't begin to describe how great this book is and how you should just start reading it already!
