- varkolakRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a top grade cultivation novel. Good character depth, slightly unique power system, and a pretty well flushed out world. The story progresses at a very reasonable pace and I've yet to see an info dump or an idiotic young master. I have no complaints at all, even the "tournament arc" was nicely cut down to the bare minimum instead of dragging out like they so often are. If you're a fan of cultivation novels give it a shot.
- ElorieRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Most of the cultivation-type fanfics are a rehash of the old thing, a self-insert or an attempted (and rarely successful) parody, which stumble upon the usual pitfalls.
This one's rather fresh and triple-faced, showing something that seems a lot closer to what the actual-real life in a cultivation world would be, with endless backstabbing, deception and fallbacks.
Well done! - NiccoloMicolloRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An excellent xianxia with great characters and also quite funny. MC is cunning but has a good heart still (which is refreshing). Supporting characters are well drawn and in many cases very likeable. There is a scene which is non-sexual but which has attracted some attention. Personally I would have toned it down a bit to avoid all doubt but I found it innocent and in keeping with the story.
- Rayne of fireRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0You like I shall seal the heavens? This is for you.
Its got just about all the same things that make a good cultivator story. An interesting main character with thoughts and pressures to keep things moving. Deep side characters that have actual stories to them within the narrative.
Things happen for a reason, yes the magic tool he finds as a child gives him a hand, but its a side note, not a major plot point. Its the fact it doesn't exist to make the story or character work alone that earns this story an edge.
Many times a system or place becomes a character of its own. Here its just another mysterious thing in a world of chaos and magic, a tool and no more.
No the MC and even potential love interests carry the way and the schemes and plans of everyone, all happening at the same time, give life to a rich world of wonders and dangers combined. - The KnowledgerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The novel is nice. The update frequency is also good. Similarly the character development is also proper and MC got an interesting goldfinger. No significant grammatical mistakes so far. Story pacing is also good. This novel got potential. The quality is also acceptable. Though, the author is improving it with time. I really hope he continues the story and increase the quality of the story. I really hate it when nice novels are dropped.
- feetareevilRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0style,it feels good to read ,better than the normal xianxia stuff. i can stop reading to do other stuff, so i cant give it a perfect score, but very good.
story: xianxia with cheat. but the cheat is not a direct combat cheat and to make full use of it the mc has to learn crafting, which he does. i really like it, especially cause:
the character, the mc is kind without being a pacifist.smart without being always right. most xianxia are repititive or have evil mcs. this doesnt until this point. so very good.however he doesnt have any permanent companions so no perfect score here.
grammar: found no mistakes, but im not looking for them so take this with a grain of salt.
overall, im paying to read more of this story, what do you think how much i like this? but honestly its really good. im on a xianxia binge, but i pretty much quit most of them in disgust. only two could get me to keep reading. this is the third. its still early but i have a good feeling about this. if you think i gave a too high score? i read what goes for top tier here and half of it is noticably worse than this. its not perfect but its really good and i would recommend it to other xianxia fans. - AzureDaoistRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Decent xianxia, nothing new and borrowed plots from other novels. While not new it's still pretty good. Decent amount of chapters and easy to read. Mc is decent, not the most interesting character but fun enough to follow on the road to immortality. Rating: 7.7
Recommended for people who just enjoy a fun xianxia - AlbyihatRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0So the beginning part of this seems to be a rewrite of A Record of a Mortals Journey to Immortality or draws really heavily from that book. MC finds an item able to enhance herbs, joins sect of martial artists, sect master tries to kill MC, sect is attacked by gangs using military grade bows.
with that said it’s pretty good as a fanfic rewrite. - luda305Royal Road★★★★ 3.5After three times, I've realized that this really isn't a cultivation novel.
Part of it is that the set-up is such that it's apparently really easy to just steal from other cultivators, rather than to work hard yourself. Of the three major antagonists so far, all of them have some sort of demonic cultivation that refines other cultivators into resources.
The sect master was refining exemplary students into resources to advance his own cultivation, the fleamarket girl refined another cultivator into a backup body for herself, and the miner boys refined other cultivators into corpse spatial bags so they can get away with theft from the sect.
Honestly, the rate of just straight up cold-blooded murder between characters is ridiculously high. And that's not even counting the most recent twist where apparently.
several hundred cultivators have been thrown into a murder free for all battle royale.
Really, most of the plot if the protagonist figuring out how to overcome these antagonists, rather than any cultivation proper, which tends to be glossed over.
You'd also think that the cheat jar would be a more prominent use, but it's relegated quite a bit. Moreover, again it tends to downplay the hard work that should theoretically go into cultivation. - CookiEmperor_69Royal Road★★ 2.0Too many similarities with Han Li from A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality (and I mean copypasted-ideas level of similarities).
A very sudden shift from a serious tone to a humorous one.
The romance between the protagonist and the female lead is... no comment.
A lolita complex?
Otherwise not the worst way to waste some time.
