- DoseiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really loving this story.
There aren't a lot of stories with the "open doorway back to the real world" that pull it off well, but Wander has managed to really pull it off with I Will Not Be Isekai'd.
Another thing I want to point out is how amazing all his stat-screens, character art, and fun details look, with elements like his 'Afterchapter Chatroom' being such a creative and entertaining way to continue building on the characters. They're very similar to the end-of-chapter doodles in the back of a manga, at least to me.
Do yourself a favour and read this story. - glizdawiecRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I'm a bit on the fence on this one.
Story is good. Idea is new, interesting and with a huge potential. Characters aren't two-dimensional. Japanese main character surprised me a bit, I wasn't expecting to learn any new Japanese words or learn about their culture while reading this fiction, but it's not a bad thing. There aren't many grammatical errors.
The problem is that author just doesn't seem to have a lot of experience with writing fiction yet. His writing style can be really awkward at times; it isn't always clear to me what author meant and that can make reading a bit tedious. His pacing can be wonky and weird as well, with uncalled for time skips that can make things even more confusing.
This novel isn't bad, but when compared with some excellent books here that are on almost professional level... well I'm not sure if I want to spend my time on this one. Sorry. - AzoulasRoyal Road★★★ 2.5The story feels like it majorly lacks explanations or any sort of world building up to where I read.
Minor spoilers:
Why is he ok with staying in this new world?
Why was there a random 2 month time skip almost the instant he got to a town and why was nothing he did explained? How did he survive there since he pretty much instantly got saved and escorted there while having no power himself or understanding of the world? How did he support himself for these 2 months? Did he learn anything new during this 2 month time skip? did he learn what his 1 skill does or did he not ask about how to use skills for the 2 month skip that happened? (I feel like at least a brief explanation of what transpired in those 2 months would have been very beneficial for the readers)
Does his mother not notice he's been gone for 2 months or does she just not care at all and him not care about going back home for so long with no contact since he pretty much just disappeared?
Why does no one in that world seem to care that he's from a different world? (since he came out and admitted it like it's normal)
I could bring up more but I don't want to make this a huge wall of text.
It feels like maybe the author doesn't see all of this lack of information as an issue because they themselves already know the answers but as a reader the way it's done just makes for a frustrating read. - bsmnRoyal Road★ 0.5Its not for me i think a world where you open menus that everyone can see that you have to navagate to use abilities is stupid i feel for the people in that world. It makes it hard and clunky to read and how is it not filled with people just walking behind officials with a powerful dagger and slitting there throats... for me the concept just doeant make sense.
