- Void PacifistRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is very fun and a new type of story telling for me.
I have never read a story where the readers can affect the characters.
I hope the other readers don't go evil and just start throwing bullshit at the MC and trying to kill him on like Day 10 or 15. - BookwyrmGenxenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Seriously though, I have only just started to read this book, but I really like it so far. Also, he needs those levels to save his friends and his puppy. I really like how we the readers are able to interact with and influence the path of the story. Thanks to the author!
- mneueRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Found this on a whim, and what an afternoon adventure this becomes...
For those who might be seeing the blurb and thinking, "Okay, but what is it really about?" It is exactly as stated. MC gets thrust into an Isekai, and things will go terribly unless you - the person reading this right now - do something to interact with him. Might be a boon, might be a bust. No one knows until the votes are passed and the author writes the next chapter.
Frankly, this is one of the rare moments where we get to see a site like RR functioning at full strength. Because the actual direction of the story is so responsive to reader input and the mechanics are clearly outlined, this is a truly unique experience. At a bare minimum, put this on your follow list and see how the MC adapts for a week. There is nothing to lose but time spent in an engaging read.
Onto the review itself...
Style Score (5/5): This is definitely a lighter read that does not require a huge amount of thinking. It flows well from scene to scene, and it does not get too bogged down by exposition or heavy prose. The action is fun and engaging, and I was surprised by how quickly I got to the end of the first week.
Story Score (5/5): It is still very early in terms of story development, with the MC still getting his sea legs in a chaotic world, but there's been a few nods that imply a wider and larger conflict. Some might get turned off by the references to the meta throughout, but I personally find this is to be part of the charm. How readers engage in the real world is very much part of the story, and you can already see how this has played out in a bunch of different ways so far.
Grammar Score (5/5): Easiest one to dish out. No mistakes. At least that I can see. Which, given the amount of words written in such a short time is... Beyond impressive.
Character Score (5/5): MC seems like a somewhat generic protagonist on his face, but the added twist of the meta game is where this really takes off. Like that moment in The - LeuniRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an absolute banger so far we got our best friend and love interest the story is very creative the system is cool and the story has little to no flaws and as far as u can't tell no great mistakes the caracthers feel real and its fun to have some influence over the plot 5/5 can't wait for the next chapter
- amazingreader101Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Screw whatever story happens and get this man to level 90 and free his puppy!!! Thats the real objective of this novel!!!
Also the actual book is nice the story seems interesting with a charasmatic? mc (i personally think he's charming) and i love the villain? gamemaker? person because of how fun and chaotic she seems, i hope we get to see her appear more often to just mess with the mc
I like and somewhat dislike how much power the readers have on this story as the readers will either make this so hard on the mc the story ends in 2 more chapters (since there wont be any plot armor) or he just keeps getting saved by the readers - ToutomoutochanRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I enjoyed this story. I thought the meta idea of "likes" actually coming from readers was really cool and kind of ambitious. Apparently it was *too* ambitious, since the author had to discontinue the whole thing. Still, in its really short life, it was enjoyable. I'll miss it.
.. .. .. .. - malinizgeldiRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0As a reader who has started to read chapter 10, I cannot keep up with the author's updating the novel within chapters.
This genre, which is reader-oriented, has been tried recently, but has not been caught. This is not possible by trial and error method.
Still, I think this was the best attempt, but it didn't seem like it was successful. at least for me. He couldn't pull me in. - AmeritusRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Pretty interesting and unique concept that is reasonably well executed. Something between a chose your own adventure book and twitch chat plays pokemon. I look forward to seeing where the story goes and how the author might handle different situations that could arise. Experiments like this have a history of going off the rails after all.
- DustespejoRoyal Road★★★ 2.5The novel is about a dude in a gameshow one in whitch you calificacion of the novel o "like" decide the power of the MC and the only reason i made this review , overall is interesting but i don like the MC because is constanly in a state of panic and although it makes senses it is annoying to read
- TigerCannonRoyal Road★★ 2.0The premise is kind of interesting, and the writing isn't bad.
Unfortunately that's basically all I have to say in its favor.
So far it's more or less 30% tropey eldritch horror, 20% lolrandom humor, and 50% interaction begging.
It's a somewhat interesting concept, but so far there really hasn't been much done with it. The main character is bog standard isekai mc so far, and hasn't done much specifically due to the meta narrative.
Like half of each chapter is some combination of "Man I really need level ups", "Oh no if I don't level up the puppy will die!", "Oh wow this crazy random thing happened because likes", and "Thank you for liking and subscribing so I can level up more". It really feels like the story is taking a backseat to those aspects. And it feels... sleazy. Like a mobile game sending "XXX Kingdom needs your help! Log in now!" notifications, or a reddit post saying "This cat is sad, upvote if you want to cheer them up!"
Dunno, maybe that appeals to you. It's not terrible, but the negatives outweigh the positives pretty heavily in my eyes.
