- engionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This honestly was exactly what I was looking forward to. Battle Royal where different factions have different motives. It is not your typical kill everyone gains power motif. The main character also does not have some broken skills. Reading a person's mind might be good in some situations but when a flaming is coming your way it's useless.
Hoping to see more of the universe about the previous demon kings and why they are never strong enough to stand up to the true enemy, the seraph. Also if the unbalanced realm leads to utter destruction why would the angels want to tip that balance? Also why does the current demon lord still not a good candidate? In order to make it that far would require more than just might. Thus is something or someone else allowing the demon king to be dispatched.
Like the turf collection as well as the system not bending over for the player or instant wins. Even the unique powers that developed for individual people. Honestly, the only problem I have is the lack of chapters. Keep writing author I may have to pay for Patreon. - Alec_FRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly, I started reading it on a whim, because of the insane setting, not expecting much. The story, however, turned out to be anything but average. Characters that are, well, real characters and not amorphous blobs of unending internal monologues, drama, plot twists, epic battles. It's quirky, yes, the setting is still insane, the characters ain't no orthodox heroes, but damn, is this thing ever amusing for me.
I'm very happy that I stumbled upon it and gave it a try. - Alex MRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am the GOAT balances excitement, exploration, and hilarious escapades. Jake must learn to both take care of his people, while advancing in power enough to survive this new hell he’s been reborn into.
With the Jake being a goat, it goes without saying that this isn’t your typical LitRPG. For one thing, he eats a lot of trash. The system is simple yet fun, leading to a cool skill set and evolution path. It starts with action, and the pace doesn’t slow down. At Chapter 12, we’re starting to get a few more clues about the overarching plot—a battle between demons and angels.
The writing is excellent. Marc clearly has a ton of experience in writing, and it infuses the story with a charm and undeniable sense of humour. The banter between characters is great, especially as you start reaching the most recent chapters and the cast expands more.
One of the standout features of this story is the distinctive and strong personalities of its characters. Marc does a great job of moving away from cliches and bringing them to life, making them feel like real (albeit very strange) people.
Overall, I’m enjoying this one a lot and am looking forward to where it goes next. - AustimizedRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Looking for a LitRPG that jumps straight into the action? Universal premise: a conflict between Heaven (Bliss) and Hell occupies the metaverse. A cataclysm is brewing that might end it all. And Hell needs a new boss. Enter Jake the Ripper after he rips off one-to-many, way-to-powerful criminals and gets curb stomped down to Hell.
Hell, as you may imagine, is not a pleasant place, but you may not have realized it is a cross between Animal Farm, a Marilyn Manson concert, and The Other Side in Stranger Things. Demons are legion (~2.3M to be more exact), take the form of animals, and occupy their time eating garbage, toying with half-brain-dead minions, and brutalizing each other for power; probably not too different from how corporate CEOs see their lives.
Beyond the rapid power explosion uncaged by rigid XP systems, the supporting cast do more than just provide window dressing, contrast to the MC's power, or banter. Jake's ever-growing cadre contains varied, entertaining, interesting, and actually useful minions that punch the entertainment factor higher than you might expect.
17 chapters flew by and left me clicking the grayed-out "next chapter" button a few extra times just in case.
Words here done; scroll to GOAT Chapter 1 to find more! - CharmpagneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a romp in Playland. I love it. Totally irreverent, this tale is just what I need when I'm in an I don't care mood. I can read quickly and easily with satisfaction in each little step.
I jumped into this story with my eyebrows raised expecting to be appalled and I was but in a good way. The main character isn't a good or particularly nice guy but in an "it isn't my fault" kinda way that hides that good guy in wolf's clothing. He wants to help people but doesn't take crap if the betray him. He has more luck than brains at first but you end up routing for the punk.
The story does have an overall arc that looks like it'll get there someday but you really don't care if that day is today, tomorrow, or next year because the route in so engaging. I think maybe you want it to be a ways away because if we get to the end, it'll be over... and that would be sad.
And the author is very fast at putting out chapters. I was right there as the first chapters came out but then I feel behind but that's only a bad thing because my hubby is farther ahead than I am.
Thanks for the romp through held hell's playground. I just love the world as it opens up. - Coldfang89Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Digging the story so far. I'm up to chapter 12, so not too far in, but I've been finding it extremely enjoyable. I'm looking forward to reading more when I have the chance.
The story shows strong logic, and the dark humor is top notch. I'm sure a lot of folks will enjoy the humor aspects. - Fijasrules94Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Jake is interesting, while Bob is a bitch. The mind reading is a bit to wrap your mind around but a cool ass hell skill. Seems a little odd for him claim a territory then immediately leave it in the care of his random army of halfwits. The way the halfwits are added seems interesting but a bit confusing as they're added to his servitude without him being there. Most just not sure how big his army is going to get and what the hell they do when he's gone.
Enjoying it so far just need MOAR :) - Geomancer17Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0At first, I avoided this story. It sounded, frankly, really, really dumb. I mean, reincarnating as a demon goat? That sounded like LOLRandom humor. Eventually, though, I decided to give it a try and I'm glad that I did.
Because while the setting is a little strange, the story shows strong, consistent, internal logic. Thrae is like a demented farm in the darkest of ways, where the animals are the unfeeling overlords that use the farmers, creatures that are intelligent but in extremely limited ways. There are humans that are like dogs, useful and trainable, and then there are chickens, which you just keep in a cage and use them. There's a dark humor that makes the entire setting much more appealing.
So, again, I'm glad I gave this story a try and I think you should as well. - Jack0fheartRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In 'I am the GOAT,' Jake the Ripper, a cunning swindler, finds himself reincarnated as a fiery, bat-winged, demon-horned goat after his death. Pretty good, the mc has a bit grey moral but is relatively good compare to others. I dropped it because it seems like it was going to have some kindom building stuff, which I want none of. Otherwise everything is good.
