- LiarbytradeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I really like the new-age noir tone you seem to be going for. Derek's got that kind of coarse wit, which really suits the genre, and a lot of the minor characters seem well fleshed out, despite their limited screen time. My only problem was I thought it could use a bit more polish. Some of the punctuation wasn't as tight as it could have been, and a few of your word choices could have been punchier.
For example, take this line: "I dropped some cash on the table for the drinks and headed inside to the small gift counter they had just for tourists." You probably should have used 'small gift shop,' instead - especially, since it'd let you avoid reusing the word in the next line.
Other than small issues like that, though, I thought it was pretty good. It's definitely a work to keep an eye on. Great job and good luck!
