Description

This is in fact two stories set on opposite sides of a river in the SCS 'verse. On one side, a nameless old man sitting vigil for his dying wife gets caught in an Antithesis Incursion and takes the opportunity to put decades of studying the Anarchist's Cookbook to good use. On the other side, a young woman out for a jog on a sunny day winds up defeating a Model Four in the least likely way possible. Perhaps my favourite fanguard (fan-vanguard?) of the lot, this pair get both the genuinely non human down far better than anything else and delve into the parts of a cyberpunk or corpopunk setting most writers miss.
The intercutting between two different vanguard in the same area gives a clearer picture of the state Philly is in then you would usually get, and I'm pretty sure Gritty would approve of both protags.
    I'm hooked.

Both the main characters in this are fleshed out and interesting.
Havoc is doing good work taking apart the antis piece by piece. I can't wait till they get out of the rubble and have a cross over with Soggath (another nanite swarm).
The cafeteria queen meanwhile is less trying to kill the antis and more trying to uplift and protect her community. Both interesting takes on being a vanguard

Something for everyone and Something not for everyone. What i love is the wide range of topics covered from happiness to despair back to hijnks. I can see some chapters being extremely decisive but thats what makes it a fun read, nothing can be perfectly suited to you. 100% Mimic.fm approved. Just a handful of chapters in and cannot wait to get caught up. Will the Mimic.fm fan fiction infect this too? Maybe but its safe for "now". Teehee.

I don't normally write reviews, but this fiction is so good that it drove me to it.
There is some real pathos here. The first chapter reminds me of the first 10 minutes of Up! A whole lifetime of love and marriage in a chapter. It gets better from there.
For the second character, a am reminded of the Mr. Rogers quote to "look for the helpers". This is a woman who had not lived a life of privilege and will never be a "super" hero, while being a hero none-the-less.
I wish the author had the spoons to write more or write more frequently, but I'll take what I can get and enjoy it while I can.

Well now! Stumbled across this Gem in a very sideways fashion as a shout out. Both Storylines are VERY visceral and emotionally connecting for Mature Adults. The Theme of ALL kids are our kids is very very bracing. Children first should always be our rational for doing anything.
The Author has hit the back story and motivation note just right. I expect the collision of these to lines to be rewarding.

I usually wait for a lot more content before leaving a review, but the quality is just so good that I can't not recommend it, even with the currently limited word count.
The characters are definitely BAMFs, the writing is spot on and the author manages to instill way more feelings in them than most of what I've read so far. And despite not being the original author of the setting, the questions asked and answers already go further than the original story !
Amazing work, highly recommend it !

    Nice beginning, im hooked.
This is just a placeholder review for later cause im writing this while there is only on chapter. I will probably update it when i have red more.
It already gives good vibes so im optimistic.
Question for the author: Is it a new book or an old one that you decided to puplish again? Cause it feels new.
    Enough words? Nice
