I like this story quite a bit. I managed to briefly follow it in its previous incarnation, appropriately enough given the premise, and enjoy IF's worldbuilding a great deal. This rewrite has added to my enjoyment through a smoothing and ligation of the story-elements that were previously not entirely disjoint, but built as much for the active participants as for later catching-up readers. I'm excited to see where the story goes, as it eventually passes its precedent's final resting place, and to find out what new details IF will add as we first travel through once-traveled territory.

Hallusaga is a novelization and--in many ways--a complete rewrite of a serialized story I've long enjoyed but though that it wouldn't reach a satisfying end.  And here we are, all the plans materializing into something that bears the marks of a story I loved to read, refined by years of practice on I.F. Ister's part and a coherent plan from the beginning.
It's the story of Halla Steinarsdottir, a precocious young woman in a setting where Culture is Cultivation, stuck dealing with the problems of being a bloodthirsty tomboy in a setting with strictly defined gender roles and extreme consequences involved if anyone opens their damned mouth and says something nasty, with all of the old Sagas being treated as factual truth and blood feuds can be started because someone got drunk one night and puked on your shoes, leading to hundreds of deaths and nothing being learned in the end.
And it's made all the worse by the fact that each and every single human being born under the watch of the Nornir are superhuman, without necessarily having the wisdom to use their incredible might and quickness of thought well.
Genuinely one of my favorite original settings, and Halla's own journey from a contrarian tomboy to...  The place she's going to--remains a compelling tale, especially as she steadily leaves the boundaries of 'Common Sense' by the standards of her society and begins a journey into the deeper mysteries of the Written World.
Highly recommended to anyone to give it a shot.

Hallusaga is a Story that's based off the Norse Quest on SV. The concept of a cultivation world that has various cultures that all have different cultivation styles is very fascinating. Seeing the Norse Culture, people, beliefs and cultivation is very interesting compelling part of the story. Halla's journey in carving out her place in such a world is going to be a very fascinating journey to watch.

The Author is a deft hand at worldbuilding and immersion. If you are fond of Norse Mythology, Vikings OR Xianxia, you will love his work, and the blend that the author has concocted is heady indeed and the amount of effort that went into the setting easily shines through.
    I heartily recommend it.
Halla is a striking protagonist, as befits her mighty lineage, but she is opposed by foes that are many, resourceful and deadly. She (as well as you, dear reader) is in for quite a journey.

So to get this out of the way the grammar of the story is great but if you have problems with historical or non English words or phrases you may have issues with this story because it reads similar to Sanderson or Tolkien in that it uses a lot of Nordic language. If you are good with that it is a point in its favor as it helps create and build up the world of the story.
Following on the previous point the character are well fleshed out and made to be people that are do things and exist outside of the main characters view, case in point being her elder siblings ( I shall say no more cause spoilers)
Story is excellent go at a bit of a slow burn right now but plenty of hints at a large overarching story
Style is really unique with a xianxia take on Norse mythology that works way better than you would think on first take
Over all this is and excellent start to a story and it seems that the author has a solid plan of where they want to take it and I look forward to how they continue to develop it especially with how it relates to Norse mythology power seeing as I don't think any other stories have done it as such a straight depiction

I haven't read the original, but this story is off to an incredibly strong start. Everything about this story is just cool, and I can't wait to see where it goes with the magic and mythology. The main character in particular is fun, and really complex for a xianxia story only a couple of chapters in that really feels action centered.

There are no words that can describe the depths of the metaphysics in this story, its a captivating and awesome journey from beginning to end and any fan of adventure or fantasy will find themselves entirely satisfied by this novel. Halla is an interesting and heartwarming character and her allies and enemies are all unique and varied, the author has created a beautiful world.

Hallusaga is a very different take on the Xianxia and Norse genres! As a result, the world feels a lot more real. None of this 'eat this pill and jump to spirit severing level also all the previous world can now be ignored forever' nonsense. Society actually matters in this setting, and the PC cannot simply acquire all possible ways of gaining and using power. Other people will matter.
