If you're into grand-scale fantasy warfare with a complex, well thought out political landscape to go along with it, and a pinch of mystery through a slowly unfolding greater plot, Hallowed Sabres is just the story for you.
At its core, Hallowed Sabres is about a big ol' war between two fantasy nations. And the author isn't afraid of throwing you right into things with little preparation, letting you discover the great host of characters bit by bit, while you follow them on their individual missions.
At first, I was a little confused with the many new terms, characters snd situations, but as I kept on reading, a larger puzzle started to reveal itself, and with a bit of effort on the side of my brain, I'm slowly figuring out how the characters are connected to eachother and to the overarching plot.
What's that mysterious weapon the warring factions are so desperately searching for? Who's the mysterious old guy beating up youngsters on a literal battlefield? And how do the characters from the prolog figure into all of it?
While the lack of information, of seeing the greater picture immediately can be frustrating at times, I kind of like the process of slowly figuring things out. And in the mean time, there's a good balance between varied characters and bombastic action scenes to draw you in and keep you interested.
I can only recommend giving this a read.
