Lacks context and background descriptions. The set up for events lacks backstop.
The story justs needs a slower pace.
For example
knowing is found to be the main characters mother. However it was never mentioned that her mother was supposed to be dead, so the reveal is meaningless to the reader. Other reveals like Ilyan being alive, or her brother having known about Raye feel out of place. There is no clear description of how she got to a foreign country, or that there was a academy for demon hunters.
