Short Synopsis           Green Unpleasant Land

Fog shrouded Victorian London, but not the 1888 we’d recognise. There’s a whiff of revolution in the air, not to mention lycanthropy in the shires. As Mr Eiffel’s tower nears completion in Hyde Park, famed Egyptologist Sir Percy Tiverton returns with his latest find — a nameless book so mysterious not even the Royal College of Alchemists can decipher its runes.

Alexander Faversham is England’s foremost champion of derring-do, but his legend is built on sand. Loyal-to-a-fault manservant Bill might know more about his master’s heroics than either are letting on. When the nameless book is stolen, Bill’s entanglement threatens to bring his carefully constructed façade crashing down.

There’s something nasty lurking in the shadows and it wants its book back. Who would dare confront the tentacles slithering from the sewers? When the Empire needs a hero, it doesn’t always get the one it expects.

    Really enjoyed reading this. Great characters and some very interesting world building. The action was well done, prose was very smooth.
    on top of this it was also very funny 😄 No small task.
    I genuinely have no idea where the plot is heading. I'm getting strong Flasman vibes, plus a hint of Jeeves and Bertie Wooster. The alt Victorian setting is a nice twist.
    Is magic a feature of this world? Would be great to see that developed.
    The duel scene was my favourite, loved seeing how that played out. Hope we get to see the Comt again, as he had some entertaining lines.
    The narrators voice (Bill) was witty and  cynical. How on earth did a guy like him end up in the service of Alex? I hope this gets explained and expanded later in the book.
    The mystery young lady is another very interesting character. I'm assuming she's not from this world. Hope we find out a lot more about her background and backstory as the work develops.
    I have high hopes for this story going forward, and will look out for other posts from this author.
