Description

Edward Hill was an old man, content with his lot in life as a godfather, preparing his retirement when an unexpected ambush ruined his plans…

Stepping through a portal of light was dangerous and foolhardy; stealing the destiny of a young man was tasteless; but when the choice was between that and death, he was more willing to take that deal.

Now, stranded in a new world, alone with no support, surrounded by people with treating him like a commodity, he must choose.

Toe the line…

Or, once again, create his own path…

And then, there was this mysterious system, calling him a hero… What a ridiculous idea.

Thoroughly enjoyable read of an intelligent anti-hero who stole the isekai portal of a hero to save his own life.
Quickly draws you in with consistent character development of the main actors, enough details to paint the scene without burdening the reader with excessively elaborate prose.
World building is done well and consistently, and the author tends not to throw out useless information, it all has a purpose.
    Well done, and thank you.

He's not a hero, not truly. He rarely does anything selflessly, and will not hesitate to kill for his own benefit if he decides its worth it.
But he's got standards. Killing innocent people for no good reason? Well that's half of what he spent his days as a Godfather destroying. He is, something I consider rare, an actual proper anti-hero.
He is a no-nonsense, result focused person. Your a female amputee in a pseudomedieval setting? Your not an invalid, get to bloody work. Put your back into it.
He's not a typical hero, but I find myself respecting him anyway.
Some minor grammar mistakes and misplaced words, but never enough to take me out for more than a short moment. Well worth the read.

This novel is fantastic. It’s an isekai + litrpg + faction building.
The main difference between it and other of its kind is the power play. I have never read such a good power play in any isekai, it captures really well the different elements that make a powerful faction such as politics, armies and production by it doesn’t stop there, it equally considered op characters. Usually, when the Mac is op, the antagonist is just throwing stone at a wall and it looks ridiculous. There some adapt, react and change base on fact.
I says some because of a second thing done right : the political check board. Not every character is a pawn nor is every pieces a king. Some are clearly less capable, some are intelligent, some have authority other are agent… It’s a complete cast of character all we’ll fleshed as if coming from an historical book. Antagonists aren’t just wind mills and friends aren’t perfect all mighty figures nor are they dead weigh.
And still the stories keep all the good points of isekai, weak to strong, litepg genders. Their isn’t any visible flaw to this novel.
I conclusion, it’s a well balanced world building. RECOMMENDED

Love the story and how the author handles things he doesn’t fully understand by letting them happen off screen in a way that still works for the story. This also means there is a lot happening and the author is focused on progressing the story and not losing focus. Sadly on hiatus.

I am very new to this genre and just stumbled upon the story yet I cannot help but admire the quality and attention to detail of this story. It is very evident that the author has a well-prepared and comprehensive project plan for the storyline, every aspect fits into place very well. What is left for us is to simply sit and enjoy.

The story so far is well-written, building up tension and providing background information about the protagonist even from the first chapter, without slowing down the pace of the action.
The reason I really like this story is the background of the main character,  (A godfather), I definetely see potential for an interesting story here, as long as it's handled well and the characters are written in a multi-dimensional manner, that will allow us to expore power dynamics, ethics, perhaps the rise or reform of organized crime in this new world.

Really enjoyed the novel, even though it can improve, mainly grammatically.
The main cast is reasonably fleshed out.
Sometimes I feel like the author doesn't provide enough information, but you can still understand the happenings.
Sadly it seems the author dropped this novel, but I would still give it a read if I were you.

It starts really slowly. Several times I almost quit the story. But the plot slowly opened up and the prose was so smooth it pulled me into the next subplot. There are no jarring syntax or grammar mistakes and few if any language issues. Characters are brought on slowly and fit the theme while slowly developing the plot.
The story is refreshing. There is no 'deus ex machina' to interrupt the believability. The characters are a little shallow at first but are slowly being fleshed out. There are several supporting characters that have roles in the story, each progressing along with the main character.
Each character has a role that supports the theme of the story. Each character is developed to support the plot and each has weaknesses and strengths the main character can rely on. So far there has been an appropriate response to each of the protagonists to thwart their plans. There are several political motivations as well and so far they, although being hinted at, are still in the background mysterious.
There are the inevitable villains, several levels of them, which add to the adversarial content. The protagonists are realistic at each level and the main character's ability to thwart their machinations is refreshing as well.

An interesting issekai in an unfriendly world for the hero. This is not the first such story, but one of the few where the hero does not slide into darkness and dirt, but does not try to wipe everyone's snot, remaining a calculating but positive character.
However, he doesn't really look like a mafia boss. In the first 20 chapters, there were moments when the discrepancy between the stated background and the real behavior of the MC hurt the eyes. I myself am writing about a state assassin in the fantasy world, so the theme of characters with a dark past is close to me. As for me, the past of the owner of a not too dirty semi-criminal business, who survived a turbulent gangster youth, would be better suited.
Nevertheless, after a couple dozen initial chapters, the problem is smoothed out, and the work becomes fascinating. I like the unusual concept of the world and abilities, battle scenes, as well as the development system. The characters also behave quite logically. Let the MC and his friends get lucky regularly, but for now it's within acceptable limits. (Although in their position, it's time for at least a few extras to die).
I advise everyone who is interested in the concept, but was scared off by contradictions, to read up to chapter 30, the work is really getting better.
I can't say anything about grammar, as I use an online translator for reading.

Lets start with the negatives tere are 3 flaws to this story.
    1. Grammar is not the best
    2. Every organization always unites against mc and his group,  becoming a bit repetitive.
    3. The author got sick and then went missing.
With that being said. This novel is awesome, mc is competent, some enemies are also competent, but even those that aren't make sense as to why not.
There is a very good plot behind every arc, and the world is filled with lore without giving the reader info dumps.
Hate that the author went missing and hope that he's ok.
