Glossy Black Trauma [A Cyberpunk Angel with a 50 Cal in a Fantasy World]
Community Rating
Description
I brought a .50 cal to a sword fight.
One second I was in a gaming chair playing VR games; the next, I was a goddess of war in a medieval forest. My friends Joshua, Alan, and Eren became the legendary heroes they played for years, the Paladin, the Moon Elf, and the Cat-folk Witch. But while they got swords and sorcery, I manifested as a hyper-lethal, high-tech assassin from a completely different genre. In every party, there’s the "babe." The one with the 6'1" frame, the impossible curves, and the outfit that looks like it was designed for an assassination, not a battlefield.
That’s me.
I’m the eye candy that makes nobles lose their words and guards lose their focus. But being a high-tech engine of death in a world of stone has a price.
Behind the glowing amber HUD and the perfect silhouette. The atrocities I commit to keep my friends safe are ghosts that follow me into the dark.
What to Expect:
Tactical "Fan Service": Gratuitous, self-indulgent moments where the "view" is just as important as the combat. (Jiggle).
Modern Warfare vs. Medieval Magic: Why use a fireball when you have a Glock 19 with micro-explosive rounds? Why not a 155mm M777 Howitzer?
A Strange New Reality: A mix of slice-of-life absurdity, some gender-bending identity crises, and the heavy weight of the atrocities a group of killers leave behind. This is for you if:
You’re tired of the same old adventure journey and want to see a high tech predator dismantle a fantasy setting or dismantle itself...
You love the contrast of high-tech chrome against high-fantasy stone.
You want a story that doesn't apologize for being unabashedly lewd while staying tactically sharp.*Edit for those worried about the early chapters shenanigans : The Gender bender slowly fades away as the MC gets more used to it. OP MC after chapter 60+*Contains psychological trauma, drug use and constant smoking

- hurtgenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The storytelling here is really fun. Taylor (a gender neutral name if ever there was one) designs a female body out of the perspective of male objectivity. He creates a hyper-feminized body to inhabit, but the trick of it is that Taylor quickly loses himself to being a her because of a) the feeling of being a woman and b) the response s/he gets from everyone. It's impossible to not notice a seductive lady standing at 6'1" in a black latex suit with guns. The discovery of self occurring alongside the discovery of the game world works well. Ralph Ellison said, "When I discover who I am, I'll be free." Can the same be said of Taylor? That's uncertain, because though she's discovering her new identity inside the game, the persona outside of the game is still the original and very male Taylor. But perhaps the exploration of what it is to be a woman inside a game setting has ramifications for understanding ourselves and the people around us, male and female alike.
Strong themes. Strong writing. This is a good read. - Applepay2002Royal Road★★★★★ 5.04.5 Style because the POV is as the hot lady in latex and its making me confused internally.
I really like it and think others should learn to like it but honestly, you do you.
Might have spoilers below so yeah.
Otherwise, been looking at the quality of story and it maintains its semi-eloquent style. I can definitely tell the author is not a person who writes in 1st person so this one needs help. For the story line, follows the linear path of go have an adventure before cliff-diving into killing orphans so its a pathway not expected, considering the various novels around. A tad bit visceral, respects my intelligence and needs more help in world building.
Grammar is good. Sometimes short sentence. Sometimes eloquently worded asymptomatic expression of extreme longitude words. So you get what I'm saying.
I really love the characters, they devolve, they get caught in these situations in which other magical characters would simply "disappear" the atrocities away.
Like
BODIES WHAT DEAD BODIES, THE DEAD DRAGON JUST STAYS ON THE MCDONALDS FOR THE REST OF ETERNITY. NO ONE PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THE DEAD DRAGON ON THE MCDONALDS.
But this one does it differently, after a war, there are scavengers, there are rats, there is a smell, there is sadness, who buries the body, who fixes the farm, who is there to tell little Tommy the reason why his dad is dead. Killing a human doesn't mean a life is placed onto the disappear list, it should linger, it should haunt, it should be as painful to the dead person as it is to yourself.
Dead bodies don't go away from the mind.
MMMMHMMM. The characters have a specific way they talk to each other, they have vices, things that make them happy, methods of navigating together. They discuss, they communicate like good little friends. No placeholders here.
Anyways, now you know my enthusiasm for posting a review. The only bit of critique is that the style is too evocative and now I'm too aroused at myself. Thanks. - Januss6Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I don't think this is a hero story.
The first few chapters don't have much in terms of plot but diving deeper reveals more and more for you to peel open like a banana. Fine...
There are periods of actions and periods of inaction but I suppose that's the journey. In terms of characters, each one has a way of dealing with their turmoils so its good. I appreciate the tonality changes after Chapter 10, getting to Chapter 19 really helps to solidify the drowning. Author does use images for outfit description. I suppose that helps?
This story is genuinely good, get past the body (praising?) and there is authentic energy radiating throughout the story.
I honestly just clicked for the 50 cal but the story isn't edgy power trip, there is guilt, there is happiness and there is definitely whatever is written in the title.
There are caveats though : It starts off kinda of the bog standard fantasy start and then turns dark so I feel like it's going to throw off a lot of the kiddos who can't handle emotions and just want bang. Then there are subjects that are being broached that slice-of-life really shouldn't touch on like
The person you killed probably had a family, kids, loving life.
The dilemmas on whether to kill one and save others but suffer being a murder or don't kill and watch others die.
The reality that you really can't save everyone or doing anything.
All in all. Lol, try and read it, I think its an acquired taste. - Mr.AndersonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Story :
Rarely do you find one that starts off with a comforting start then turns into something more complex. There is thinking about before and after a scenario.
- Its not a fight and then leave the bodies. Actions always have consequences to a character.
- Storyline then progresses with proper foreshadowing that I can identify.
- Somehow a fantasy story with guns that doesnt develop into a mary-sue.
- Details not dissapearing
Writing :
Seems well written, properly thought out planning with solid character development.
Very focused on making the character feel out of place, bodily and emotionally descriptive.
I can sense and feel changes to how the characters respond to scenarios.
Each character is different and has a specific motivation (not blank slates).
I feel emotional resonances.
Style :
Unique taste they I quite appreciate.
I dont think anybody has ever written a character to be in the pov of the eye-candy "just for looks" character.
Chapters are a good length of 2k-3k.
Grammer :
No issue.
Suggestion :
- Maybe some world slop chapters in between since its a slice of life.
- Edit synopsis
Verdict :
Give it a read. It's good. Will be watching this with great interest. - AmywowzRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story was a lot of fun. It had highs. It had lows. It had colds and it had hots.
The main character was very likeable, and i really enjoyed her POV throughout. The world building and descriptions made easy to imagine! This was a very fun genderbender and the author did a great job integrating that throughout the story.
I'd also say that having read their other stories, this one definitely takes the cake!
Fun story ahead! ^^ - DecdragonRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Clicked on this for the .50 cal gimmick, stayed because the story actually has teeth. The MC being the "hot one" rather than the chosen hero is a weird angle that somehow works. There's real discomfort baked into her situation that stops it from being a pure power trip. Actions have weight, the cast each have their own thing going on, and the cyberpunk-meets-swords setup never feels as silly as it sounds. Give it a few chapters before you judge it.
- FitzeFatzeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Story is fresh and realy just a good read.
Fantasy with high tropes and a little bit smut as well as sci fy latex badassery. Baam. Here it is.
Realy like the Style of writing. Read 33 Chapters in one Day. So Yeah. Hooked. And first Review. So please don't judge. Or do, but be nice.
Grammer is 5 Stars because i can read it, would be 5 Stars with 100 failures per Chapter. God knows i am a barbarian when it comes to ledaz.
The Story gets 4,5 Stars becouse, well, read it in one day till Chapter 33 and got hooked. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Like the smut, and the Pictures. 〜( ̄▽ ̄〜)
The Characters till chap 33 are MAYBE a little light. I mean The Gal and the Cat get much attention and are a big Yussss, but the main guy for the final goal till now is just there with his cheese at the moment and the Guys, yeah, hm. Drugis do drugy things like vaccum the garden or sleep on roofes. There is lost Potential, but it is early and i realy like the pacing till now.
Ps.: Maybe my writing errors are a form of me expressing myself. Or not. Don't know, or do i? - KennosukeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall:
I can't really tell if I like this story or not. Subjectively I'd probably rate this a bit lower, but I think there's some good ideas in here that I'd like to encourage. The story tries to go in two different directions at once, which is fine, but the transitions are pretty jarring at times. Spoilers below!
Story:
The premise is pretty solid. The MC inhabits a gender-bent character that they created for a different game, which they belatedly realize is an awkward oversexualization that is not actually great to deal with in a real world. This theme gets carried forward with the party realizing that being in war and famine and battle is different in real life than when they play a game. The goal is now to not be murder hobos but to pursue something more normal and peaceful.
Character:
This is where I have some struggles. The characters are interesting and have interesting traits, but there's not character development so much as character leaps. MC is uncomfortable about getting objectified by teammates, then suddenly is banging teammates. There's no in-between. Similarly, a teammate is injured, gets some medicine, suddenly they're a drug addict. No one really talks about it, it's not processed in a normal way, things just suddenly happen or change.
Grammar:
No complaints here. The writing is fine.
Style:
The style could use some work, but is overall fine. It feels like character development is rushed a bit. There's a lot of action, and not much introspection or time to process what's going on.
