Glitched! Uplift Arc
Community Rating
Description
[Winner of the April 22 Royal Road Writathon Challenge]
In 2202 the System reached Earth.
Thankfully it had learnt from previous uplifts and implemented an introductory arc to acclimatise the new participants rather than chucking them in the deep end.
The previous practice of just dumping unsuspecting beings into a System designed for the growth of the multiverse had led to catastrophic and sub-optimal results. The return on investment was abysmal. That old trope was so over-cooked - after nearly extinguishing itself through negative returns new policy was required.
That was 356 trillion local years back. Now over 5600 successful uplifts had joined the ranks of the multiverse.
But the System was always learning, always growing. Still there were glitches. Mostly minor. Mere irritants really. Sometimes even they were catalysts, triggering a fresh expansion. Soon the System would understand why.
Our Earth was 7912th.

- AlejoTheBearRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There are hints of a big wide world, but focus has *mostly* stayed on the mc. A little heavy handed on the gifts but thats what makes a main character worth following. Really good writing on a technical level. No obvious, to me at least, grammar or spelling errors to pull you out and decent flow all along though it can get a bit to stream of consciousness at times. Excited to keep reading.
- BabbaprimeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A little s!ow and meandering but the story is solid. Sometimes lacking in that cool factor I like so much but succeeding through the dorkiness of your situation can be cool too. Strong characters, doesn't take itself to seriously, an excellent breath of fresh air from the grimmer and darker stories that usually live in this genre. Give it a try.
- BansheePandaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a super fun and adorable read. Tad is a likeable fellow, ambitious but not an asshole about it. He's very well grounded, fun, and charming in a slightly awkward and adorkable way. I love how non judgmental he is, and praise his boundless optimism. He doesn't let things get him down for too long, and I'm looking forward to his eventual reunion with his family.
Also, the otters. Is it weird that I'm hoping he builds a family with them? - BsreadsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a very funny and interesting system apocalypse story with a calmer approach then most of the do or die we usually see. If you are looking for more laid back funny story this is for you. This is from a new author so be prepared for some shifts in writing as they improve as they go along but I am excited to see more.
- DeikonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It is a slow beginning, and I really like way the story goes.
I am finding it very enjoyable!
I like the direction and the characters so far and I think the development of the characters is going pretty well.
I hope this story will continue and I have saved it as a favorite.
So please try it and give it 25 chapters. - SonicfoxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I generally don't expect much from comedy cultivation, most tend not to last long in my expierence. This one seems to be developing into something that has plot, an intriguing story with a touch of the ridiculous, and something that could give the author plenty of room to explore their world for hundreds of chapters.
I am looking forward to seeing where this story goes. - Zero82Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0In a few words: As awesome as the name of the MC.
If you are looking for a fast-paced action run of the mill story this is not the story for you.
It is complex, deep and detailed world with matching characters.
It refreshing to have a MC with such deep thoughts and emotions and who grows in such an unconventional way.
I have my hopes up for what's coming... - azarthRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love this book! It was fun and fantastic with a serving of silly! This is one of my favorite Royal road books I have read so far. The grammar was fantastic, the quotes were amazing. I especially loved the Gordon b. B. Hinckley quote.
I hope the author picks this book back up and continues the delightful story of Tad Blank! - camperbeeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0love the mechanics and the happy go lucky attitude.
I really wish for more Blue Boxes and more gains, but thats just me being greedy. Your pacing is probably on point and i'm just being impatient...so tally on will ya.
I'm part of the f5 squad and always there for a new chappy from you my dear author.
0.5 Trolls..stop? Please?
thx and till next time. - rgreadsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Totally Awesome Protagonist here is the edgiest of edge cases.
An edge case is what happens in testing a system when you change all the values to the 'but that would never happen in reality!' extreme. If it's not actively prevented by your program, Users will eventually figure out how to do the utterly ridiculous.
And that's where the Exploits, Bugs and Nigels live. All things that keep rational System designers up at night. You never know what they'll do next.
