Description
"He awoke in fire, with no name - only a secret no one was meant to survive."
In an Empire where divinity is inherited and power sanctified, the Veil whispers promises of strength - at the price of sanity.
Damian remembers nothing before the cult. Only that he doesn’t belong.
At sixteen, he's forced into a noble ceremony meant to awaken his true self - but what awakens should never have existed. A forbidden power. A gaze into the Veil. Now the world wants him either caged… or dead.
As a world-war brews and ancient secrets bleed into the light, Damian is hunted by zealots and heretics alike, haunted by a woman who exists only in dreams, and bound to a fate carved in madness.
In a world of steam and shadow, where faith is control and memory is currency-
The more he uncovers the truth…The more reality begins to break.

- John smithiestRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Super underrated gem. The Author has done really well with refining it over the time. It was kind of confusing at its earlier versions, but the refinement of earlier chapters makes this novel super appealing for a long term audience.
The MC is super interesting, sarcastic, funny etc and I love the internal monolague. This is one of those novels where the first person perspective works very well. Seeing this world through the MCs eyes really makes it feel lived in. Especially when we see the mcs reaction to things, it feels incredibly human.
The story really seems like it will have a big pay off, which I hope the author executed well. They've done very well at setting things up, so very excited to se the pay offs. It's very heavy on the mystery, and reminds me a lot of LOTM.
Speaking of LOTM. I love that the Author has kind of made this world a mix of steampunk elditch of LOTM and religious dystopia of something like Warhammer 40k. Its a super interesting setting that I havnt seen done once. Its obvious the Author has taken inspiration, but it definitly hasn't copied anything. The world building has been a highlight. Occasionally it can be a bit confusing, but with the updates the Authors been making, things have been more and more fleshed out the longer I've been reading.
Lastly, I will say I'm very excited for the future! Everything seems to be planned by the way the Author writes, and I can't wait to see what it leads to.
Good luck Author!
