- EleshisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0OVERALL: Starts out sparse but gets some meat on its bones as it goes.
STYLE: The prose on display here is easy to read, though it tends to be light on detail. Most of the principle cast get little in the way of description, and the settings are also a little bare. I'd also like it if we got ot spend more time with the MC's thoughts.
STORY: So without getting into spoilers, its about an unassuming girl making a contract with a demigod in exchange for incredible power. She uses this power to defend those around her while also grapping with her new locked-in fate. The story starts out by lulling the reader in to a false sense of calm, just going about the school day, when suddenly everything flips and horrible demon monsters appear. From where we go into cleanup after the initial incident, everyone's reactions to the incident, and then move on to figuring out what to do in this new danger-filled world. Its not a complicated story, but it keeps moving at a nice pace. Be aware that the chapters with numbers are the end are sections of a larger arc in the story.
GRAMMAR: The first couple of chapters have some minor issues, but as it goes on they disappear and the prose gets better overall.
CHARACTER: There's a big cast in action here, but most of them blend together or fade into the background. We have gang members, teachers, prominent students, incidental students, a demigod, and our main character, Tira. The main few characters are easy enough to remember, but you get slapped with new names frequently and don't have a chance to connect them to a personality or action. Its fitting given that the story up to now has taken place at an in-tact school, but it makes things hard to follow sometimes as people pop up and and drop out. Of the cast, the resident demigod, Dias, has the strongest personality. He's sarcastic, cryptic, and an all-around scene stealer.
