Fungeoneer

Description

In a city built on a dungeon, life is all about the crawl. Dungeoneers push themselves to delve deeper, to raise their ranks, and to bring back expensive loot. There’s money to be made, and a chance to be something more than poor in an unforgiving world.

Wip, however, cares about none of these things. All he wants to do is find a party, kill monsters, and have fun. It would have been a good life, assuming he and the party he assembles aren’t clearly so unfit for society.

With each new party member comes new problems. Before the party can even think of fighting the monsters in the dungeon, they first need to fight with the monsters that they make.

Fungeoneer is not your typical dungeon diving story, and our wonderful dungeon crawlers are not your typical… anything.

Enjoying it a lot so far! In a kind of techno-fantasy world there's a dungeon with monsters that adventurers farm for cores (money), and the MC is one of those adventurers. He's a bit of an idiot, to say the least, so warning if you only read genius MCs. But he's lovable enough I don't mind it, goofy and earnest. The plot picks up quick, the writing is pretty good, and I loved the action scenes so far! Definitely a solid beginning, I'll definitely be checking it out some more
Oh yeah, also there are [Levels], but I think no stats? Kind of a soft LitRPG system, with a renamed version of "mana", and abilities come mostly (only?) from pieces of gear that gets crafted from monster drops I guess. And yeah, the MC is kind of hidden OP. Very anime vibes
    Edit:
Ok I read much more by now, important to mention is that we also get a new MC that takes over completely instead of Wip, I'm guessing this is going to happen every time he grows the party. The story is still going strong and is fun regardless, a lot of exposition but also with enough stuff happening to balance it out, but getting used to the new POV took a while for me. Finally, the posting schedule is great too, new chapters almost every day POG

An interesting and engaging premise, well-written, with little downtime and excellent humour and world building. Definitely worth a read!
The author has obviously invested much time to polish their craft and it shows in the skilfully paced story. A well-fleshed world and characters, backed up by believeable (if slightly cliche) motivations and origins, hosts an amusing and engaging group as they stumbled through their lives as dungeoneers.

It was good while it lasted. A really interesting and unique take on the genre, but its dropped now. A unique character that didn't have much of an equal anywhere and some interesting trope subversions. Hope to see more in the future like this. Its still worth reading for the fun bits even if the story is dropped.

The story starts out like a whiplash where you are disoriented, not understanding what kind of world you have been dropped into.  The character's are dramatic, maybe a little too so at first, but they quickly grow on you.  As you start to adjust and come to understand the vibrancy of each character's personality, you can't help but want to know just what made them the way they are?  I love the backdrop as well.  Very unique, yet still has similar dungeon story elements.  Sadly, this story is being dropped, so I will never know what was suppossed to happen next, but I will imagine the rest of it in my own head.  Even incomplete, it is worth reading.  Maybe stop at chapter 45 or 46 so that you feel that you have read a story with an open ended conclusion.

There certainly is a lot of showing not telling, but what was shown was obscure to me and far out from what the synopsis says and from what I expected from the story I had no idea what was going on.  The author describes Wip as someone who's not fit for society, but there's no way to tell this.  It appears that his systematic idiocy is the correct strategy to survive in the society he is in here?  It's tagged as Progression, but the dude has randomly infinite levels? It's tagged as multiple characters but so far there's only two and
the first batch of characters we learn anything about just plain dies horribly?
It wasn't boring, since I read five chapters.  It is imaginative but perhaps too imaginative for me?  In the end I didn't have the will to read further, there is too much I have no idea what is going on.  I gave up.
