When Leon is diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, he goes into cryogenic sleep to wait for a suitable treatment to be discovered. What he didn’t expect, however, was to wake up more than 130 years later to a changed world.

Gone are diplomatic governments and independent countries. Now, mega-corporations and social status determine your worth in this new order.

And Leon clearly got the short end of the stick.

His disease might be cured, but now there is a whole new type of cancer invading his life. The only difference is that there might not be another way than to face it head-on.

The supporting cast is equally compelling, each character vividly drawn with their own unique arcs and relationships that breathe life into the story. Binged what’s out in a day or two and was left needing more.
If you like character-driven stories, sci-fi, and teen (okay, young adult, let’s be fair) drama, then stop wasting time reading this review and dive into the story.
For those who are on the fence and still need a little push, let me be brief without spoiling too much:
The MC hits the sweet spot between being a super-capable, overconfident genius and an adorable dork, encapsulating the essence of a slightly awkward introvert pretty well. He’s direct and eccentric in a funny way, without coming across as over the top. I just wish there was a bit more pushback for him, but who knows, maybe it's just around the corner.
The supporting cast is distinct and likable, feeling like real people with their own lives, ambitions, and problems - not just cardboard cutouts for the MC to interact with. They have relationships with each other - some more complicated than others - and there’s just this distinct teen drama tension at times that really sells it for me.
The world, to me, is compelling, with just enough worldbuilding to give a general idea of it while leaving room for questions and speculation, making chapters go by in a blink. I really like the kind of anti-utopia the author is creating. Perhaps it’s minor, but to me, it really stands out in the plentiful fields of dystopian visions so common on this site.
And to top it all off, it’s simply well written. The paragraphs are well-structured, the dialogue flows well. I was a bit afraid of the multiple story threads being juggled at once, but they’re all handled with the care they deserve, so nothing feels like an afterthought. The occasional typos, while present, are few and far between. An easy, pleasurable read all around.
I can easily see this story gaining popularity very soon, and I’m very much rooting for its success.
